A listing (from most current to furthest back) of any write-up posts in which Aaron has been mentioned:
  • Second Place is Tasting Tangy (Nov 19th, 2024) - The thirteenth week of Fall 2024 turned out to be a rollercoaster of triumph and heartbreak, where strikes lit up the lanes and gutter balls cast long shadows. One bowler achieved a career-defining moment, and the competition saw seismic shifts in the standings. JoAnne Barber captured the woman’s high game (143) and series (384), while Dennis Walling stole the spotlight for the men with a blazing high game (223) and series (580). And while we were all distracted Scootytang -- a team that had been in dead last only five ago -- has been quietly creeping up the standings and tonight reclaimed a second-place position.

  • Dustin the Win(d) (Nov 12th, 2024) - It seems only fitting that about midway through the evening "Dust In the Wind" by Kansas played on the overhead sound system, considering that by the time the dust all settled Dustin Schmeltz landed this week's high series, swept all the weekly awards, and won his Tournament division too. Meanwhile AJ Hofmann left jaws and balls dropping with his 235 high game as two pairs of teams swapped places in the standings. Let's dive into the pulse-pounding action!

  • The Halloween Episode: Murders on the Lanes (Oct 29th, 2024) - The haunting Halloween week of Fall 2024 brought a chill over the league as bowlers took to the lanes under a shadow of suspense. JoAnne Barber braved the eerie tension, snagging this week's high game (134) and series (369) for the woman, while Aaron Barber claimed the men’s high game with a hair-raising 240 and Seth Gunderson’s wicked high series of 623 was nothing short of legendary. But amid the celebrations, bowlers whispered of a masked figure prowling the alley. One by one, they began to vanish...

  • Split Happens (Oct 15th, 2024) - We are now halfway through the Fall 2024 season, and an electrifying eighth week brought no changes to the standings—but the drama on the lanes was palpable! Tension ran high as two matches ended in split results, and one battle saw a staggering number of actual splits, keeping bowlers on edge. JoAnne Barber delivered this week’s top game (152) and series (409) for the women, while Ben Spencer dominated for the men with a high game of 228 and a commanding 614 series. The excitement didn't stop there—read on for all the details and check out your bingo results too!

  • Topsy-Turvy (Oct 1st, 2024) - The sixth week of Fall 2024 brought intense competition, dramatic comebacks, and heart-wrenching defeats, as the league standings experienced a seismic shift. With the exception of Squid Row, seemingly inknoculated against any ill-effects from a major loss, every team experienced a large swing in the standings. Three teams surged forward, fueled by fiery determination, while two others found themselves slipping down the ranks, unable to fend off their rivals. Personal records fell, excitement soared, and the emotional highs and lows of league bowling were on full display. JoAnne Barber's high game of 128 and series of 340 secured her the top spot for the woman, while Matthew Taylor’s powerhouse performance earned him a high game of 252 and series of 624 for the men. But that was only the beginning—let's dive into the thrilling details!

  • Moonlight Sonatabowl (Sep 17th, 2024) - The fourth week of Fall 2024 brought more than just shifting tides in the standings—it carried the weight of dreams realized and dashed, all beneath a bright full moon that watched over the lanes. As the pins fell, so did hopes, while others soared higher than ever before. JoAnne Barber claimed this week's high game (151) and series (393) for the woman, while Aaron Barber delivered this week’s high game (227) and series (610) for the men, their performances shining under the lunar glow. Meanwhile, the games themselves were partially eclipsed by the arrival of the Tournament of Champions, igniting 13 weeks of head-to-head bowling drama. But that was just the beginning of the night’s tale. Read on for the gripping details, and be sire to check your Bingo results too!

  • Debatably Good Bowling (Sep 10th, 2024) - The third week of Fall 2024 rolled in with anticipation, as one team soared to new heights and another tumbled down the standings. JoAnne Barber made waves with this week’s high game (126) and series (347) for the woman, while Matthew Taylor took center stage for the men with a high game (238) and series (614). Meanwhile, the Tournament of Champions divisions are locked and loaded, ready to bring head-to-head showdowns next week! Let’s dive into the play-by-play drama of this week's matchups.

  • It was a Dark and Stormy Frame (Aug 27th, 2024) - The Fall 2024 season has kicked off with a thunderous start, as six determined teams enter the 16-week battle for the elusive, imaginary championship trophy. With a massive electrical storm outside and electrical issues of our own inside killing the scoreboards just 30 minutes into bowling, the atmosphere was charged as one bowler shattered their personal best game. Meanwhile JoAnne Barber stormed the lanes to claim this week's high game (113) and series (335) for the woman, while Aaron Barber unleashed a whirlwind performance, taking the men's high game (200) and series (561). And Bingo was dominated this week by Seth and Buck. Dive into the drama as the pins fell like a flash flood and Lane 1 issues slowed things down like the Royals lightning delay!

  • Fall 2024 Bowling Preview! (Aug 13th, 2024) - Welcome to the Fall 2024 bowling season! We start bowling 2 weeks from tonight, on August 27, same location and same time as usual. There is still time to submit roster changes, but for the time being all six teams seem to be the same as last time with two exceptions: Ray Scott is sitting this season out, and Nick Kinney is replacing Michael Gordon. Please get team names and any other roster changes to us by this weekend, and if anyone else wants to bowl who did not bowl last season, let Scoot or AJ know ASAP so we can find you a spot! (Reminder: Scoot is out of town most of next week so please try to finalize things by this weekend.)

