A listing (from most current to furthest back) of any write-up posts in which Dustin has been mentioned:
- Gobble Gobbowl (Nov 26th, 2024) - The crisp autumn air was filled with anticipation, as the annual Thanksgiving bowling tournament commenced. The ancient alleys, lit by flickering torchlight, witnessed heroic feats and heart-wrenching defeats. The pins, much like the freshly harvested corn, stood ready to be knocked down, and the teams came prepared to write history in the annals of the game. One pilgrim set a new personal best series. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (144) and series (390) for the woman, while Dustin Schmeltz earned this week's high game (232) and series (578) for the men.
- Dustin the Win(d) (Nov 12th, 2024) - It seems only fitting that about midway through the evening "Dust In the Wind" by Kansas played on the overhead sound system, considering that by the time the dust all settled Dustin Schmeltz landed this week's high series, swept all the weekly awards, and won his Tournament division too. Meanwhile AJ Hofmann left jaws and balls dropping with his 235 high game as two pairs of teams swapped places in the standings. Let's dive into the pulse-pounding action!
- Split Happens (Oct 15th, 2024) - We are now halfway through the Fall 2024 season, and an electrifying eighth week brought no changes to the standings—but the drama on the lanes was palpable! Tension ran high as two matches ended in split results, and one battle saw a staggering number of actual splits, keeping bowlers on edge. JoAnne Barber delivered this week’s top game (152) and series (409) for the women, while Ben Spencer dominated for the men with a high game of 228 and a commanding 614 series. The excitement didn't stop there—read on for all the details and check out your bingo results too!
- Did you hear the parking lot is closed? (Oct 8th, 2024) - A seventh week of Fall 2024 bowling that seemed destined for mundane mediocrity was anything but ordinary, and since Scoot wasn't there to see what actually happened he's letting BowlingBot run free with its imagination for this recap. The air crackled with tension, tension that began out on the street where bowlers brawled and threatened each other over limited parking spaces. As the pent-up hostilities spilled onto the lanes, the standings stubbornly refused to shift. Still, Matthew Taylor's thunderous 248 game and 651 series was a bright spot, marking his reign over the night. Yet, the real drama unfolded beneath the surface, as each team clawed for dominance in a battle of strikes and spares. Read on for the thrilling, albeit somewhat chaotic, details!
- Debatably Good Bowling (Sep 10th, 2024) - The third week of Fall 2024 rolled in with anticipation, as one team soared to new heights and another tumbled down the standings. Please get team names and any other roster changes to us by this weekend, and if anyone else wants to bowl who did not bowl last season, let Scoot or AJ know ASAP so we can find you a spot! But the biggest twist is likely the first-place lead change at the last moment of the season's first half!

In the realm of fierce competition, JoAnne Barber emerged as the undisputed queen of the evening, leaving everyone in awe with her remarkable performance. With grace and precision, she defied all odds and claimed the crown for the highest game (133) and series (365) among the women bowlers. It wasn't just a victory; it was a masterclass in bowling finesse that left spectators in awe. And let's not forget the countless women JoAnne had to out-bowl to secure her title—a true testament to her prowess!

Emily Nicolet landed this week's high game for the women with a 116, and women's high series was bagged by JoAnne Barber with a 325. As for the men, Ben Spencer earned this week's high game (249) and series (588). Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Sweeps Week (Oct 5th, 2021) - By now every team has bowled each other once, so many of you league veterans may be expecting a position round next week. But, because of the way a 16-week schedule works with 6 teams, there will be no position rounds until the final week to allow every team ro bowl every other team an equal number of times.
This week was full of clean sweeps, lots of 200s, and much improved scores across the board as we acclimate to our new surroundings. Two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. One bowler rolled a new personal best game. Emily Nicolet picked up this week's high game (167) and series (376) for the women, while Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (240) and series (621) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Week 3 RoboRecap (Sep 21st, 2021) - The third week of Fall 2021 saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (133) and series (357) for the women, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (243) and series (638) for the men. And the Tournament of Champions divisions are now set, ready for one-on-one action to begin next week! Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Summer 2021 Recap (Aug 21st, 2021) - Here is your Summer 2021 Recap, where you can find out who won all the individual awards that we didn't collect prize money for but they still at least matter for bragging rights!
