Position Round Robin

Posted by Ken On March - 18 - 2014ADD COMMENTS

The Spring 2014 season is officially now half way complete and it's pretty apparent that the current league leaders are showing no signs of slowing up whatsoever. After amassing an incredible 28-4 record – winning 87.5% of their games so far – Pinterest is openly declaring the second half of the season as a battle for second place amongst everyone else still rolling as they are gunning for the best record in league history. Week #8 action witnessed half the league switching spots in the league standings but the road to taking over the top spot from Pinterest is a long shot. Here's how the position round played out...As already reported, Pinterest is on a tear this season. Refusing to drop a single game to their opponents, the current league leaders demolished The Finger Holes to take a 6-game lead over the rest of the league. Behind Ian Goetz and his 620 series, Pinterest has secured the 2nd best first half win record in league history. Aubrey Moren put up the most fire power for The F-Holes with his 539 series but it simply wasn't enough to derail the Pinterest express. The Finger Holes slip one spot down into 3rd place.Down a pair on lanes 43 & 44, last season's champs Bowltron looked to get back into the season but fell short against opponents Schwetty Balls. After a 50-pin victory in Game #1, mainly behind Bill Krejci's team-leading 630 series, Bowltron set their sights on victory but – ready for this? – Schwetty's very own Scott Murdock put up a 582 series to turn the tides and propel his team to a 3-1 matchup victory. The wins hop Schwetty Balls up into 2nd while Bowltron remains entrenched in 4th place. This season, the Twerking Balls' powerhouse Teresa Deterding has been putting up the best season of her GutterAlley career. This week she notched her fifth career Most Valuable Bowler performance with her team-leading 498 series as she battled opponents Mark It Zero to a standstill in their matchup. A pre-bowling Kody Karnes put up not only the highest series for Mark It Zero but also for the league with his 633 in the 2-2 effort. Neither team moved up or down in the league standings with Mark it Zero remaining in 5th and the Twerking Balls in 6th place. The final battle of the night featured last year's break out team Split It & Hit It throwing down against UpgrayeDD. Returning to form, primarily behind sub Todd Way and his 582 series (which landed him #1 Power Ranked bowler honors), Split It logged their first sweep of the season and moved up into 7th place in the process. UpgrayeDD, led this week by Josh Robison and his 420 series, topple one spot down into 8th place. The Tournament of Champions rolls on:Division 1 = Ian Goetz (19), Seth Gunderson (9)Division 2 = Scott Murdock (15), Phil Schroeder (13)Division 3 = Teresa Deterding (12), Rob Kaszuba/Josh Robison (8)Division 4 = Michael Smith (12), Michael Gordon (12)Bowlers positioning themselves in The 200 Club during the position round this week include: Bill Krejci (223, 233), Bob Brunker (200), Dennis Blake (209), Ian Goetz (225, 211), Jake Parrott (207), Jonathan Vigliaturo (200), Ken M. Week #7 is now in the books and every team has faced off against one another. We've seen big games, win streaks, and come-from-behind victories as well as subpar scores, surprising losing streaks, and games lost with the final throw of the 10th frame. All in all, we've had your typical first half of a season leading up to next week's position round. Ready to see how the stage has been set? Read on...In the first matchup of the evening, out of sorts Split It & Hit It took on the recently revitalized UpgrayeDD. After a narrow Game #1 victory by Split It – led this week by shoe-destroying Dennis Blake and his 424 series – the UpgrayeDD collective fired on all cylinders to reverse this trend and stormed back to take series 3-1. Led by Josh Robison and his 405 series, Up take their wins but remain in 7th. Split It, now at 7-21 for the season, remain in 8th place. The two teams will face one another in next week's position round. On Lanes 43 & 44, reigning champs Bowltron looked to garner four easy wins against the Twerking Balls but things didn't quite work out as they planned. After easily taking Game #1 behind anchor Ryan Doll's 581 series, 'tron stalled out over the next two games – including dropping Game #3 by a mere six pins. Total pins ended up going to Bowltron to split the series at 2-2. Lead off bowler Jake Parrott led the Twerkers with his 446 series. Despite the wins, neither team moved in the league standings with Bowltron remain in 4th and Twerking Balls staying in 6th place. When the season began, Pinterest looked to win a title. If the second half of their season is anything like their first, it's a foregone conclusion. Simply put, these guys are on fire. This week's victims were Schwetty Balls, which they pushed aside to take a 3-1 matchup victory and incurred only their fourth loss of the entire season. Led this week by Ian Goetz and his 572 series, Pinterest has put up one of the ten best first half series of all time no matter what happens next week. Schwetty's Angela Bradford and her team-leading 535 series caused the lone loss for Pinterest of the night. Pinterest remains in 1st while Schwetty drops one spot into 3rd place. As he typically does, Phil Schroeder of The Finger Holes tends to bring his A-game as the season progresses. The proof resides in the fact that he was this week's Most Valuable Bowler as well as the #1 Power Ranked bowler in a 4-game rout of hapless Mark It Zero. Anchor Aubrey Moren led the F-Holes with a 605 series (Phil ended with a 590). Kody Karnes' 614 series led the entire league but his team continues to lose, extending their losing streak to 12 and debuting at 25th on a list that they'd rather not be on. Mark It Zero remains in 5th while The Finger Holes manage to be the only team to climb in the league standings at all, clawing their way up to 2nd place. The Tournament of Champions results are in and here's how the divisions currently sit:Division 1 = Ian Goetz (13), Seth Gunderson (9)Division 2 = Phil Schroeder (12), Scott Murdock (9)Division 3 = Rob Kaszuba (8), Josh Robison (7)Division 4 = Michael Gordon (12), Michael Smith (9)Bowlers knowing it'll be a while before Ken and his new ball show up in The 200 Club include: Angela Bradford (226), Aubrey Moren (223), Ian Goetz (211), Jonathan Vigliaturo (206), Kody Karnes (242), Phil Schroeder (216, 206), Rob Kaszuba (204), Ryan Doll (211), and Seth Gunderson (211, 204). Blue Skies for Gray