  • Keep Out Of Harms' Way (Apr 16th, 2024) - In the thunderous lanes of the thirteenth week of Spring 2024, the air was electric with anticipation as the beasts of the lanes clashed. Leading the charge was none other than the legendary Kent Harms, whose name alone was enough to send shivers down the spines of his opponents. As the pins trembled in fear, Harms unleashed his unparalleled skill, claiming both the high game (257) and series (683) of the week -- both new personal bests, rewriting the annals of bowling history with each thunderous roll of the ball. In fact his series is also the new league high series for the season

  • Despite Eclipse, Games Shine Bright (Apr 9th, 2024) - The twelfth week of Spring 2024 resulted in absolutely no movement in the standings, the only change being that the third place team went from a losing record to an even record. However that detail obscures that there was a lot of good bowling happening tonight, including the most 200s we've seen this season. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (142) and series (363) for the woman, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (257) and series (659) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Squid Row Remains Prime Real Estate (Apr 2nd, 2024) - In the alleys of the eleventh week of Spring 2024, strikes were flying, spares were spared, and emotions were high as bowling fever gripped the lanes! JoAnne Barber dazzled with her remarkable 147 high game and a solid 397 series, continuing her insanely long streak of being the league's top female bowler. Meanwhile, Matthew Taylor flexed his bowling muscles with an impressive 224 high game and a whopping 606 series, leaving the other dangly-bits-possessing league members in awe.

  • Pre-Valentine Love on the Lanes (Feb 13th, 2024) - In the realm of high scores and sweet victories, JoAnne Barber stole the hearts of the bowling alley with her cupid-approved high game (132) and series (377) for the women. On the men's side, the charismatic duo of Kent Harms and Nick Kinney shared a love-struck tie for this week's high game with a swoon-worthy 212. However, it was Nick Kinney who emerged as the true bowling heartthrob, earning the high series title with an impressive 602

  • Who Ordered the Calamari? (Jan 30th, 2024) - The second week of Spring 2024 saw two teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. In a week completely bereft of women to showcase, Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (204) and series (598). And while it's way too early for anyone to be staking claims, a new league leader emerged with a lightly fried breaded coating served up with roasted peppers and a bit of butter. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • It was the Worst of Times, it was the Worst of Times. (Oct 24th, 2023) - Let's face it, last night sucked. I don't know if it was the weather, geopolitical concerns, not enough relaxing pharmaceuticals partaken of before crossing the state line, or Ron putting the oil machine on the "Torture Pattern" setting as a joke, but it has been years since we've seen such an off night all across the board.

  • Lead Switch Halfway In (Oct 17th, 2023) - Welcome to the midway point of the thrilling Fall 2023 bowling season! Week 8 brought us some fierce competition, with teams rising and falling like pins on the lanes. And while the action was intense, it was the exceptional performances that stole the spotlight. But the biggest twist is likely the first-place lead change at the last moment of the season's first half! In a league where female bowlers outnumber Gideon Bibles remaining in room 426 of the Magnolia Hotel in Omaha, JoAnne Barber emerged as a shining star, effortlessly claiming this week's high game with a remarkable 137, and a series of 384 for the women. Meanwhile, the men had their own standout performer, as Matthew Taylor blazed a trail with a spectacular high game of 257 and an impressive series total of 639.

  • Bowling Starts August 29! (Aug 28th, 2023) -

  • Spring 2023 Recap (Jul 24th, 2023) -

  • Back From The Dead (Feb 10th, 2023) - The third week of Spring 2023 saw all sorts of technical difficulties as both an unavoidable server update and wifi crash decided to happen on the same night. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (148) and series (387) for the woman. • In The Bag (Nov 29th, 2022) - The fifteenth week of Fall 2022 saw the championship get clinched prematurely, eliminating one minor source of excitement about next week. One bowler set a new personal best game and series. Keeping it in the family, JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (170) and series (427) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (234) and series (660) for the men. Meanwhile, Tournament of Champions is officially down to its final eight bowlers, who will face each other next week competing for two cash prizes! Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Baby Beardo Crawling Away (Nov 15th, 2022) - Only three weeks of games-that-count bowling remain, and while it's still not a mathematically insurmountable league, Baby Beardo appears to be crawling toward a championship. As for the men, Seth Gunderson snagged this week's high game with a 215, and high series was earned by AJ Hofmann with a 562. • Putting Out Fires, Sweeping Up the Mess (Feb 8th, 2022) - An unusually long-lasting third week of Spring 2022 saw lots of mechanical issues and some major IT issues as both Jacob and Scoot got their activity goals for the day running around putting out fires. Read on for all the rest of the details

