  • Spring 2020 Coronalicious Recap (May 4th, 2020) - Though we began this season right as the very first coronavirus quarantine went into place (in Wuhan), there were some other things that happened during our bowling season you probably forgot all about. Such as (in no particular order): League legend Pat Searcy passed after a 2-year battle with cancer. Donald Trump's impeachment trial. Wildfires in Australian. Mass anti-US protests in Iraq. Kobe Bryant died. Brexit. The brink of war with Iran. The Chiefs won the Superbowl. We had a parade.

  • Repo Men (Mar 3rd, 2020) - So far this season, Scootylicious was the first team to take possession of First Place, and maintained its care for three weeks. • Triple Threat (Jan 28th, 2020) - here's really nothing special about having a multi-team tie for 1st place in the second week of the season, I just couldn't think of any particular fitting title for this week. And because describing this type of tie using normal lingo (a number followed by the word "way") attracts PornBots, we'll just refer to it as a First Place Trifecta. The elements going into this scenario include Carolina Mach (again) picking up this week's high game (147) and series (389) for the women, Ben Spencer snagging this week's high game for the men with a new personal best 240, and Aaron Barber landing high series with a 603. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Fall 2019 Recap (Jan 4th, 2020) -

  • Sweepage! Freda Schroeder landed this week's high game for the women with a 151, and women's high series was bagged by Alison Radke with a 402. As for the men, Ben Spencer snagged this week's high game with a 235, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 637. Read on for all the rest of the details!

As for the men, Ian Goetz snagged this week's high game with a 287, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 706. Read on for all the rest of the details!

The final week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (186) and series (513) for the women, while Matthew Taylor earned this week's high game (237) and series (628) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Clinched! (Apr 23rd, 2019) - Originally I was going to leave this week's as a robo-writeup due to me having another busy week, but then CICK Ass screwed that up for me by accomplishing something I had failed to notice they could do this week: they clinched the championship two weeks early! This makes the first championship for Chantal Jacot, 6 for Ian Goetz, a staggering 13 for Carl "Tits" Goetz, and an even more staggering 14 for Ken M. Wilson (sheesh!). Congratulations to all four of you!

  • Historic League Records Go Up In Smoke (Apr 16th, 2019) - The unlucky thirteenth week of Spring 2019 featured the rise of the Antichrist, who entered our world specifically to shatter a whole slew of league records. It also saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and two rolled new personal high games. Alison Radke picked up this week's high game (170) and series (424) for the women, while Satan himself AJ Hofmann earned this week's high game (279) and series (672) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Fall 2018 Recap (Dec 13th, 2018) -

  • EIGHT-BALLED UPSET!!!!! (Dec 4th, 2018) - The Fall 2018 season draws to a close, with 8 Balls officially earning this season's championship title! But we aren't quite finished yet -- next week we will meet at our usual time to name all the award winners and hand out prize money (in the meeting room on the Finnegan's side, through the back of the snack bar), followed by 9-pin-tap fun night. The final week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (191) and series (451) for the women. As for the men, Michael Gordon and Russell Bingham both tied for this week's high game with a 224, and high series was earned by Russell Bingham with a 605. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Week 14 Semi Robo Recap (Nov 27th, 2018) - NOTE: Scoot was out of town when post-bowling scores came in and just got back late last night, so this will remain a robo-writeup except for a few special items highlighted below. As for the men, Aaron Barber snagged this week's high game with a 225, and high series was earned by Curtis Whiles with a 604. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Hitting A Wall (Oct 9th, 2018) - We are now halfway through the Fall 2018 season, and the league seems to have hit a brick wall. Other than a tit-for-tat between BDE and We Don't Give A Split, no teams were able to budge in the standings with just a week to go before Position Round.

  • Week 6 RoboRecap (Sep 25th, 2018) - The sixth week of Fall 2018 saw two teams climb in the standings, while one team slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (167) and series (446) for the women. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (199) and series (522) for the women, while Aaron Barber earned this week's high game (257) and series (609) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Spring 2018 Recap (Jul 11th, 2018) -

  • A Third Three Hundred! (Apr 24th, 2018) - While the standings didn't change at all tonight, quite a lot actually happened. Before we get into the big story of the night, we will take a moment to remember some of the other people who accomplished things tonight. Monica Hufford picked up this week's high game (188) and series (474) for the women. As for the men, Dennis Walling snagged this week's high game with a score that we'll get to in a moment. High series was earned by Kody Karnes with a 699. Read on for all the rest of the details!

  • Fall 2017 Recap (Dec 13th, 2017) - 36 seasons of bowling are now behind us, and while we didn't set much in the way of records, having 10 teams brought us some new twists and turns and the largest pool of prize money (just shy of $2200) we have seen in quite some time!

  • Another Season, Another Upset (Dec 5th, 2017) - For the second season in a row, a second place team made a shocking comeback at the last possible moment to steal the championship from the expected winner. And, the common element in both comebacks is Aaron Barber. Is he a good luck charm that teams will fight to recruit in the off-season?