Posted by Ken On March - 4 - 2014ADD COMMENTS

Week #6 is now in the books and with it came quite the shuffling in the league standings. All but one team found themselves in a new position while the lone foursome that didn't budge extended its lead out ahead of everyone else after an impressive 21-3 start and will easily find themselves on this Top 25 list after the position round. Ready to hear how the matchups played out? Okay, then...Talk about firing on (almost) all cylinders! The members of Schwetty Balls took on league laughingstocks Mark It Zero Tuesday night in the first matchup. Led by – ready for this? – Scott "Scooter J" Murdock and his 587 series, Schwetty was eager to help Mark It Zero extend their losing streak to a solid eight games and handed them their second sweep in as many weeks. Sabrina Gray hoisted her all time highest series (a 443) in the process. Zero's Kody Karnes continues to lead the league with his impressive output – this week putting up a 672 series – but can find no help from his teammates. Schwetty Balls improves one spot into 2nd while Mark It Zero slips back down into 5th place. Are they the loudest team? Definitely. Are they they the funniest team? Without doubt. Are they the team that no one wants to have to face this season? Holy shit, yes. Pinterest continues its dominance over the Spring '14 session with yet another impressive matchup victory, this time against opponents The Finger Holes. With Ian Goetz running point this week with a team leading 560 series, the guys bounced back after a Game #1 loss to run the board the rest of the night en route to a 3-1 win and remain in first place. The F-Holes, led by Aubrey Moren and his 551 series, tumble one spot down into 3rd place.Down on Lanes 45 & 46, the league was treated to the highest number of high games and series in a single matchup we've seen in a while as reigning champs Bowltron did battle with last season's Cinderella story Split It & Hit It. With his first Most Valuable Bowler performance of the season, anchor Ryan Doll woke up to lead his team to a 3-1 matchup victory with his 640 series. Welcome back, Doll! The team almost managed a clean sweep over Split It had it not been for an incredible performance out of sub Todd Way, whose career high 594 series (including his personal best 210 game), earned him #1 Power Ranked bowler honors this week and a narrow win in Game #3 to keep from getting blanked. Bowltron hops up one spot into 4th while Split It & Hit It hits it down into 8th place. After a mishap involving the automated scoring machines, the matchup between Twerking Balls and UpgrayeDD had to take their party downtown to a pair of working lanes. This migration proved to be just what the Twerkers were looking for as they turned their season around with a sweep of their competition. Lead by Teresa Deterding's season best 484 series, the Twerks moves two spots up in the standings – the biggest jump this week – into 6th place. UpgrayeDD, once again led by Rookie of the Season candidate Josh Robison, couldn't capitalize off his team high 410 series and fall one spot into 7th place. The Tournament of Champions is just really getting started and finds the following bowlers leading their respective divisions after three weeks of play:Division 1 – Seth Gunderson (9), Ian Goetz (7)Division 2 – Phil Schroeder (6), Jonathan Vigliaturo (6), Scott Murdock (6), Andy McLeod (5),Division 3 – Josh Robison (7), Teresa Deterding (6)Division 4 – Michael Gordon (12), Steve Kohlmeyer (9)Bowlers melting away more slowly than the snow outside this week in The 200 Club include: Andy McLeod (210), Aubrey Moren (211), Bill Krejci (228), Bob Brunker (200), Bryan Mohr (220, 205), Dennis Blake (215, 229), Ian Goetz (216), Ken M. Wilson (211, 203), Kody Karnes (211, 256), Ryan Doll (220, 204, 216), Scott Murdock (219), Seth Gunderson (212), and Todd Way (210, 203).There are only two more weeks left to nominate someone for this season's Hall of Fame ballot. Get in there already, dammit!See you next Tuesday!