  • "Not a Robot" (Oct 12th, 2021) - This writeup has nothing to do with robots or "The Good Place", I just found myself unable to think of a title or cover image this week. But at least it's not a robot-written write-up, so we'll celebrate that. The sixth week saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. Emily Nicolet landed this week's high game for the women with a 116, and women's high series was bagged by JoAnne Barber with a 325. • Almost done! (Aug 4th, 2021) - While the standings still to unchanged in terms of team ranks, the number of possible outcomes for next week's championships has. Team 1 & Scoot's Fault are now the only two teams with a shot at the Championship, and the only hope Scoot's Fault actually has is to either sweep or win three to force a tiebreaker game. Meanwhile, though mathematically eliminated from the Championship, Team 2 has a reasonable shot at overtaking Scoot's Fault and moving into 2nd place. And if they fail at that, Team 4 has a shot at overtaking them for third! But that's enough about next week. THIS week, JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (160) and series (433) for the women, while Dennis Walling earned this week's high game (210) and series (574) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Feeling the Heat (Jul 28th, 2021) - A hot and sticky sixth week of Summer 2021 resulted in copius amounts of sweat but once again no movement in the standings. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (137) and series (379) for the women, while Dennis Walling earned this week's high game (237) and series (624) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Disjointed Outcomes (Jul 22nd, 2021) - Though nothing changed in the standings, both sets of matchups went a bit differently than expected due to outside forces knocking teams out of alignment. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (156) and series (394) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (220) and series (583) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • The Rule of J (Jul 7th, 2021) - By now every team has bowled each other once, so next week is the mid-season position round. But enough about next week, you came here to read about this week. The third week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (150) and series (402) for the women. As for the men, Matthew Taylor snagged this week's high game with a 223, and high series was earned by Michael Gordon with a 576. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Summer Season Kicks Off (Jun 23rd, 2021) - The Midsummer 2021 season (as it will be referred to on this site, so that it will have an abbreviation different from that of the previous Spring season) is now underway, with four teams entering the 8-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy and the prize payouts of exactly nothing. While much sandbagging learning curve adjusting from wood to synthetic lanes keeping scores down, JoAnne Barber, no longer the lone woman, picked up this week's high game (144) and series (365) for the women, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (213) and series (544) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Spring 2021 Recap (Jun 15th, 2021) - Here is your Spring 2021 Recap, where you can find out who won all the individual awards that we didn't collect prize money for but they still at least matter for bragging rights!

  • Emergency Relocation Saves the Championship! (May 18th, 2021) - With the sudden sale and closure of AMF Pro Bowl Lanes just three days before our final session of bowling, we were unsure if we'd be able to finish things up properly or just call it where we stood. Luckily for the team that ended up securing the championship last night, Gladstone Bowl helped us out by offering us four lanes to use so we could finish our season! It wasn't ideal squeezing 6 teams onto 4 lanes and maybe wasn't technically legal by USBC standards since the 3rd & 4th place teams bowled on separate sets of lanes, but thanks to Gladstone's help we were able to make the best of a bad situation. And with the top 4 teams all having a realistic shot at the title, it was a championship worth fighting for! JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (146) and series (413) for the woman, while, Aaron Barber snagged this week's high game for the men with a 225, and men's high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 607. A full recap of the Spring 2021 season, along with Season MVB and other details, will be coming in a few days. Meanwhile, read on to find out more about last night's results!

  • Groupies' Burning Balls (Apr 13th, 2021) - Sorry for the extremely delayed writeup! For obvious reasons, I (Scoot) have been very distracted and not in the mood to think about bowling this past week. :( I almost left it a robo-recap, but there are a couple of people who I am sure want their recognition. The seventh week of Spring 2021 saw one team climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (148) and series (373) for the woman, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (266) and series (714) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Musical Chairs (Mar 31st, 2021) - After some false starts and lots of lane shuffling (first due to this week accidentally not flagged as a position round in the computer, then by the fact that we had been shifted 4 lanes to the left leading to the wrong set of lanes getting reset) the Spring 2021 position round finally got underway, resulting in changes only near the middle of the standings. As always seems to be the case, JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (156) and series (421) for the woman. As for the men, Michael Gordon snagged this week's high game with a 224, and high series was earned by Aaron Barber with a 595. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Ducktales FTW (FN...) (Mar 16th, 2021) - Last week we saw Larry, I'm On Ducktales leapfrog into first place. Meanwhile JoAnne Barber, as usual, picked up this week's high game (131) and series (380) for the woman. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Spring 2021 Starts Tuesday! (Feb 11th, 2021) - With the 'rona continuing to ravage normalcy, we are once again embarking on a shortened and minified bowling season. This time, the same 12 bowlers from Fall 2020 (except swapping out Luke Melton for Jeremy Varnell ) have formed 6 teams of 2 and will embark on a 12-week season (rather than the too-short 8 weeks we did last Fall.)

  • An Extremely Late Fall 2020 Recap (Dec 31st, 2020) - This has been a really busy last several weeks so I apologize that it has take SO LONG to get this out. Here is an abbreviated Fall 2020 Recap, where you can find out who won all the individual awards that we didn't collect prize money for but they still at least matter for bragging rights.

  • LeT it sNow Grabbable (Oct 20th, 2020) - After suffering devastating losses two weeks ago, it's now mathematically possible for Let It Snow to be knocked out of first place next week. • Worst Psychic Ever (Oct 13th, 2020) - The first night of the second half of the season is off to an inauspicious start by our Predictions engine, which completely botched its forecast for tonight. As for the men, Dennis Walling snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Curtis Whiles with a definitely-not-predicted 600. Read on for all the rest of the details!

In our second week JoAnne Barber once again picked up this week's high game (148) and series (356) for the woman, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (257) and series (608) for the men. • Tuesdays Are 37.5% Normal Again (Sep 16th, 2020) - With the bowling alley resuming regular hours this week, the Fall 2020 Mini Season is finally underway. Four teams have entered the 8-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy, as well as the equally-nonexistent cash awards since we have decided to forgo those for such a small group. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (130) and series (340) for the women woman. As for the men, Dennis Walling snagged this week's high game with a 248, and high series was earned by Michael Gordon with a 633. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Spring 2020 Coronalicious Recap (May 4th, 2020) - Though we began this season right as the very first coronavirus quarantine went into place (in Wuhan), there were some other things that happened during our bowling season you probably forgot all about. Such as (in no particular order): League legend Pat Searcy passed after a 2-year battle with cancer. Donald Trump's impeachment trial. Wildfires in Australian. Mass anti-US protests in Iraq. Kobe Bryant died. Brexit. The brink of war with Iran. The Chiefs won the Superbowl. We had a parade.

