Baby Beardo Crawling Away

Posted by ScooterJ November 15, 2022 Fall 2022, Week 13 View Score Sheets

Only three weeks of games-that-count bowling remain, and while it's still not a mathematically insurmountable league, Baby Beardo appears to be crawling toward a championship. Meanwhile, one bowler set a new personal best series. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (128) and series (380) for the women. As for the men, Carl Goetz and Kent Harms both tied for this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Kent Harms with a 637. Read on for all the rest of the details!

But before we get to that, a few quick housekeeping items: (1) Scoot won't be at bowling the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, so the scoreboards will not be set up. However you will still have use of the scoring tablets. (2) This same Tuesday is also the last night a new sub can be used. (3) AFTER This week, Jonathan Vigliaturo is the only sub qualified to play in the remaining games (apart from Fun Week). (4) If you aren't paid in full, please get remaining bowling fees to Scoot by the first week of December.

Now on to the good stuff...

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: 3/4 of AJ's Minions matched wits with 3/4 of Balderdash. Propelled by the rarely-deployed skills of Scott Murdock with his spectacular 563 series, the minions collected 3 wins against the balder dashers. Lurking creepily behind them against the back wall, Michael Gordon with his 533 series oversaw the balder dashers despite his team notching only a single win. AJ's Minions remains in 3rd place, while the balder dashers remain in 2nd.

On lanes 3 & 4: I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter celebrated their love of all things balls with Glory Bowl. Though featuring Jeremy Varnell with his above-average 428 series, with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Pat Hamell, the nonbelievers accomplished only 1 win against the Glorious. On the other half of the score sheet, #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Kent Harms and his straight-up ludicrous 637 series showed off for the Glorious as his team took the match with 3 wins. I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter drops 1 spot in the standings to 5th place, while the Glorious move up 1 spot to 4th. And yes, we know it sounds weird for someone to get MVB with only one win, but sometimes that's just how the math works out!

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: In their continuing effort to make the championship a foregone conclusion before week 16, Baby Beardo had a rendezvous with the perpetually forgetful Sun Dolphins. Starring Aaron Barber with his mesmerizing 634 series, the Beardettes collected 3 wins against the dolphins. Among the other players in the match, Ryan Sisco with his 465 series shone in the dolphins despite his team notching only a single win. Baby Beardo remains in 1st place, while the dolphins remain in 6th.

Bowlers paying far too much for watered-down McCormick vodka at The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (205,223,206), Carl Goetz (234), Dennis Walling (201), Kent Harms (200,203,234), Nick Kinney (221,205), Ryan Sisco (215), and Scott Murdock (219)

A new personal best series was rolled tonight by Kent Harms (637, previous best 601).

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: AJ Hofmann claimed victory in Division 1, while Kent Harms swept Division 2. Aaron Barber spanked Division 3, and Pat Hamell ruled Division 4. In terms of overall points: Dennis Walling runs the show in Division 1; Scott Murdock tops Division 2; Aaron Barber calls the shots Division 3; and Scott Thompson holds the reins in Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 1st-place Baby Beardo will roll against 5th-place I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter (hcp 144). The Beardettes are expected to maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while the nonbelievers are forecast to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 3rd-place AJ's Minions will compete against 6th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 64). The minions might maintain their current strength as they and split the series with the dolphins; while the dolphins ought to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 4th-place Glory Bowl (hcp 88) will hang out with 2nd-place Balderdash. The Glorious are predicted to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the balder dashers are anticipated to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