  • Holy NotContra, Batman! (Nov 28th, 2017) - With the last regular night of bowling in the history books, the remote possibility of the season ending in a three-way tie has faded away. Instead, next week Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! will attempt to protect their cherished first-place position from their only remaining challenger: NotContra.

  • NOT NotContra (Nov 22nd, 2017) - With only one week remaining before the final position round, only three teams are mathematically still in the hunt for this season's championship. But a chant of "NOT NotContra" has been gaining momentum, that may or may not, have started on lanes 1 and 2 tonight.

  • Beware Of Doug (Nov 14th, 2017) - There was some pretty freaking amazing rolling tonight. JoAnne Gordon rolled a new personal best series (405) and new high game (157). Michael Smith rolled a new personal best series (464) and tied his personal high game of 192. Ben Spencer broke his previous best game with a 199. Dennis Blake and Aubrey Moren were both on fire. Nick Kinney went insane with a 268. But nobody came close to what sub / 5th-man Doug Bonney did tonight.

  • Spring 2017 Recap (May 19th, 2017) - 35 seasons of bowling are now behind us, and while this season may not have set a lot of records, it still has a few firsts and a lot of fun moments. And the surprise come-from-behind championship win by Omaha Hambone marks the first title win in quite some time that didn't come from ne of the long-time dynasties.

  • Nate Silver Predicted 71.4% Likelihood Frankee's Uncles To Sweep Championship (May 10th, 2017) - In an effort to fully understand the situation facing the league going into tonight, we asked renowned statistician Nate Silver to take a look at the numbers. Noting that Omaha Hambone would need to win an unpresidented [sic] FIVE games in a row to win the championship, and that Omaha Hambone lost three games to Frankee's Uncles the last time they faced each other, the analysis revealed a 71.4% chance of the Uncles sweeping the Hambone, and a 99.973% chance of an Uncle championship overall. But, because November 8, 2016 exists, we all know exactly how this turned out...

  • Tightening the Grip (Apr 25th, 2017) - Next week is the last week of regular season bowling, and after a season that at first seemed to be heading toward finally letting someone else win for a change, it appears the dark overlords are getting a tighter grasp on yet another victory. Just two weeks left for any of the remaining competition to make a play!

  • Another RoboWriteup :( (Apr 18th, 2017) - Sorry, folks. Scoot only got 3 hours of sleep last night, so we have to do another computer-generated writeupo this week. :( Sorry about that!

  • The RoboWriteup (Apr 5th, 2017) - Scoot had a lot he needed to do tonight and didn't have time to write a recap, so this week's update is the automated, computer-generated version. Sorry about that!

  • The Uncles Wiggled Back Up (Mar 28th, 2017) - Last week left things with the top three teams only one game apart. Now they are three games apart and a new leader has emerged.

  • Bowl To The Future (Feb 22nd, 2017) - Okay, get ready for this, our league has just undergone time travel and split off into an alternate reality. Last night while working up the scoresheets, things just weren't adding up no matter what Scoot tried. After a great deal of frustrating recap sheet auditing, it finally came to our attention that a blind series we had recorded for Michael Gordon back in Week 3 had actually been pre-bowled and we never got the scores for it. So, moments ago, week 3's scores were re-entered, and all affected matchups since then have been re-calculated. The result is a history of the past 3 weeks considerably different from the one we have already experienced. In this new timeline, Ebowla experienced a week as the first-place team, and Frankee's Uncles are now enjoying their second week in first place.

  • Our Gutters ♥ Your Balls (Feb 14th, 2017) - While many bowlers were either absent or pre-bowled, most of the league knew what their true love is and spend Valentine's evening chucking balls down the lane.

  • So Shines a Good Deed in a Weary World (Jan 31st, 2017) - With so much darkness and suffering in our country and the world the last 11 days, it is nothing short of miraculous when a tiny ray of light cuts through the darkness and brings hope to a world in sorrow. So, Omaha Hambone, we thank you.

  • Spring 2017 Kickoff! (Jan 24th, 2017) - Our 35th season kicked off with what could very well turn out to be the most fund, least competitive season we have had in years. A dozen rookies make up more than a third of the league, so anything goes!

  • 2016 Is A Wrap (Dec 21st, 2016) - With 34 seasons of bowling now behind us, the Fall 2016 season ended tonight as the 3rd best season in league history in terms of combined league average. Congratulations, everyone, on a great season!

  • Up In The Air (Nov 29th, 2016) - All bowling scores are in, and the headline for this write-up doesn't need to change! After ruling the roost all season, Vote JV is now in a tie with the team that is trying very hard to live up to the namesake of its acronymous name. It litterally comes down to who wins next week!

  • Thankful For a More Interesting Championship (Nov 22nd, 2016) - In what was a very short night for everybody except the poor schmoes on the first pair of lanes, things suddenly have become potentially very interesting as we close in on the Championship round. Suddenly the team that has been running away with first place all season is finding themselves needing to fight for it. How did this happen?