  • Repo Men (Mar 3rd, 2020) - So far this season, Scootylicious was the first team to take possession of First Place, and maintained its care for three weeks. Then last week they sold it to Pin Is King 3. But the King's coffers were empty and this week they defaulted on the loan, prompting the Bank of KLEAN BAWLZ!!1 to call in the loan and repossess the title.

  • The Cream Rises (Feb 25th, 2020) - The sixth week of Spring 2020 saw quite a bit of activity in the standings, as 7 of the 8 teams ended the night in a new position. • Triple Threat (Jan 28th, 2020) - here's really nothing special about having a multi-team tie for 1st place in the second week of the season, I just couldn't think of any particular fitting title for this week. And because describing this type of tie using normal lingo (a number followed by the word "way") attracts PornBots, we'll just refer to it as a First Place Trifecta. The elements going into this scenario include Carolina Mach (again) picking up this week's high game (147) and series (389) for the women, Ben Spencer snagging this week's high game for the men with a new personal best 240, and Aaron Barber landing high series with a 603. • Fall 2019 Recap (Jan 4th, 2020) -

  • The End of an Era (Dec 4th, 2019) - As our 20th year of bowling came to a close and we prepare to embark on our next 20 years, the bowling alley echoed the moment by ripping out the ball returns and scoring consoles we've been kicking/using since our formation and replaced them with spiffy new ones have no idea the abuse they will soon endure. Despite the myriad of exceptions they annoying quizzed Scoot on last night, See you next Tuesday! remains the championship team so now gets to perform next week's awards presentation, which according to league rules must be done in the form of a musical every 40th season. Next week we meet at our usual time to name all the award winners and hand out prize money (in the meeting room on the Finnegan's side, through the back of the snack bar), followed by 9-pin-tap fun night. • They're Back! (Nov 27th, 2019) - Despite it not being the most likely of the three possible outcomes tonight, See you next Tuesday! managed to clinch the championship a week early! Though it's been a few seasons since we last saw them on top, this makes the third title for this specific team. This is also the third title for Nick Kinney, the fourth for Aaron Barber, the seventh for Jonathan Vigliaturo, and then... twelfth... for Seth Gunderson. Congrats, guys!

  • Sweepage! (Nov 19th, 2019) - As the Fall 2019 season draws closer to its conclusion, a bowling session that went almost exactly as predicted saw four sets of sweeps that led to... no change in the standings except for a flip of the bottom two positions. However, three bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder landed this week's high game for the women with a 151, and women's high series was bagged by Alison Radke with a 402. As for the men, Ben Spencer snagged this week's high game with a 235, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 637. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Keeping It Brief (Nov 6th, 2019) - (Scoot here... I'm taking care of a dog that just came home from surgery while also trying to get some yard work done during this window of good weather, so I'm keeping this writeup short by mostly leaving it as what the bot generated.)

  • Speedy Recap (Mar 26th, 2019) - With about a quarter of the league at the Weezers/Pixies concert (admit it, Phil & Freda, we all know you were there too), the rest of us got to enjoy a speedy evening that finished relatively early. Unfortunately that didn't translate into extra write-up time for Scoot, and since he's very busy today we are going to leave about 90% of this as the computer-generated writeup. The tenth week of Spring 2019 saw two teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (176) and series (491) for the women. • Screwball Season Getting Screwier (Mar 19th, 2019) - This season has seen its share of weirdness -- due both to the number of teams and two both really high and really low games coming from unexpected places. This week was no exception. But next week it will get even weirder.

  • Big Ball Chantal (Mar 12th, 2019) - Many times throughout our history bowlers have bought a new ball and seen immediate improvement in their game. • Fall 2018 Recap (Dec 13th, 2018) -

  • Could Next Week Include a Three-Way? (Nov 27th, 2018) - Well, this is it, we’ve nearly reached the end of the season and the championship round is next week. • Almost A Clean Sweep (Nov 13th, 2018) - This topsy-turvy season continues to get screwier and screwier, as four sweeps and a near sweep continued to stir up the standings. Once in 7th place, BDE this week pulled ahead of the two-time defending champions and found themselves tied for third place. Meanwhile rookie team Teeby Dee, who spent most of the season lingering near the bottom of the standings, suddenly finds a winning record within quick reach and is still mathematically a contender for the trophy. These two teams face each other next week, so this will be the game to watch as the outcome could be BDE moving cleanly into third place or TBD attaining a positive win record.

  • Smokin' The Competition (Apr 17th, 2018) - Until last week, Mary Janes Last Frame had been suffering. They hadn't had a winning week since February 13, so it was good to see their fortunes finally turn last week. However, more noteworthy, MJ is also the only team that is consistently tripping up Witness!!!. Their 7-1 record against Witness (the only team with a winning record against the first-place team) makes one wonder how the championship might turn out if Mary Jane can rally enough in these next three weeks to reach second place in time. Dreaming aside, let's now look at things that and more grounded in reality. For instance, this wee Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (181) and series (488) for the women, while Russell Bingham earned this week's high game (264) and series (645) for the men. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (224) and series (562) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (245) and series (638) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • The 700 Club Grows (Mar 6th, 2018) - For most of us, last night was a bit of an off night. Only a few of us hit our averages consistently, and many of us were well below our norms. The problem might have been that Matthew Taylor sucked up everybody's mojo so he could roll his first (and this season's first) 700+ series! While he as doing that, one team climbed in the standings and another team slipped. Emily Nicolet picked up this week's high game (147) and series (369) for the women, while Matthew Taylor unsurprisingly earned this week's high game (254) and series (707) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Can I Get a Witness!!!? (Feb 27th, 2018) - A delayed fifth week of bowling saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. One of the teams that climbed, defending champions WITNESS!!!, has reclaimed a razor-thin first-place standing. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (231) and series (540) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (234) and series (685) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Happy Marditines Day (Feb 13th, 2018) - The the Tournament of Champions kicked off tonight, beginning of 13 weeks of one-on-one bowling excitement! But it got off to a rocky start, with two divisions performing so poorly that they didn't produce a winner this week. Two teams climbed in the standings, while two teams slipped. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (168) and series (490) for the women, while Russell Bingham earned this week's high game (265) and series (650) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • "We're poopin' pins!" (Jan 30th, 2018) - A night of super blue blood moons and randomly-dropping pins saw three teams climb in the standings, while four teams slipped. In addition, one bowler set a new personal best series. Read on for all the details!

