Cutting It Close

Posted by ScooterJ October 18, 2022 Fall 2022, Week 9 View Score Sheets

Though the standings continue to remain unchanged, this week the third-place team came within mere pins of entering into a tie for second. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (150) and series (402) for the women, while her sweet widdle noogums Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (232) and series (611) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Glory Bowl cut things close with Sun Dolphins, resulting in a tie for total series. Highlighting the skills of Most Valuable Bowler Nicholas Knight and his above-average 457 series, the Glorious collected 2.5 wins against the dolphins. Across the ball return, Ryan Sisco with his 473 series drew the spotlight of the dolphins despite his team losing the matchup with only 1.5 victories. Glory Bowl remains in 6th place, while the dolphins remain in 5th.

On lanes 3 & 4: In the closest of shaves, Balderdash kept it a constant nailbiter with I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter. With top billing by Matthew Taylor with his below-average 527 series, the balder dashers split the series with the nonbelievers. As for the opposition, James Tott with his better-than-normal 558 series guided the nonbelievers as they matched their opponent in wins. Every game was decided by fewer than 10 pins, basically the final ball rolled. Both game two and series were each decided by a single pin. Balderdash remains in 4th place, while the nonbelievers just barely remain in 3rd.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: AJ's Minions shared a few beers with Baby Beardo. In spite of the prowess of Jeromy Harris with his above-average 536 series, the minions accomplished only 1 win against the minibeards. On the other lane, #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Aaron Barber and his miraculous 611 series took the lead among the Beardettes as his team took the match with 3 wins. AJ's Minions remains in 2nd place, while the Beardo Babies remain in 1st.

Bowlers who god roofied at The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (232), James Tott (222), and Seth Gunderson (211)

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Seth Gunderson triumphed over his enemies in Division 1, while nobody claimed victory in Division 2, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 2 as it was a complete embarassment. Aaron Barber claimed victory in Division 3, and Scott Thompson routed Division 4. In terms of overall points: Nick Kinney holds the reins in Division 1; Ben Spencer dominates Division 2; Aaron Barber runs the show in Division 3; and Ray Scott tops Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 4th-place Balderdash will chill with 2nd-place AJ's Minions (hcp 76). The balder dashers are expected to perform well and sweep the series; while the minions are forecast to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 5th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 163) will match wits with 1st-place Baby Beardo. The dolphins might roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the Beardettes ought to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 3rd-place I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter (hcp 24) will chuck some balls with 6th-place Glory Bowl. The nonbelievers are predicted to maintain their current strength as they just barely lose the series; while the Glorious are anticipated to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