They’re Going In Dry

Posted by Ken On February - 25 - 20141 COMMENT

Going into Week #5, the two teams on top of the league standings were somewhat untested against heavy hitters. No one can claim that now as they found themselves going up against the teams just below them. While one of those teams faltered in their showdown, another one absolutely demolished their competition and extended their lead over everyone in the Spring 2014 season. Big scores, big series, and big wins make up the bulk of this week's recap. The first matchup of the evening featured the debut of a substitute that definitely made his mark right off the bat. Josh Kell, who stepped in for birthday boy Rob Kaszuba, put up a team leading 563 series for Bowltron to debut in the 9th spot on the Top 25 Best Substitute Bowlers of all time list. Despite Kell's heroics, the men of UpgrayeDD – led by Rookie of the Season front-runner Josh Robison and his 488 series – battled the reigning champions to a standstill to split the night 2-2. The outcome doesn't help nor hurt the teams in the standings with both staying put, Bowltron in 5th and UpgrayeDD in 6th place. With the original lineup of Split It & Hit It all together for the first time all season you'd think that this would be the week that they start their monster run like last season, right? Wrong, according to Twerking Balls. Nearly blanking last season's Cinderella story, Twerking came away with their first matchup victory all season with a 3-1 win over Split It. Led by this week's Most Valuable Bowler performer Jake Parrott and his 507 series, the T-Balls took Games #1 and #2 before narrowly dropping the third contest but took total pins and remain in 8th. Split It, led by anchor Dennis Blake and his 504 series, remain in 7th place. On lanes 45 & 46, Pinterest came out firing on all cylinders against opponents Mark It Zero and never once looked back. With anchor Seth Gunderson throwing his career high series of 668 to lead his team – along with help from this week's #1 Power Ranked bowler Jonathan Vigliaturo – Pinterest absolutely destroyed Mark It Zero in a clean sweep. Game #2 was their best output, with the men combining for a 837, the 25th highest 4-man team game ever shot in league history. Zero's Kody Karnes led the league with a 671 series but he had no help against the onslaught of Pinterest. With the wins Pinterest sits at 18-2 on the season, a full four games ahead of the rest of the league. Mark It Zero slips over the line to 4th place. The final matchup of the evening pitted long-time rivals Schwetty Balls against The Finger Holes in a battle between 2nd and 4th place. After a strong start by The F-Holes, barely led this week by anchor Aubrey Moren with a 516 series, the games became individual battles of attrition as both teams struggled – and ultimately failed – to shoot their team averages. In the end, it was The F-Holes who held on each game to take the night 4-0 against Schwetty. Bob Brunker put up the highest series in the losing effort, booking a 430 series before quickly leaving the bowling alley in stunned silence. The Finger Holes were the only team to climb the standings this week, hopping two spots up into 2nd place. Schwetty Balls melt down one spot into 3rd place. The Tournament of Champions results are in and here are your current division leaders:Division 1 = Seth Gunderson (9), Ian Goetz (7)Division 2 = Phil Schroeder/Jonathan Vigliaturo (6), Anita Osthoff (4)Division 3 = Josh Robison (7), Bryan Mohr/Matt Bunyard (3)Division 4 = Steve Kohlmeyer (9), Michael Gordon (6)Bowlers wanting to order whatever Seth is having this week at The 200 Club include: Freda Schroeder (213), Ian Goetz (221, 214), Jonathan Vigliaturo (221), Josh Kell (212), Kody Karnes (246, 214, 211), and Seth Gunderson (256, 219).See you next Tuesday!