  • 2018 Is Underway (Jan 23rd, 2018) - Spring 2018 began tonight with a welcome to a few new bowlers, a defending champion team that is going to have to fend off multiple challengers, and several bowlers who forgot they were supposed to sandbag. Consequently, two bowlers set a new personal best series, and three rolled new personal high games.

  • Fall 2017 Recap (Dec 13th, 2017) - 36 seasons of bowling are now behind us, and while we didn't set much in the way of records, having 10 teams brought us some new twists and turns and the largest pool of prize money (just shy of $2200) we have seen in quite some time!

  • Another Season, Another Upset (Dec 5th, 2017) - For the second season in a row, a second place team made a shocking comeback at the last possible moment to steal the championship from the expected winner. And, the common element in both comebacks is Aaron Barber. Is he a good luck charm that teams will fight to recruit in the off-season?

  • Holy NotContra, Batman! (Nov 28th, 2017) - With the last regular night of bowling in the history books, the remote possibility of the season ending in a three-way tie has faded away. Instead, next week Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! will attempt to protect their cherished first-place position from their only remaining challenger: NotContra.

  • Balloween (Oct 31st, 2017) - With tonight being Halloween, almost half the league was bewitched by demons and unable escape from the dark presence of Satan long enough to roll. For those of us who surrounded ourselves with sufficient garlic, silver, and holy water to avoid all of the evil, here is how tonight's games went.

  • Finally, A Leader Emerges (Oct 24th, 2017) - Our position round has brought us a first in the Fall 2017 Seasoon. For the first time this season, a team has moved into first place that has more than just a 1-game lead!

  • Break Out The Scissors! (Oct 10th, 2017) - It's been a while since we've had to cut the scoresheets in half due to a printing error. But it's also been a while since we've had 10 teams and week 8 wasn't the position round. So how did everything shake out after tonight's massive cut-and-paste job?

  • Who's On First? (Sep 27th, 2017) - While Mustache Cash Stash technically remains in first place by total pins, there are three teams tied for first place and a total of 5 teams that are within a game of first place. To have so many teams so close together at the top of the standings by week 6 is absolutely unprecedented in the history of our league. No, that's not hyperbole, I went through the week 6 standings of every past season and there has never been such a massive tie before by this point in the season.

  • Cash Stash Lashes First With Panache (Sep 19th, 2017) - Being Lamewads, we here at Gutteralley can't claim to know what "Mustache Cash Stash" means or what the Google Image Search images that we found mean. But we do know enough to know that MCS = this week's first-place flavor-of-the-week.

  • Led By The Lefties (Sep 5th, 2017) - The two teams that feature right-handed bowlers who are bowling left-handed this season are leaving the rest of us in the dust. Have they uncovered a shocking new bowling secret???

  • Spring 2017 Recap (May 19th, 2017) - 35 seasons of bowling are now behind us, and while this season may not have set a lot of records, it still has a few firsts and a lot of fun moments. And the surprise come-from-behind championship win by Omaha Hambone marks the first title win in quite some time that didn't come from ne of the long-time dynasties.

  • Nate Silver Predicted 71.4% Likelihood Frankee's Uncles To Sweep Championship (May 10th, 2017) - In an effort to fully understand the situation facing the league going into tonight, we asked renowned statistician Nate Silver to take a look at the numbers. Noting that Omaha Hambone would need to win an unpresidented [sic] FIVE games in a row to win the championship, and that Omaha Hambone lost three games to Frankee's Uncles the last time they faced each other, the analysis revealed a 71.4% chance of the Uncles sweeping the Hambone, and a 99.973% chance of an Uncle championship overall. But, because November 8, 2016 exists, we all know exactly how this turned out...

  • Can the Dark Horse Still Win? (May 2nd, 2017) - Probably not. :) Tonight was the last night of regular-season bowling, and next week decides it all! As is stands now, Omaha Hambone would have to sweep and then win the roll-off in order to defeat the perennial champs. However, Hambone is currently 4-4 against the Uncles, only won one game when they last faced each other, and last enjoyed a sweep 4 weeks ago. Sure, they may pull off a huge upset, but it's looking quite unlikely. How did it come to this?

  • Tightening the Grip (Apr 25th, 2017) - Next week is the last week of regular season bowling, and after a season that at first seemed to be heading toward finally letting someone else win for a change, it appears the dark overlords are getting a tighter grasp on yet another victory. Just two weeks left for any of the remaining competition to make a play!

  • Another RoboWriteup :( (Apr 18th, 2017) - Sorry, folks. Scoot only got 3 hours of sleep last night, so we have to do another computer-generated writeupo this week. :( Sorry about that!

  • Mopping It Up (Apr 12th, 2017) - Tonight was a night of almost all sweeps, and saw a formerly near-last-place team barrel its way into the top half of the standings. Meanwhile the formerly first-place team became increasingly frustrated with their inability to regain the lead and it cost them their most precious commodity.