  • Look At Some Cute Things While Reading About Bowling (Nov 9th, 2016) - Scoot tried several times last night to get this write-up going, and even had various sets of images already loaded up to go with a theme for either way the election went. But he just couldn't bring himself to do it, and decided that what this nation needs now more than anything else is a bowling recap to help us heal. (Pictured left: Freda & Carl reconcile after some heated post-bowling election night bickering.)

  • No Change (Nov 1st, 2016) - You'd think that with new bowlers continuing to be introduced 11 weeks into the season, that we'd see some changes in the standings. But nope, not this week, every team stayed exactly where they were!

  • Ten. (Oct 25th, 2016) - You'd think we wouldn't be welcoming a new bowler into the league in Week 10, but hey, this is the Fall 2016 season so anything goes. And, in typical Fall 2016 season, the team he was going to bowl on didn't show up. But that's okay, he got to kick ass for another team instead.

  • Pops Tops Pins (Oct 18th, 2016) - We begin the second half with no movement in the standings, at least not so far. However the matchup between the top two teams can't be reported until the alphabet team post-bowls on Monday.

  • Halfway Done! (Oct 11th, 2016) - It's on. Despite all the sickness and injuries and disappearing team members, our league came back to form in a big way this week. This week was our league's strongest showing since April 19 and the second-strongest performance we've seen so far in 2016. We had more 200+ game tonight (14) than we've seen in any week so far this season. The season is now halfway over, and while last season's champions remain in the lead, a challenger is finally emerging who is chipping away at their lead.

  • A Fractured League Enters Midseason (Oct 4th, 2016) - Our decimated league is now approaching the position round, and yet another injury takes yet another bowler out for the the season. Let's al wish the best for both Mark DeVoe and Kody Karnes on their individual roads to recovery! Meanwhile, nobody moved in the standings this week. Which only makes sense, considering how few league members can even walk.

  • Humptastically Excited about First (Sep 27th, 2016) - In a season that seems to almost be cursed, for the first time this season, every real team had a full roster despite four bowlers being absent. Not that that mattered in any way for keeping the defending champions from making an early start at running away with the season once again.

  • Don't Tread On Mead (Sep 20th, 2016) - Tonight was supposed to see our league finally as full as it's going to get this season, but like several other bowlers our new guy was infected with pestilence. However, Michael Mead showed up and inoculated us with a shot of kick-ass bowling that rocketed him to the top of the individual standings.

  • Sweepage (Sep 6th, 2016) - All four matchups ended in sweeps tonight. Who did the sweeping and who wound up in the dustbin? The answers to these questions and more, in this week's episode of All My Gutterballs.

  • Dustin-Hofmann (Aug 30th, 2016) - Apart from some sexy new bowling shirts making a debut, the biggest development tonight was some pretty amazing performances by two of our non-anchors. Congratulations to Dustin and AJ on some mighty fine bowling tonight!

  • Spring 2016 is History (May 24th, 2016) -

  • Why Did Pocahontas Leave Her Hairpiece By The Campfire? (May 18th, 2016) - Tonight, on our last real night of bowling, we were joined by several new people that had never rolled in our league all season. It was the strangest thing, though... none of them were ever seen at the same time as Amber, Michelle S., Angela, Bob, Kody, or John Boren. Very! weird!

  • Back to Back Clinchings (May 10th, 2016) - Not even the threats of Mexican wrestlers and their drug lord sidekicks could keep Fallop Ian from clinching the championship!

  • Escaping the Flood (Apr 26th, 2016) - Tonight bowling ended nearly half an hour earlier than usual, allowing everyone to get home without drowning or getting struck by lightning. Due to a combination of weather and Scoot being really tired, we'll be using the computer-generated writeup tonight. Sorry about that! :(

  • A Royal Mess (Apr 5th, 2016) - You can always tell when the Royals are playing -- every team that has people related to Freda on it has absent bowlers. Bowling went quickly for most, though we can't report on everything until Fallop Ian post-bowls.

  • Fear The Cheese (Mar 29th, 2016) - Why, oh why, do people continue to deny the power of The Cheese Stick Curse? Time and time again, the power of the molten mozzarella has been proven!

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! (Mar 22nd, 2016) - Bookended by a lack of movement, the 6 teams not at the extremes all saw shuffling in the standings in this week's position round. Though it's doubful anyone noticed over all the celebratory hollering down on lane 48.

  • Is the Championship In the Cards? (Mar 15th, 2016) - With the midseason position round coming up next week already, one team already seems destined for the championship. Fallop Ian began the season in first place and, despite a few challengers, has yet to relinquish that spot. Will the position round bring about an end to their streak? We'll find out next week.

  • The 11th Frame -- Week 6, Spring 2016 (Mar 11th, 2016) -

  • Almost No Change (Mar 8th, 2016) - Despite some major upsets tonight, the only change in the standings was a slight fliop between Split It and Bowlgasmic.

  • Theory of Relativity Proven (Feb 16th, 2016) - Just days after the announcement that gravity waves were detected, another portion of Einstein's Theory of Relativity was proven tonight when the matchup that involved Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! finished in less time than any other matchup! Granted, they shed half of their mass in order do do it, but it's all part of the famous equation.

