Bowloween

Posted by ScooterJ October 25, 2022 Fall 2022, Week 10 View Score Sheets

The tenth and spookiest week of Fall 2022 saw one team climb from the grave, while one team plunged into the darkened pits of Hell. JoAnne "Bride of Franken"-Barber picked up this week's high game (145) and series (409) for the undead women, while Michael Gordon's mummified corpse earned this week's high game (235) and series (614) for the night of the living men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: In what was truly the scariest matchup of the night, at least for one team, Balderdevils held a seance with AJ's Demons. Blessed by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Michael "Myers" Gordon and his magnificent 614 series, the balder devils enjoyed a clean sweep over the demons. As this was happening, AJ Frankenhofmann with his 489 series guided the demons despite his team getting swept. Balderdevils leaps 2 spots in the standings to 2nd place, while the demons plunge 2 spots to 4th... from once being within grasp of first to now barely having a winning record at all..

New pre/post bowling drinks option: Hillsiders. 403 N 5th (catty-corner to Breits). See more details about this and other hangouts on our Nearby Hangouts page.

On lanes 3 & 4: With half of one team off killing vampires and half the other team off being vampires, Satan's Dolphins found themselves in a blood-curdling struggle Nosferatu's Beard. Despite being led by Scott "Van Helsing" Thompson with his above-average 447 series, the dolphins accomplished only 1 win against the Beardettes. Over on the other side, Count Carl Goetz with his 583 series ruled the Beard as his team took the match and several more necks with 3 wins. Satan's Dolphins remain in 5th place, while the Beardettes remain in 1st.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: I Can't Believe It's Freddy Krueger did the monster mash with Glory Disembowlers. While headlined by Jeremy Varnell-Hyde with his above-average 455 series, the Kruegers managed only 1.5 wins against the Disembowlers. Among the other players in the match, Most Valuable Bowler Wolfman Lavery and his straight-up ludicrous 442 series took charge of the Glorious as his team took the match with 2.5 wins. I Can't Believe It's Freddy Krueger remains in 3rd place, while the Disembowlers remain in 6th, and now 2/3 of the league has ".5" as part of their win-loss records.

Bowlers dragged into The 200 Club in body bags include: Ben Spencer (224), Carl Goetz (216,221), Dennis Walling (214), and Michael Gordon (235,201)

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Dennis Walling eradicated Division 1, while Ben Spencer had his way with Division 2. Aaron Barber creamed Division 3, and Collin Lavery walloped Division 4. In terms of overall points: Dennis Walling reigns over Division 1; Ben Spencer is in the driver's seat in Division 2; Aaron Barber calls the shots Division 3; and Ray Scott holds the reins in Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 3rd-place I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter will chuck some balls with 5th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 28). The nonbelievers are expected to roll a little low and just barely lose the series; while the dolphins are forecast to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 6th-place Glory Bowl (hcp 11) will meet with 4th-place AJ's Minions. The Glorious might roll a little low and get swept; while the minions ought to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 2nd-place Balderdash (hcp 12) will socialize with 1st-place Baby Beardo. The balder dashers are predicted to have a bit of an off night, but split the series with the Beardettes; while the Beardettes are anticipated to hold steady as they keep the series tied.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