  • The RoboWriteup (Apr 5th, 2017) - Scoot had a lot he needed to do tonight and didn't have time to write a recap, so this week's update is the automated, computer-generated version. Sorry about that!

  • Bowl To The Future (Feb 22nd, 2017) - Okay, get ready for this, our league has just undergone time travel and split off into an alternate reality. Last night while working up the scoresheets, things just weren't adding up no matter what Scoot tried. After a great deal of frustrating recap sheet auditing, it finally came to our attention that a blind series we had recorded for Michael Gordon back in Week 3 had actually been pre-bowled and we never got the scores for it. So, moments ago, week 3's scores were re-entered, and all affected matchups since then have been re-calculated. The result is a history of the past 3 weeks considerably different from the one we have already experienced. In this new timeline, Ebowla experienced a week as the first-place team, and Frankee's Uncles are now enjoying their second week in first place.

  • Goodness Gracious, Great Balls of Fire! (Feb 8th, 2017) - Tonight was a night of some pretty incredible games. With two veterans setting new personal high games, one setting a new personal high series, and people rolling well above their average in every one of our matchups, tonight was literally smoking

  • Inaugurating the Spring Season (Jan 21st, 2017) -

  • 2016 Is A Wrap (Dec 21st, 2016) - With 34 seasons of bowling now behind us, the Fall 2016 season ended tonight as the 3rd best season in league history in terms of combined league average. Congratulations, everyone, on a great season!

  • Same Result, with a Tiny New Twist (Dec 6th, 2016) - Congratulations to Seth and Ashlee Gunderson on the birth this morning of their first child, Spring 2038 women's high game scratch winner Frankee Belle Gunderson! (Oh also also congratulations to Seth and his team for winning the championship yet again...)

  • Up In The Air (Nov 29th, 2016) - All bowling scores are in, and the headline for this write-up doesn't need to change! After ruling the roost all season, Vote JV is now in a tie with the team that is trying very hard to live up to the namesake of its acronymous name. It litterally comes down to who wins next week!

  • Look At Some Cute Things While Reading About Bowling (Nov 9th, 2016) - Scoot tried several times last night to get this write-up going, and even had various sets of images already loaded up to go with a theme for either way the election went. But he just couldn't bring himself to do it, and decided that what this nation needs now more than anything else is a bowling recap to help us heal. (Pictured left: Freda & Carl reconcile after some heated post-bowling election night bickering.)

  • Halfway Done! (Oct 11th, 2016) - It's on. Despite all the sickness and injuries and disappearing team members, our league came back to form in a big way this week. This week was our league's strongest showing since April 19 and the second-strongest performance we've seen so far in 2016. We had more 200+ game tonight (14) than we've seen in any week so far this season. The season is now halfway over, and while last season's champions remain in the lead, a challenger is finally emerging who is chipping away at their lead.

  • A Fractured League Enters Midseason (Oct 4th, 2016) - Our decimated league is now approaching the position round, and yet another injury takes yet another bowler out for the the season. Let's al wish the best for both Mark DeVoe and Kody Karnes on their individual roads to recovery! Meanwhile, nobody moved in the standings this week. Which only makes sense, considering how few league members can even walk.

  • Humptastically Excited about First (Sep 27th, 2016) - In a season that seems to almost be cursed, for the first time this season, every real team had a full roster despite four bowlers being absent. Not that that mattered in any way for keeping the defending champions from making an early start at running away with the season once again.

  • Don't Tread On Mead (Sep 20th, 2016) - Tonight was supposed to see our league finally as full as it's going to get this season, but like several other bowlers our new guy was infected with pestilence. However, Michael Mead showed up and inoculated us with a shot of kick-ass bowling that rocketed him to the top of the individual standings.

  • Tournament Takes Off, Ray & Stevie Take It Slow (Sep 14th, 2016) - For the first time in league history, the team rolling against the Blind (Vacancy) Team not only didn't finish early, they were actually the last to finish. Meanwhile a late addition to the league (Ben Spencer) made for a complicated first week for the Tournament of Champions, and next week will be equally complicated when another new bowler -- likely the last new bowler this season -- will join us. And, finally, find out how the Carolina Reaper may come into play this season.

  • Sweepage (Sep 6th, 2016) - All four matchups ended in sweeps tonight. Who did the sweeping and who wound up in the dustbin? The answers to these questions and more, in this week's episode of All My Gutterballs.

  • Dustin-Hofmann (Aug 30th, 2016) - Apart from some sexy new bowling shirts making a debut, the biggest development tonight was some pretty amazing performances by two of our non-anchors. Congratulations to Dustin and AJ on some mighty fine bowling tonight!

  • A Split-It First? (Aug 23rd, 2016) - For what could very well be the first time ever in their 9-season history, Split It & Hit It is in first place! How did it come to this? Read on to find out...

  • Spring 2016 is History (May 24th, 2016) -

  • Why Did Pocahontas Leave Her Hairpiece By The Campfire? (May 18th, 2016) - Tonight, on our last real night of bowling, we were joined by several new people that had never rolled in our league all season. It was the strangest thing, though... none of them were ever seen at the same time as Amber, Michelle S., Angela, Bob, Kody, or John Boren. Very! weird!

  • Back to Back Clinchings (May 10th, 2016) - Not even the threats of Mexican wrestlers and their drug lord sidekicks could keep Fallop Ian from clinching the championship!