  • Six More Weeks of Cheese Sticks (Feb 2nd, 2016) - Groundhog Day saw Glory Bowl leapfrog to 3rd place and an unSetherized Fallop Ian continue to make an early claim on repeating first place.

  • The 11th Frame -- Week 1, Spring 2016 (Jan 28th, 2016) -

  • Let's Try This Again... It's Time to Bowl! (Jan 22nd, 2016) -

  • Welcome to the Spring 2016 Season! (Jan 11th, 2016) -

  • Taffy Sticks It! (Dec 1st, 2015) - Salt Water Taffy earned a rare Week 14 championship clinching! Congratulations to Jonathan, Ian, Seth, and Carl on their victory this season!

  • Someone is Cornholing the League (Nov 10th, 2015) - Holy Sandbaggers, Batman, has swept 3 weeks in a row and faces the blind team next week. Could a new threat to the Taffy domination be emerging?

  • Midterms Already? (Oct 13th, 2015) - With the position round already upon us, one bowler reached a new milestone, one bowler left us, and a "former" bowler returned to take his place.

  • Hawking Gets Taffy Pulled (Sep 22nd, 2015) -

  • Shaking It Up (Sep 1st, 2015) - The standings were severely shaken up this week, with nearly every team moving and many of them moving quite a bit. Read on to see how it all shook out.

  • Sandbaggers Away! (Aug 25th, 2015) - Failing to live up to their name, Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! took an early lead tonight, sending their their opponents, It's A Trap!, to the bottom of the standings. Hopefully that's a trap they can escape from next week. Read on to see how the rest of the night came together...

  • Fall 2015 Preview: Milestones to Watch For (Aug 25th, 2015) -

  • Our Best Season Ever is History! (May 19th, 2015) -

  • Freda Finishes... First? (May 5th, 2015) - The championship ends the season wit the thinnest of win margins, the team that waS in last place most of the season opts to forfeit to regain their status, and an unlikely team was the first done bowling.

  • 7-10! (Apr 28th, 2015) - Champs crowned, splits splatted, pins righted, what DIDN'T happen this week?

  • Coe Golfs A Perfect 18! (Or something like that) (Mar 31st, 2015) - On the far left set of lanes, one team tripled their record from the first half of the season. On the far right hand set of lanes, a 300 was rolled. What else happened?

  • AmazeBallz Upsets (Mar 24th, 2015) - Tonight, in the 10th week of bowling, Ballz Out won more games than they had in the previous 9 weeks combined. What other dramatic upsets happened tonight? Read on to find out...

  • Balls of Amazingness (Feb 25th, 2015) - Another odd week of bowling shakes up the top of the standings, but little else!

  • Nearly a Complete Reshuffle (Feb 10th, 2015) - With another week awaiting post-bowling scores, the full update cannot be calculated but it was pretty apparent that Week #4 action contained a lot of reshuffling of teams in the league standings...

  • The Cream Rises (Feb 3rd, 2015) - The same teams that sat atop the league standings last season are back at it after the results of Week #3. Big scores and even bigger series continue to be put up by the league as a whole as the 32-person roster currently sits at the 2nd best season of all time mark. Not a bad start, gang. Not a bad start at all.See how it all played out...

  • Battle Tested, Brunker Approved (Jan 27th, 2015) - With two weeks of the Spring 2015 season in the books, six – count 'em, SIX! – bowlers are currently carrying averages above the 200 mark. The number six also made its mark in the league standings this week as that number of teams swapped places. Did we also mention that Carl Goetz shot a 666 series? Spooky.Ready to get all the details? You know what to do...

  • Wasting No Time (Jan 20th, 2015) - The Spring 2015 session kicked off Tuesday night and Kody Karnes wasted absolutely no time at serving notice that his team looks to repeat as champions. Setting a 237 average, Karnes quickly re-established his team at the top of the heap. Can they keep it until the Finals in May? Only time will tell...

  • A New King is Crowned (Dec 10th, 2014) - Sixteen weeks ago 32-bowlers on 8 different teams started out all with the same record of zero wins and zero losses, scheduled to do battle with one another at least twice. Tuesday night saw the end results of those slugfests with the men of the brashly named 921+ walking away as the champions of the Fall 2014 season of GutterAlley action.Find out how the Finals went...

  • For Whom the Bell Tolls (Dec 2nd, 2014) - The Finals lineup is now set for the Fall 2014 season of GutterAlley, our 30th Finals since we started this crazy league back in late 1999. Look how far we have come: in the very first season, it was a rare occurrence if anyone shot a 200 game. Now, we have people that average that on a weekly basis. • Turkeys Galore (Nov 25th, 2014) - Turkeys, turkeys, turkeys...damn, there were a LOT of turkeys thrown during GutterAlley action in Week #14. • He's Baaaaaaack (Nov 4th, 2014) - With baseball season finally over, perfect attendance was *almost* achieved as 31 of the league's 32 bowlers showed up to do battle Tuesday night. Net result? Six teams swapped places while several bowlers make their own personal history with their highest games and series to date.Needless to say it was quite a night in GutterAlley action...

