Lucky Harms

Posted by ScooterJ November 1, 2022 Fall 2022, Week 11 View Score Sheets

Though this week's bowling session fell on the Day of the Dead, several of you were dressed as if it were St. Patrick's Day for some reason. Because of this, and because Kent Harms won the trifecta this week, and only because it makes for a good pun and no other reason, Kent gets to be the headliner this week despite Carl Goetz earning this week's season's high game (241) and this week's high series (591) as the opening act. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Wielding four more balls than usual, I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter learned that it truly does require a woman's touch when dealing with Sun Dolphins. Despite being propelled by James Tott with his (we'll call it late-season sandbagging) 404 series, the nonbelievers got swept by the dolphins. Scott Thompson with his better-than-normal 433 series drew the spotlight of the dolphins as they swept the competition. I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter remains in 3rd place, while the dolphins remain in 5th.

On lanes 3 & 4: In a fairly closely-matched lineup Glory Bowl somehow received completely unnecessary handicap pins from AJ's Minions. Showcasing trifecta-winner (#1 Head-to-Head, #1 Power-Ranked, and Most Valuable Bowler) Kent Harms and his above-average 540 series, the Glorious landed a clean sweep over the minions. Across the ball return, Scott Murdock with his better-than-normal 478 series kept trying to steal Kent's Lucky Harms but was thwarted at every turn. Glory Bowl remains in 6th place, while the minions remain in 4th.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: Despite an initial scare when a belt broke on lane 6, that was soon repaired and this matchup got underway after just a very short delay. But Balderdash may have preferred a longer malfunction delay to further aggravate Baby Beardo. In spite of top-billing by Matthew Taylor with his below-average 507 series, the balder dashers accomplished only 1 win against the Beardettes. On the flipside, Carl Goetz with his 591 series dominated the Beardettes as his team took the match with 3 wins. Balderdash remains in 2nd place, while the Beardettes remain in 1st.

Bowlers who vomited in the alley behind The 200 Club include: Ben Spencer (218), Carl Goetz (241,202), and Kent Harms (201)

The 241 rolled by Carl Goetz is this season's new high game for men.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Dennis Walling clobbered Division 1, while Scott Murdock whipped Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 3 as it was a complete embarassment, and Scott Thompson mopped up Division 4. In terms of overall points: Dennis Walling tops Division 1; Ben Spencer dominates Division 2; Aaron Barber calls the shots Division 3; and Scott Thompson reigns over Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 6th-place Glory Bowl (hcp 104) will socialize with 1st-place Baby Beardo. The Glorious are expected to maintain their current strength as they get swept; while the Beardettes are forecast to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 5th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 152) will chuck some balls with 2nd-place Balderdash. The dolphins might roll a little low and get swept; while the balder dashers ought to drop their average a bit even as they rack up a sweep.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 3rd-place I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter (hcp 40) will share a couple of pitchers with 4th-place AJ's Minions. The nonbelievers are predicted to maintain their current strength as they and split the series with the minions; while the minions are anticipated to hold steady as they keep the series tied.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