  • Escaping the Flood (Apr 26th, 2016) - Tonight bowling ended nearly half an hour earlier than usual, allowing everyone to get home without drowning or getting struck by lightning. Due to a combination of weather and Scoot being really tired, we'll be using the computer-generated writeup tonight. Sorry about that! :(

  • Tailgating! (Apr 19th, 2016) - When bowling begins with a tailgating session — certainly a first in our league's history and very possibly a first in the history of AMF Pro Bowl — it's an omen that more unexpected things are in store. With new records set and trash talk backfiring, this was definitely an evening of surprises.

  • From Everyone Here, to Barely a Soul Left (Apr 12th, 2016) -

  • A Royal Mess (Apr 5th, 2016) - You can always tell when the Royals are playing -- every team that has people related to Freda on it has absent bowlers. Bowling went quickly for most, though we can't report on everything until Fallop Ian post-bowls.

  • Fear The Cheese (Mar 29th, 2016) - Why, oh why, do people continue to deny the power of The Cheese Stick Curse? Time and time again, the power of the molten mozzarella has been proven!

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! (Mar 22nd, 2016) - Bookended by a lack of movement, the 6 teams not at the extremes all saw shuffling in the standings in this week's position round. Though it's doubful anyone noticed over all the celebratory hollering down on lane 48.

  • Almost No Change (Mar 8th, 2016) - Despite some major upsets tonight, the only change in the standings was a slight fliop between Split It and Bowlgasmic.

  • Slow and Steady Wins the Race (Mar 1st, 2016) - Many in our league did not stick around to witness the end of bowling tonight. Nay, not even their children, nor their children's children, would serve as witnesses. But one day, far in the future, the final bowling matchup of the night will come to an end. Will we still be human then, or will we have evolved into a new, more enlightened species?

  • Fallop Ian Squeezes Through a Small Lead (Feb 23rd, 2016) - Half of tonight's matchups saw underdogs come out on top, while the other half saw bullies beat up on their prey. Which way did each matchup go? Read on to find out.

  • The 11th Frame -- Week 3, Spring 2016 (Feb 19th, 2016) - This week we look at the accomplishments of a couple of bowlers and make some Tournament of Champions predictions.

  • Theory of Relativity Proven (Feb 16th, 2016) - Just days after the announcement that gravity waves were detected, another portion of Einstein's Theory of Relativity was proven tonight when the matchup that involved Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! finished in less time than any other matchup! Granted, they shed half of their mass in order do do it, but it's all part of the famous equation.

  • Six More Weeks of Cheese Sticks (Feb 2nd, 2016) - Groundhog Day saw Glory Bowl leapfrog to 3rd place and an unSetherized Fallop Ian continue to make an early claim on repeating first place.

  • The 11th Frame -- Week 1, Spring 2016 (Jan 28th, 2016) -

  • Off And Rolling (Jan 26th, 2016) - The first week of our 33rd season began with lots of laughter and reunions, progressed through lots of beer, and ended with four teams rubbing their sore butts.

  • We’re Full! (Jan 11th, 2016) -

  • Full of Turkey, No One Wants to Move (Nov 24th, 2015) - Turkey week saw lots of turkeys but no movement in the standings, likely due to everyone being overloaded on tryptophan.

  • Seans of the Deadly (Nov 4th, 2015) - With most of the league coming off their Royal high and returning to bowling, the Seans came out fighting and Salt Water Taffy continues their lead but gave a very slight hint of vulnerability. Or is that just called lulling the rest of the league into false hope?

  • Taffy Pulls Further Ahead (Oct 20th, 2015) - Phil and Ian both set new personal bests tonight, and 4 teams moved into a tie for second place.

  • Midterms Already? (Oct 13th, 2015) - With the position round already upon us, one bowler reached a new milestone, one bowler left us, and a "former" bowler returned to take his place.

  • Fall 2015 Preview: Milestones to Watch For (Aug 25th, 2015) -

  • Freda Finishes... First? (May 5th, 2015) - The championship ends the season wit the thinnest of win margins, the team that waS in last place most of the season opts to forfeit to regain their status, and an unlikely team was the first done bowling.

  • 7-10! (Apr 28th, 2015) - Champs crowned, splits splatted, pins righted, what DIDN'T happen this week?

  • The League is Stuck! (Apr 21st, 2015) - Two weeks in a row have produced stagnant standings, but a record was shattered anyway!

  • Some Taxing Matchups (Apr 14th, 2015) - Bowlers getting tax refunds bowled well, bowlers who owe bowled terribly, and bowlers who haven't started their taxes at all yet were no-shows. Who fell into what category? Read on to find out.

  • Smokin'! (Apr 7th, 2015) - Due to Scoot being overwhelmed with work this week's synopsis is computer-generated, though he took the time to call out a few milestones...

  • Coe Golfs A Perfect 18! (Or something like that) (Mar 31st, 2015) - On the far left set of lanes, one team tripled their record from the first half of the season. On the far right hand set of lanes, a 300 was rolled. What else happened?

  • Yabba Dabba Dublin (Mar 17th, 2015) - With several bowlers too bloated from binge-drinking shamrock shakes all day, bowling didn't take nearly as long tonight as it usually does. Unfortunately half of the teams Grimaced while the other half hoarded all or most of the lucky charms.

  • Bowlers On Fire! (Mar 10th, 2015) - A record high temperature inside the bowling alley wasn't the only record set tonight...

  • Getting Positioned (Mar 3rd, 2015) - How are things shaping up for next week's position round? Have a look and find out...

  • Balls of Amazingness (Feb 25th, 2015) - Another odd week of bowling shakes up the top of the standings, but little else!

  • Sorry, Charlie (Feb 18th, 2015) - Jake Parrott had quite the night, how did the other 18 bowlers who managed to show up last night do? Read on to find out!