  • 9...3...4 (Oct 28th, 2014) - For more than six years, the men of Ain't No Sh!T enjoyed sitting atop one of the most impressive league records of all-time – their 921 single game team output. Only time will tell.

  • The Second Week Shuffle (Sep 2nd, 2014) - Week #2 watched as nearly every team moved into a new spot in the league standings. What a week!

  • Three Up, Two Down (Apr 16th, 2013) - With huge outputs across the league all season from the same handful of bowlers, the biggest performances during Week #12 came from unlikely sources. Not too bad for a debut bowler. Curious how everyone else fared? Good...

  • He’s Baaaaaaaaaaaack! (Mar 26th, 2013) - What do you get when you cross Steve Kiernan and a 2+ month absence from the bowling league? Why, a 700+ series...that's what! Ready to see how the rest of the league stacked up? Hop to it, then...

  • Arkansas Ass Kickin' (Mar 19th, 2013) - Almost not showing this week, Bill Krejci – the anchor of the appropriately named Murder, He Wrote – arrived fashionably late to deliver an incredible performance in this season's position round to propel his team to a mere half-game out of first place. Step right in, then...

  • The 11th Frame: Week 5, Spring 2013 (Feb 21st, 2013) -

  • One Pin Ken (Feb 20th, 2013) - The record for the highest series ever thrown in GutterAlley's history has stood since Week 6 of the Spring 2008 session, when Don Glasscock put up a 770 series. While it still stands as the best, one lousy pin kept Ken M. Wilson from not only throwing a perfect game but also from creating a score that would have bested Don's series. • Fo'to Finish (Feb 5th, 2013) - So after three weeks of bowling, four teams – count 'em, 1-2-3-4 – all have the exact same record. How did the rest of the league standings shape up? Let's get onto that write-up, shall we?

  • The Dark Knight Rises (Nov 7th, 2012) - For the third time this season, another team has taken over the top spot on the league standings. With 28 games still left to win, it's honestly anyone's title to take. Will your favorite team make the most of these next seven weeks?

  • Position Round Repositionings (Oct 16th, 2012) - With only two teams staying put, every other team found itself in a new spot on the league standings after the position round. • They Didn't Split It, They Hit It (Sep 11th, 2012) - Week #3 is now in the books and with it came some surprises across the league: the last place team upset the first place team; two bowlers shot over 250+ while another shot over 240; several seemingly-impossible splits were picked up; and, in the end, several games were settled by the slimmest of margins. Ahh, GutterAlley...bring me the scoop!

  • The Cream Rises (Sep 4th, 2012) - Highly volatile Week #2 reshuffled the league standings, putting six of the eight teams in a new spot. • V for Victory (Apr 11th, 2012) -

  • Every Pin Counts (Apr 3rd, 2012) - We've said it before and we'll say it again...every pin counts. • Oh, Bowling...I Love You! (Feb 14th, 2012) - Valentine's Day is typically a time in which you spend your evening with your true love. • The Big Finish (Dec 13th, 2011) - What a whirlwind finish to the Fall 2011 season – Ryan Doll shoots a 700+ series, 5 out of the eight teams swapped places in the league standings, and several people rolled their all time personal best games and series including this week's Most Valuable Bowler Eric Summers. Not a bad way to end it all, eh?

  • Futility for the Finals (Dec 6th, 2011) - Freda Schroeder, Phil Schroeder, Dennis "Pops" Laube, and Aubrey Moren finished what they set out to do this season – winning a championship. Besting all other teams en route to the season's best record, No Pinheads were crowned the Fall 2011 champions a full week before the Finals. How's that for a finish? As it turns out, every single team will face the team they faced this week in the Finals. Again, how's THAT for a finish? And, anyone have any idea why Pops looks like he's constipated in their championship photo to the left?

  • Two Games Away (Nov 29th, 2011) - The members of No Pinheads have been in first place since Week #4. Here we are in Week #14 and they are only two games away from ending any doubt as to which team will come away with the championship crown in the Fall 2011 season. Only two weeks remain and, with only one team even able to knock them out, things are looking pretty good for them. Not a single team managed to move up or down this week, despite some stellar games from a few individuals. Ready to hear how everyone did? Let's go, then...

  • NEW FEATURE: The Over/Under Factor (Nov 23rd, 2011) -

  • Happy Thanks-taking! (Nov 22nd, 2011) - Later this week, many of us will enjoy a feast with our loved ones over a wonderful dinner. Tuesday night, however, three teams in our league made meals out of their opponents on the lanes to begin their holiday week. With one team still waiting to find the results of their matchup due to their competition opting to post-bowl early next week, as it stands at the moment not a single team moved up or down in the league standings. Will this change once the final scores are tallied? We'll have to wait and see...