- Summer Draws to a Close (Aug 11th, 2021) - Our short summer season came to and end tonight, with no surprises at either end of the standings but a bit of an upset in the middle. Lindsey Campbell picked up this week's high game (132) and series (339) for the women, while AJ Hofmann earned this week's high game (222) and series (528) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Almost done! (Aug 4th, 2021) - While the standings still to unchanged in terms of team ranks, the number of possible outcomes for next week's championships has. Team 1 & Scoot's Fault are now the only two teams with a shot at the Championship, and the only hope Scoot's Fault actually has is to either sweep or win three to force a tiebreaker game. Meanwhile, though mathematically eliminated from the Championship, Team 2 has a reasonable shot at overtaking Scoot's Fault and moving into 2nd place. And if they fail at that, Team 4 has a shot at overtaking them for third! But that's enough about next week. THIS week, JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (160) and series (433) for the women, while Dennis Walling earned this week's high game (210) and series (574) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Feeling the Heat (Jul 28th, 2021) - A hot and sticky sixth week of Summer 2021 resulted in copius amounts of sweat but once again no movement in the standings. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (137) and series (379) for the women, while Dennis Walling earned this week's high game (237) and series (624) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Week 4 RoboRecap (Jul 19th, 2021) - The Midsummer 2021 position round is now history, and and the championship will be on us before we know it! The fourth week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Lindsey Campbell picked up this week's high game (195) and series (416) for the women, while Michael Gordon earned this week's high game (223) and series (571) for the men.
- The Rule of J (Jul 7th, 2021) - By now every team has bowled each other once, so next week is the mid-season position round. But enough about next week, you came here to read about this week. The third week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (150) and series (402) for the women. As for the men, Matthew Taylor snagged this week's high game with a 223, and high series was earned by Michael Gordon with a 576. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Two Early Leaders Emerge (Jun 30th, 2021) - Though nobody moved in the standings this week, one team pulled away with enough wins to establish itself as the first challenger to the team that started out in first last week. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (122) and series (335) for the women. As for the men, AJ Hofmann snagged this week's high game with a 225, and high series was earned by James Tott with a 594. Read on for all the rest of the details!
- Summer Season Kicks Off (Jun 23rd, 2021) - The Midsummer 2021 season (as it will be referred to on this site, so that it will have an abbreviation different from that of the previous Spring season) is now underway, with four teams entering the 8-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy and the prize payouts of exactly nothing.
While much
sandbagginglearning curve adjusting from wood to synthetic lanes keeping scores down, JoAnne Barber, no longer the lone woman, picked up this week's high game (144) and series (365) for the women, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (213) and series (544) for the men. - Spring 2017 Recap (May 19th, 2017) - 35 seasons of bowling are now behind us, and while this season may not have set a lot of records, it still has a few firsts and a lot of fun moments. And the surprise come-from-behind championship win by Omaha Hambone marks the first title win in quite some time that didn't come from ne of the long-time dynasties.
- Can the Dark Horse Still Win? (May 2nd, 2017) - Probably not. :) Tonight was the last night of regular-season bowling, and next week decides it all! As is stands now, Omaha Hambone would have to sweep and then win the roll-off in order to defeat the perennial champs. However, Hambone is currently 4-4 against the Uncles, only won one game when they last faced each other, and last enjoyed a sweep 4 weeks ago. Sure, they may pull off a huge upset, but it's looking quite unlikely. How did it come to this?
- Another RoboWriteup :( (Apr 18th, 2017) - Sorry, folks. Scoot only got 3 hours of sleep last night, so we have to do another computer-generated writeupo this week. :( Sorry about that!
