Season 33: Spring 2016

Welcome to Season #33, the Spring 2016 session.

With 33 seasons of bowling now behind us, the Spring 2016 season ended tonight as the 3rd best season in league history in terms of combined league average, and 4th best and in terms of the number (215) of 200+ games rolled. Congratulations, everyone, on a great season!

  • Carl Goetz and Phil Schroeder became the 3rd and 4th bowlers to pass 200,000 career pins knocked down.
  • In game 2 of week 12, Carl Goetz became the first bowler to log 400 career 200+ games. His count currently stands at 409.
  • Also this season, Kody became the 4th bowler to claim 200 20+ games.
  • Aaron Barber is now the 2nd best bowler in league history to never win a championship.
  • Sean Simmons improved his game by 36 pins since establishing his base average after week 3, the second biggest single-season improvement in average in league history.
  • John Boren currently holds the highest win percentage of any bowler in league history. Teams that have John Boren rolling in a particular week win a staggering 69.08% of their games. His win-loss record is 309.5-138.5.
  • Based on team power rankings, Fallop Ian comes in as the 4th strongest team of all time.

Fallop Ian is #1 Power ranked team, Bowlgasmic is runner up. Head to Head: Sean Simmons would have won 68.168% of all possible one-on-one matchups this season, Carl Goetz comes in second with 63.588%.

Pat Searcy 'Life of the Party' AwardNamed for a man whose exuberant personality made bowling nights more fun for all those around him. Given to the person who livens up Tuesday nights and brings a smile to all our faces.

Gone But Not ForgottenNik Domann. Nik joined the league in our 2nd season, Fall 2000, and rolled with is for 15 of the next 16 seasons. He began as a 130s bowler and ended his career in the 160s with a high game of 246 and a high series of 630. During his tenure he rolled alongside 18 different teammates and accumulated 3 titles. Nik moved to Springfield in 2008 to tend to the needs of his ailing father. He has since married a veterinarian named Vanessa and has two daughters: Karly (age 3) and Amelia (7 months)Scott Murdock "Get 'er Done" AwardNamed each Spring to thank someone who went above and beyond to help the league. This was a tough one this year, because there were several good choices to pick from. But when it comes down to it, there was one clear standout.

  • Runner Up: Aaron Barber, for his continual recruiting efforts. He has brought at least one new bowler in every season since he joined the league.
  • Winner: Angela Bradford, for recruiting an entire team: Split Sisters.
