Who Ordered the Calamari?

Posted by BowlingBot January 30, 2024 Spring 2024, Week 2 View Score Sheets

The second week of Spring 2024 saw two teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. In a week completely bereft of women to showcase, Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (204) and series (598). And while it's way too early for anyone to be staking claims, a new league leader emerged with a lightly fried breaded coating served up with roasted peppers and a bit of butter. Read on for all the rest of the details!

Settle down, guys, you have 14 more weeks of work to do before you can put your tentacles on the trophy.

On lanes 1 & 2, Squid Row and Glory Bowl clashed in a showdown that had the pins rolling willy-nilly into the lane to escape the barrage of balls. Matthew Taylor, or Squidward as he is is affectionally called at home, flaunted his above-average 524 series, leading his team to a triumphant three wins against the resilient Glory squad. Meanwhile, Kent Harms, the Chief Hole Tester for Glory Bowl, orchestrated a tactical approach with his better-than-normal 506 series, clinching a lone win. Squid Row is on fire, leaping two spots to claim the throne in 1st place, while Glory takes a slide, sinking one spot to 6th.

Moving on to lanes 3 & 4, where Schindler's Fists tried to throw some punches at the Sun Dolphins. #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Aaron Barber, the undisputed powerhouse of the evening, unleashed his pin prowess with an above-average 598 series, securing one win for the Fists. However, the spotlight shifted to Scott Thompson of the Dolphins, who dazzled with a better-than-normal 458 series, guiding his team to a triumphant three-win spectacle. Schindler's Fists may have dropped a spot to 2nd place, but the Dolphins are holding their ground water in 4th.

And now, down on lanes 5 & 6, DB Lenz a Hand squared off against the Grumpy Old Men in a clash of styles. Jeremy Varnell, the sharpshooter for Lenz Handlers, showcased an above-average 436 series, steering his team to a commanding three-win victory against the Grumps. Major kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Chris Lenz for the stellar leadership! On the Grumpy side, AJ Hofmann, with a slightly-off 538 series, salvaged a lone win. DB Lenz a Hand boldly climbs one spot to secure 5th place, while the Grumps find themselves slightly cranky as they descend one spot to 3rd.

Bowlers rolling into The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (200,204), AJ Hofmann (202), and Kent Harms (203)

The 598 rolled by Aaron Barber is this season's new high series for men.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 3rd-place Grumpy Old Men (hcp 24) will battle 2nd-place Schindler's Fists. Grumps are expected to perform well and sweep the series; while Fists are forecast to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 5th-place DB Lenz a Hand (estimated hcp 57) will tussle with 1st-place Squid Row. Lenz Handlers might maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Squids ought to drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 4th-place Sun Dolphins (estimated hcp 57) will socialize with 6th-place Glory Bowl. Dolphins are predicted to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Glory is anticipated to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