- Mopping It Up (Apr 12th, 2017) - Tonight was a night of almost all sweeps, and saw a formerly near-last-place team barrel its way into the top half of the standings. Meanwhile the formerly first-place team became increasingly frustrated with their inability to regain the lead and it cost them their most precious commodity.
- The RoboWriteup (Apr 5th, 2017) - Scoot had a lot he needed to do tonight and didn't have time to write a recap, so this week's update is the automated, computer-generated version. Sorry about that!
- The Uncles Wiggled Back Up (Mar 28th, 2017) - Last week left things with the top three teams only one game apart. Now they are three games apart and a new leader has emerged.
- Getting Tighter (Mar 21st, 2017) - While the only position change in the standings tonight was a flip right in the very center of the lineup, the race for first place definitely became a lot more interesting as now only one game separates the top three teams. Who will have what it takes to come out ahead 7 weeks from now?
- Halfway to the Pot o' Gold (Mar 14th, 2017) - Our season is now officially half over. Three teams are sliding along the downhill side of the rainbow towards the pot of gold, while everyone else is still back on the uphill slope, weighed down with too much corned beef and green beer
- Fat Tuesday? Nah, It's Just a Beer Belly. (Feb 28th, 2017) - Tonight we had several bowlers off celebrating Mardis Gras, and for a while it seemed some of the lanes might take the night off as well. Luckily everything came together and we finished our games with little debauchery, no arrests, and no one getting run over.
- Bowl To The Future (Feb 22nd, 2017) - Okay, get ready for this, our league has just undergone time travel and split off into an alternate reality.
Last night while working up the scoresheets, things just weren't adding up no matter what Scoot tried. After a great deal of frustrating recap sheet auditing, it finally came to our attention that a blind series we had recorded for Michael Gordon back in Week 3 had actually been pre-bowled and we never got the scores for it.
So, moments ago, week 3's scores were re-entered, and all affected matchups since then have been re-calculated. The result is a history of the past 3 weeks considerably different from the one we have already experienced. In this new timeline, Ebowla experienced a week as the first-place team, and Frankee's Uncles are now enjoying their second week in first place.
- Our Gutters ♥ Your Balls (Feb 14th, 2017) - While many bowlers were either absent or pre-bowled, most of the league knew what their true love is and spend Valentine's evening chucking balls down the lane.
- Goodness Gracious, Great Balls of Fire! (Feb 8th, 2017) - Tonight was a night of some pretty incredible games. With two veterans setting new personal high games, one setting a new personal high series, and people rolling well above their average in every one of our matchups, tonight was literally smoking
- So Shines a Good Deed in a Weary World (Jan 31st, 2017) - With so much darkness and suffering in our country and the world the last 11 days, it is nothing short of miraculous when a tiny ray of light cuts through the darkness and brings hope to a world in sorrow. So, Omaha Hambone, we thank you.
- Spring 2017 Kickoff! (Jan 24th, 2017) - Our 35th season kicked off with what could very well turn out to be the most fund, least competitive season we have had in years. A dozen rookies make up more than a third of the league, so anything goes!
- Dustin-Hofmann (Aug 30th, 2016) - Apart from some sexy new bowling shirts making a debut, the biggest development tonight was some pretty amazing performances by two of our non-anchors. Congratulations to Dustin and AJ on some mighty fine bowling tonight!
- Split Sisters Split It and Swept It (May 3rd, 2016) - The Split Sisters utilized the power of high squeaky sounds of excitement to eke out their first sweep of the season! How did everyone else do? Read on to find out...
- Fear The Cheese (Mar 29th, 2016) - Why, oh why, do people continue to deny the power of The Cheese Stick Curse? Time and time again, the power of the molten mozzarella has been proven!
- Theory of Relativity Proven (Feb 16th, 2016) - Just days after the announcement that gravity waves were detected, another portion of Einstein's Theory of Relativity was proven tonight when the matchup that involved Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! finished in less time than any other matchup! Granted, they shed half of their mass in order do do it, but it's all part of the famous equation.