  • Obviously You're Not a Golfer (Nov 15th, 2011) - Only three more weeks or regular season bowling remain before the eight teams of the Fall 2011 season march into the Finals. Theoretically, any one of four teams could come away with the crown but time is quickly running out. While none of those teams exchanged places in the league standings, the gaps in-between them have tightened setting up these last few weeks for quite a showdown. Two surprising and outstanding performances came to light Tuesday night with Sarah Sauer and Kelly Sands earning #1 Power Ranked Bowler and MVB nods respectively. How did everyone do, though? Let's find out...

  • The Lad and the Legend (Nov 8th, 2011) - Nine different bowlers hoisted games in the 200+ range Tuesday night but, despite the heavy hittings of the pins, only two teams managed to swap places in the league standings. Despite the moves, the gaps in-between teams have shrunk setting the stage for a fun final month of the Fall 2011 season. Can league leaders No Pinheads hold onto first place for the remainder of the season? Only time will tell. And who the hell let Pat Searcy into NKC Pro Bowl?!? Find out why in this week's update...

  • Maintaining the Status Quo (Nov 2nd, 2011) - Week #10 had big games...big series...big wins. And yet, hardly anything changed in the league standings. With the Finals a mere six weeks away, if someone plans to challenge the current standings leaders they best make their move soon before it's too late.

  • Still On Top (Oct 25th, 2011) - No Pinheads continues to sit atop the standings, a full eight games ahead of the rest of the league. In the Spring 2008 session, these same four bowlers wrapped up their season as league champions. They seem to be on pace to finish on top but the rest of the league has other plans. Is it too late to catch them or is the fun just getting started? Ready to find out how everything went down this week? Let's get it on.

  • Hall of Fame Nominees: Spring 2011 (Oct 25th, 2011) - The GutterAlley Hall of Fame was created to commemorate and honor those individuals that best represent the bowling league throughout its rich history. Six league luminaries have been selected to grace this season's ballot. Congratulations to Bob Brunker, Carl Goetz, Dennis "Pops" Laube, Janelle "Nellie" (Laube) Lamar, Jason Carpio, and Pat Searcy. Now it's up to you, the bowling community, to vote for your favorites...

  • The Untouchables (Oct 5th, 2011) - Like several seasons before, No Pinheads has dominated the first half of the season. Will this be the season that they can keep up this pace and carry it all the way through the Finals? Seven other teams have plans to derail them on their quest. With the position round just around the corner, there's no telling how things will shape up as the season continues.

  • Constant Focus (Sep 27th, 2011) - Week #5 wrapped up Tuesday night and, with it, five different teams swapped places in the league standings. Second through sixth place shuffled with the biggest move in the positive belonging to Kitten Mittons, compliments of an outstanding performance by this Ryan Simonet...

  • Orion Win-kaid! (Sep 20th, 2011) - Week #4 is now in the record books and with it came six of the eight teams in the league switching places in the standings. Orion Kinkaid put on the performance of the season thus far, earning both MVB and #1 Power Ranked Bowler status. A third team has now ascended to the top of the league and we're only a quarter of the way through the season. The Fall 2011 session is truly a wild one, that's for sure...

  • Hard Fought Finals (May 17th, 2011) - The 23rd season of the VML Bowling League has come to a conclusion with S*I*C*K winning the top spot in the standings. The outcome from the Finals was very much lop-sided with only half of the league coming up with wins as four – count 'em, FOUR! – sweeps were dished out on the last night of league bowling. Talk about a big finish.Ready to find out how your favorite team performed? Let's go.

  • Analysis: Season Favorites (May 17th, 2011) -

  • Get 'er Done (May 10th, 2011) - A western-theme washed over Week 15 as the bowlers of GutterAlley showed up to find the NKC Pro-Bowl packed with hundreds of cowboys and cowgirls enjoying a company party. This merely set the stage as the shootouts began to gain some ground in the last week of regular season bowling before the Finals next week. While no teams actually exchanged places in the league standings, ground was gained by several teams in preparation for the last week to earn more money in the prize fund envelopes.

  • Hangin' Tough (Apr 26th, 2011) - Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's...Dolls and Balls. With the team firing on all four cylinders after a season of ups and downs, Dolls and Balls looks poised to be the team to beat at the moment. While the rest of the league knocks around – albeit with league leaders S*I*C*K still adding more wins to their record each week – Dolls and Balls stands on the brink of taking over first place if they can continue their momentum heading into the last few weeks before the Finals. These last few weeks could create quite a bit of drama...

  • Big Games, Big Wins (Apr 19th, 2011) - Something was definitely in the water (or beer) during Week 12 as numerous big games came out of seemingly nowhere to bring about some much needed victories. With the Finals less than a month away, it's now or never if teams are going to propel themselves higher up in the standings en route to the title. Heeding that call, several teams rose to the occasion and added more notches in their win columns against some pretty tough competition. S*I*C*K continues to lead all teams, but is their time at the top coming to an end? We'll certainly know here in the next couple of weeks...

  • Rally of the Dolls (Apr 12th, 2011) - When the league began, Ryan Doll claimed that his team this season was "just for fun." Throw in unexpected arm surgery on his bowling arm and a roster member that has been there only once during the 11 weeks of the season so far, you'd think that they wouldn't be ranked that high in the league standings. Well, that's not even close to the case. Moving into 2nd place tonight after an impressive return to the lanes, Dolls and Balls is definitely on the move. Ready to see how the league rolled? Let's do this.