Powerful Pinterest

Posted by Ken On February - 18 - 2014ADD COMMENTS

With four weeks now under the league's belt, two teams have jumped off to very impressive starts having amassed win records of 14-2. Right behind them are two other teams sitting at 10-6. The fun truly begins now, though, as all four of these teams are scheduled to face off against one another next week. But, for now, let's see how Week #4 played out and how these teams got to where they are in the standings. After dropping two games last week by single digits, Mark It Zero struck back to log the lone sweep of the evening against opponents Twerking Balls. With a roller coaster performance from anchor Ken M. Wilson and his 611 leading the team, Zero narrowly survived Game #1 before riding fairly smoothly to wins the rest of the way out. Lead off roller Jake Parrott put up the highest numbers for the Twerkers, ending his night with a 382. Mark It Zero improves to 10-6 and takes over 3rd place due to total pins while Twerking Balls extends their losing streak to 13 games and remains in 8th place.Let's face it...Hall of Famer Bob Brunker is in the midst of his best season ever and Schwetty Balls is benefitting greatly from it. After extending their win streak to 12 games with a victory in Game #1, their bid to go any further was roundly rejected in Game #2 by a perfectly timed UpgrayeDD team output. Despite a 403 series from lead off roller Bryan Bay, Up couldn't maintain their momentum and narrowly dropped Game #3. Total pins, and the matchup, went to Schwetty Balls who now sit in 2nd with a record of 14-2. UpgrayeDD slip one spot down into 6th place at 5-11.The men of Bowltron are a study in teamwork and how to get things done. Facing off against rivals The Finger Holes, 'tron got off to an early set back as F-Hole Phil Schroeder put up a team best 531 series to win the initial contest by 20 pins. From that point onward, however, the reigning champs took over with a 571 series from anchor Ryan Doll alongside this week's Most Valuable Bowler performance from lead off Bryan Mohr to win the series 3-1 as they fought tooth and nail to achieve a winning record. At 6-10 on the season, Bowltron hops one spot up to 5th while The Fingers Holes – now with a record of 10-6 – drop into 4th due to total pins. Another Hall of Famer in the midst of their career best season is none other than Pinterest's own Seth Gunderson. Earning #1 Power Ranked bowler accolades with his 590 series, Seth reversed his team's fortunes after a big Game #1 loss to opponents Split It & Hit It to come out the big winners in the end at 3-1 to keep his team sitting atop the league standings via total pins with their 14-2 record. Substitute bowler Todd Way put up his career high game (194) inside his 480 series to lead Split It in the losing effort and remains in 6th place with a record of 4-12. The initial week of the Tournament of Champions is off and running with our first batch of results:Division 1: Seth Gunderson (6), Bob Brunker (3)Division 2: Phil Schroeder (6), Anita Osthoff (3)Division 3: Josh Robison (6), Matt Bunyard (3)Division 4: Michael Gordon (6), Steve Kohlmeyer (3)Bowlers buying a round to celebrate The Finger Holes finishing before other teams tonight inside The 200 Club include: Bob Brunker (211), Ken M. UpgrayeDD Upgrade

Posted by Ken On February - 11 - 2014ADD COMMENTS

After a delay last week due to a massive snowstorm hitting the area, GutterAlley action resumed Tuesday night. Collectively our league is getting hotter as 21 of our thirty-two bowlers raised his or her average on Tuesday night during Week #3. To top it off, six teams swapped places in the league standings as things begin to settle down in the Spring 2014 season. The first matchup of the evening pitted The Finger Holes against Split It & Hit It. With their anchor absent, Split It's Matt Bunyard assumed the high rolling duties and led his team to a Game #1 victory with his 467 series. That's when the F-Holes' Aubrey Moren stepped up in a big way. Leading his team (and the league) with a 651 series, Moren stormed back to secure Games #2 and #3 as well as landing Most Valuable Bowler honors in the process. Total pins, however, went to Split It & Hit It by the slimmest of margins – five pins. With two wins apiece, The Finger Holes slip one spot into 3rd while Split It and Hit It toppled to 7th place.Things just aren't going too well for reigning champs Bowltron these days. After dropping Game #1 by a mere three pins, the downward spiral continued as Pinterest's Ian Goetz put up a 603 series to lead his team to a clean sweep of 'tron. Bill Krejci put up the biggest numbers in the losing effort, ending his night with a 585 series. The victories keep Pinterest atop the league standings via total pins as they enjoy their 9-game win streak. Bowltron, adding no wins to their tally, drops one spot down into 6th place.Down on lanes 45 & 46, UpgrayeDD laced up to do battle with Mark It Zero. Despite output of 637 and 626 from Zero's Ken M. Wilson and Kody Karnes, respectively, the night belonged almost entirely to the men of UpgrayeDD. After a Game #1 loss, GutterAlley's early favorite for Rookie of the Season honors – Josh Robison – delivered the goods in a huge way with his well over average 502 series to stun Mark It Zero en route to a 3-1 matchup victory. The wins give UpgrayeDD the biggest jump in the standings as they advance three spots up into 5th place. Mark It Zero remains in 4th place. On the final pair of lanes, Hall of Famer and resident nice guy Bob Brunker of Schwetty Balls proved to be a thorn in the side of opponents Twerking Balls. Hoisting his career high series – a 647 – Brunker led his team to a clean sweep and extended their win streak to 11 games and putting them on the radar to officially make it onto the Top 25 Longest Win Streaks list next week. Brunker also took home #1 Power Ranked bowler honors with his performance. The wins raise Schwetty up one spot into 2nd while Twerking Balls, led this week by rookie Michael Gordon's 440 series, slip one spot down into 8th place. With the conclusion of the third week, the Tournament of Champions divisions are now officially set with all 32 bowlers spread out across the four 8-person divisions. The tournament will get underway with the scores from Week #4. Good luck to everyone!Bowlers lamenting the cold outside inside The 200 Club this week include: Aubrey Moren (234, 234), Bill Krejci (218), Bob Brunker (234, 223), Ian Goetz (213, 209), Ken M. Wilson (256), Kody Karnes (259), Rob Kaszuba (215), and Ryan Doll (201).Nominations for this season's Hall of Fame ballot are now open. A total of 59 people are eligible for induction but it's entirely up to you to get your favorite(s) in front of the Screening Committee so nominate someone today. As always, thank you for your time.See you next Tuesday!