  • Nearly a Complete Reshuffle (Feb 10th, 2015) - With another week awaiting post-bowling scores, the full update cannot be calculated but it was pretty apparent that Week #4 action contained a lot of reshuffling of teams in the league standings...

  • Battle Tested, Brunker Approved (Jan 27th, 2015) - With two weeks of the Spring 2015 season in the books, six – count 'em, SIX! – bowlers are currently carrying averages above the 200 mark. The number six also made its mark in the league standings this week as that number of teams swapped places. Did we also mention that Carl Goetz shot a 666 series? Spooky.Ready to get all the details? You know what to do...

  • Wasting No Time (Jan 20th, 2015) - The Spring 2015 session kicked off Tuesday night and Kody Karnes wasted absolutely no time at serving notice that his team looks to repeat as champions. Setting a 237 average, Karnes quickly re-established his team at the top of the heap. Can they keep it until the Finals in May? Only time will tell...

  • A New King is Crowned (Dec 10th, 2014) - Sixteen weeks ago 32-bowlers on 8 different teams started out all with the same record of zero wins and zero losses, scheduled to do battle with one another at least twice. Tuesday night saw the end results of those slugfests with the men of the brashly named 921+ walking away as the champions of the Fall 2014 season of GutterAlley action.Find out how the Finals went...

  • For Whom the Bell Tolls (Dec 2nd, 2014) - The Finals lineup is now set for the Fall 2014 season of GutterAlley, our 30th Finals since we started this crazy league back in late 1999. Look how far we have come: in the very first season, it was a rare occurrence if anyone shot a 200 game. Now, we have people that average that on a weekly basis. This season has also seen more 200+ games than ever before, a testament as to how much we've improved over the past decade and a half.

  • Turkeys Galore (Nov 25th, 2014) - Turkeys, turkeys, turkeys...damn, there were a LOT of turkeys thrown during GutterAlley action in Week #14. Currently on pace to see more 200+ games than any other season in league history, twenty-two games of 200+ were thrown by more than a third of the roster this week alone. The top two teams in the league remained tied atop of the heap with The Finals just a hop, skip, and a jump away. Let's do this...

  • Eye on the Prize (Nov 18th, 2014) - GutterAlley action in Week #13 ended with the only two teams that have occupied first place in a tie at 34 wins apiece, potentially setting the stage for a winner-takes-all showdown in the Finals three weeks away. Two other teams, however, remain in striking distance as the Fall 2014 season marches on.

  • Vets Battle on Veteran's Day (Nov 11th, 2014) - As the nation paid its respects to those who served our country in the armed forces, the bowlers in GutterAlley showed little to no respect to those with any affiliation as they jockeyed for wins before the Finals arrive next month. While only two teams switched spots in the league standings, gaps are starting to form in-between the various teams throughout setting up what is sure to be an interesting finish to the season.

  • He's Baaaaaaack (Nov 4th, 2014) - With baseball season finally over, perfect attendance was *almost* achieved as 31 of the league's 32 bowlers showed up to do battle Tuesday night. Net result? Six teams swapped places while several bowlers make their own personal history with their highest games and series to date.Needless to say it was quite a night in GutterAlley action...

  • 9...3...4 (Oct 28th, 2014) - For more than six years, the men of Ain't No Sh!T enjoyed sitting atop one of the most impressive league records of all-time – their 921 single game team output. Tuesday night, however, saw that score moved to 2nd place as four new guys moved to the top of that mountain after some stellar output...and climbing to within two games of the current league leaders. Can they catch them before the Finals? Only time will tell.

  • The Royals Treatment (Oct 21st, 2014) - Some big scores were rolled Tuesday night, including a 10-in-a-row Game #3 out of rookie Aaron Barber who ended his night with the 4th highest score ever shot in league history. Week #9 action cannot be fully reported yet, due to the current league leaders needing to post-bowl, but we're pretty sure Barber will come away with the story of the night.

  • Sprinting into the Position Round (Oct 7th, 2014) - With the position round coming next week, teams put up their last ditch efforts in an attempt to better their spot within next week's matchup. Some big games and series were rolled as five teams switched spots in the league standings.

  • The Crickets Have Stopped (Sep 30th, 2014) - Better late than never, right? The results from Week #6 are now in and they include quite a few surprises...check 'em out.

  • Number One Sons (Sep 23rd, 2014) - My Three Sons continue to dominate the league with a clean sweep of the team with the most output in league history, led by Ian Goetz's very first 700+ series. Rob Kaszuba put up his first MVB of the season to bring Dixie Stampede out of the gutter. All in all, Week #4 action saw some big action.

  • Dixie Stampeded (Sep 16th, 2014) - This week only two teams managed to climb in the standings --- one of those scoring a major upset that shook up one end of the standings. Read on to learn the details...

  • The Second Week Shuffle (Sep 2nd, 2014) - Week #2 watched as nearly every team moved into a new spot in the league standings. Many averages rose while just as many fell from their initial week debuts but none moved as much as Matt Bunyard's this week...wow.Want the details? You know what to do.

  • Welcome to the Fall 2014 Season! (Aug 26th, 2014) -

  • The Home Stretch (Apr 15th, 2014) - Just a few short weeks back, it looked like Pinterest's crowning as the champions of the Spring 2014 season was just a matter of time due to their huge lead over the rest of the league. Now with less than a month until the Finals we're quickly learning that a couple of other teams are not quite ready to give up the fight. As the march until the final showdown on May 13th continues, the lead has evaporated to merely 3.5 games proving that it's not over quite yet...especially considering that the three teams still in it face one another over the next three weeks.