  • Momentum? No-mentum! (Mar 29th, 2011) - As the second half of the Spring 2011 season got underway Tuesday evening, teams began their 7-week tour of duty to face off against everyone once again with The Finals now less than two months away. The results of this week were somewhat surprising, with teams that performed well in the position round last week unable to carry forward that momentum. Ready to see how everyone rolled? Let's check it out...

  • Compromising Position Round (Mar 22nd, 2011) - The position round is now in the history books and with it came quite the reshuffling of the teams in the league standings. Six of the eight teams swapped places after all was said and done. Pretty impressive, eh? Once again we find the standings tightening up.Find out where your favorite team now sits by reading this week's write-up.

  • Touch It for the Win (Mar 15th, 2011) - Seven weeks. Eight teams. The first half of the league is now complete with each team having faced one another once. With the outcome of this week, we now know who will face off next week in the mid-season position round. The surprise of the evening easily goes to Touch My Vlad who notched their first sweep "against real people" (to quote Sarah Manning). Congrats, Vlad!Ready to see how everyone else did right before the rolloff?

  • Dedication, Devotion...and Destruction (Mar 8th, 2011) - With the position round just two weeks away, teams are slowly gravitating towards their standings opponents in what should be a do or die rolloff week on March 22nd. For now, Week #6 managed to keep everyone in their current spots with two exceptions as No Pinheads bunny hopped SucmaBOWLS. Not complacent with the status quo, the league was treated to a nice showing of dedication from Dolls and Balls' anchor Ryan Doll who despite having recently had surgery performed on his bowling arm showed up to keep his team from forfeiting and rolled with his opposite hand to keep his team in the running. Ready to see how everyone did as the first half of the season nears its end?

  • Winning. Duh. (Mar 2nd, 2011) - Now THAT'S more like it. With the results of Week #5 in the books, the league standings have now become much more interesting. Poised to run away with the season and never look back, current standings leaders S*I*C*K instead crashed and burned as 2nd through 4th place added big wins to their records. A mere 2.5 games now separate the top half of the league's roster.Ready to get the full story?

  • Chip Off the Old Block (Feb 22nd, 2011) - We're now a month into the league and the league standings are offering up some surprises. While S*I*C*K continues to distance themselves from everyone else, there's been quite the shakeup in the teams in the 2nd through 4th place spots. Several powerhouse teams continue to struggle while other teams savor the sweet nectar of victory at their expense. This week's breakout performance easily goes to Ian Goetz, pictured to the left. Rolling his all-time personal best game and series, Goetz one-upped his father and teammate Carl for the first time all season. Good rolling definitely runs in the family.Ready to see how everyone did?

  • Let Them Eat Pins (Feb 15th, 2011) - The league's third week is now in the books and with it comes half the teams possessing a winning record, providing our first glimpse at true diversity in the standings. While the two teams that met in the Finals two seasons ago continue to remain at the top, Eat Split and DI made quite an impressive leap up into 3rd place after routing No Pinheads Tuesday night behind a great performance from this week's Most Valuable Bowler, AJ Hofmann.Ready to find out how everyone did? Well, let's dive in...

  • WIN-ter Wonderland (Feb 8th, 2011) - While even more snow fell onto the Greater Kansas City area, the rollers of the VML Bowling League were making pins fall as Week #2 got underway. No one made more pin topple Tuesday than Carl Goetz, pictured on the left. After all was said and done, the same two teams remain tied atop the league standings while the rest of the league tightened up enough where 1.5 games separate 3rd through 8th place.Ready to find out how your favorite teams performed? Let's go, then...

  • Time to Pick Teams (Jan 11th, 2011) - Two weeks from today, the next session of the VML Bowling League starts up. With that looming on the horizon, 'tis time to pick teams.Want to find out which teams are already fully-formed? Well, check it out...

  • It's 2011: Open Recruitment! (Jan 3rd, 2011) - The 2011 Spring league is now forming. We're aiming to have a full 40-person roster and spaces are filling up rather nicely in order to meet our goal. We still need some more people, though. The next session begins on Tuesday, January 25th at the NKC Pro Bowl in North Kansas City, Missouri. Are you interested in bowling? If so, please let us know.

  • Happy Holidays! (Dec 15th, 2010) - The Fall 2010 bowling season officially came to a conclusion Tuesday night with the disbursement of the prize fund and individual awards. The final results of the season favorite awards were also announced. Congratulations to all of the winners! The next session of the league will begin on Tuesday, January 25th. Hope to see you there!

  • It's a Wrap! Finals Next Week (Nov 30th, 2010) - This season's powerhouse team proved to be the Pin Pricks as they clinched the title one week before the Finals. Congratulations to Ian Goetz, Carl Goetz, David Codding and Ken M. Wilson for winning the 2010 Fall season of the VML Bowling League. While the rest of the league spread themselves out quite a bit on the second to last week of bowling, the teams in 2nd and 3rd place end up with a mere half of a game separating one another. The season's individual achievements reached an ending as well with eight bowlers lined up to receive additional money in their envelopes at the end of the season. Want to find out who garnered the extra green? Read on...

  • Scoot'ing Right Along (Nov 9th, 2010) - French novelist Alphonse Karr coined the expression "the more things change, the more they stay the same." Such is the case, for the most part, in the VML Bowling League's standings for yet another week. While two teams did manage to swap places, the real story comes with the bowlers of Ground Zero Mosque. Having amassed a record of 11-5 since the position round, they continue to gain ground on the top teams in the league. Is it too late in the season for them to reach the top?

  • The Mighty Mosques (Nov 2nd, 2010) - As the league moves into the month of November, there is still little movement in the league standings. However, the distance between the teams is radically changing. The first place team continues to distance themselves from the rest of the pack while the rest of the league tightens up around the middle. For the second week in a row, third place Ground Zero Mosque gains ground in the standings as they inch closer to overtaking 2nd place No Pinheads. With only five weeks remaining until the Finals, will these same teams remain in their respective spots or will there be a shakeup? Only time will tell...

  • Win, Lose or Split (Oct 26th, 2010) - With the position round behind everyone now, you'd think that there would start to be some kind of shift taking place in the league standings. Amazingly this is not the case in the VML Bowling League. Week 10 came and went with little to no standings-based fanfare, although some pretty important games were won that could make quite a difference in the long run.One team seems on its way to breaking into the top half of the standings, disrupting the stronghold that Kitten Mittons, Ground Mosque Zero, No Pinheads and the Pin Pricks have held onto since the start of the season...

  • She Gives Me Vict'ries When I'm In Need (Oct 19th, 2010) - As the season's schedule restarts itself, each team faced a familiar opponent. Barring the outcome of the post-bowling matchup between the Pin Pricks and Feed the Monkey, every team that rolled Tuesday night met with radically different results than their initial meeting back in August. Despite the wins and losses, only had two teams swapped places in the league standings.Ready to see how everyone did? Read on...

  • Slowly Chipping Away (Sep 28th, 2010) - Having led the league since Week #2, the bowlers of No Pinheads found their lead cut down to a single game after narrowly taking a 3-1 victory over Bowl Movement this week. A two pin victory in Game #2 keeps them atop of the league standings...but with three other teams within striking distance of over taking the #1 spot, can they hold onto it long enough to win the title?Find out how everyone did in Week #6...

  • Goetz On Up (Sep 21st, 2010) - Five weeks into the season and the league is starting to show signs that standings leaders No Pinheads may soon be vacating the #1 spot they've held for a month straight now. With an outstanding performance by the Pin Pricks' Carl Goetz along with solid output from Kitten Mittons, Ground Zero Mosque and Bowl Movement, only 5 games separate the top six teams. With the position round due up in three weeks, things could get rather interesting rather quickly...

  • Can They Be Stopped? (Sep 14th, 2010) - One month into the bowling league and the members of No Pinheads are definitely kicking ass and taking names. With an 11-game winning streak under their belts at the moment, the team continues to distance themselves from the rest of the pack. However, the teams beneath them continue to battle it out in an effort to derail their championship efforts. Case in point? An unlikely bowler brought her A game this week while securing Most Valuable Bowler honors and derailing the reigning champions from inching within striking distance of the current league leaders...

  • Ups and Downs, Ins and Outs (Sep 7th, 2010) - During Week #3, some things stayed the same – No Pinheads still remain the team to beat – while some thing radically changed. After a forgettable Week #2, one bowler managed to completely reverse his team's fortunes with a powerful performance to earn this week's MVB nod while pushing them into third place. On the flip side, Feed the Monkey and Ground Zero Mosque took a brutal beating at the hands of their competitors. Want the full scoop? Read on...

  • NEW FEATURE: Power Rankings (Sep 3rd, 2010) -

  • A Rare Feat (Aug 24th, 2010) - The VML Bowling League officially kicked off Tuesday night with a mixture of long-tenured veterans alongside fresh new faces making up the cast of characters. Nine new rookies made their debut this season, including a last minute substitution called in at the final minute after another rookie announced he was dropping out from the league before even getting started. Two teams accomplished a rare feat, though, by sweeping their opponents on the first night – something that has only happened a handful of times throughout the years. On paper, these two teams are scheduled to face one another in the Finals but with the season just getting underway, it's still truly anyone's season to win. Want to find out how everyone did? Read on...

  • And They're Off...! (Aug 24th, 2010) - The 22nd season of the VML Bowling League officially begins tonight. With only seven teams signed up, this is the smallest crew we've had since the Fall 2002 season. The Finals are a full four months away. Which two teams will end up facing one another in the championship matchup? Rest assured, returning champions Ian Goetz, Carl Goetz and Ken M. Wilson will do their best to defend their crown and return to the Finals but with several brand new teams in the mix, it's anyone's guess as to who will emerge victorious. So, without further adieu, let's get this party started!