Holey Bowley!

Posted by Ken On January - 28 - 2014ADD COMMENTS

The ever-volatile Week #2 of Gutteralley's latest season proved to be an interesting one as every single bowler – minus those absent or setting an average – either raised of lowered their average. One bowler managed to raise his +25 while another dropped -24 in what has always been the biggest roller coaster week of each and every season. To top it off, six of the eight teams swapped spots in the league standings to cap off the evening. Here's the lowdown...The first matchup of the night pitted Pinterest against the Twerking Balls. Having apparently figured out his new bowling ball, Pinterest's Ian Goetz led the way to a clean sweep of the competition with a 592 series after a rather slow start last week. The Twerkers, who received the most fire power from lead off roller Jake Parrott and his 422 series, fall to a record of 1-7 and remain in 7th place. Pinterest, adding four notches to their win column, take over the top spot in the standings by the total pins tiebreaker (up 84 pins).Down a pair, The Finger Holes found themselves on the giving end of a rout over opponents UpgrayeDD. With professional sandbagger Phil Schroeder putting up a 536 series – and earning the Most Valuable Bowler as well as #1 Power Ranked bowler honors in the process – the F-Holes easily took a 4-0 matchup win. Rookie Bryan Bay of UpgrayeDD put up a team leading 356 series but it simply wasn't enough to earn a win. UpgrayeDD remains in 8th place while The Finger Holes climb one spot into 2nd place. If your anchor set a super high average the first week and you are facing three Hall of Famers the week immediately after that, don't plan on coming away with many victories. Just ask the men of Split It & Hit It who found themselves rubbing up against the Schwetty Balls. With anchor Bob Brunker hoisting a 542 series, Schwetty's offense proved to be just too much for Split It to contend with on Lanes 45 & 46 as the Balls took 'em 4-0. Dennis Blake's 478 series led the Splits in the losing effort. The wins improve Schwetty Balls' record to 7-1 and pop up one spot to 3rd while Split It and Hit It slips one spot into 6th place with the opposite record. The last matchup of the night saw the biggest games (and biggest meltdowns) of the night in a battle that ended in a 2-2 split. Last year's champs Bowltron welcomed Bill Krejci to the team this season to replace John Boren. Fortunately for Bowltron, Bill got down to business and lit up the lanes for a 611 to storm back after a Game #1 loss to opponents Mark It Zero. Powerhouse Kody Karnes put up an impressive 685 series to lead the entire league and helped Zero secure their two wins. With two games apiece added to the teams' wins, Mark It Zero falls three spots to 4th while Bowltron improves one to find themselves in 5th place. The Tournament of Champions has not yet begun this season. As most of you know, whatever your average is at the end of the initial three weeks of the season determines your seed. Bowlers trying to warm themselves in The 200 Club this week include: Aubrey Moren (221), Bill Krejci (222), Bob Brunker (222), Ian Goetz (213), Kody Karnes (256, 214, 215), and Phil Schroeder (211). Nominations for this season's Hall of Fame ballot are now open. Fifty-nine different bowlers from our league's past and present are eligible and ready for you to say why they are deserving to be this season's inductee. So get in there and nominate as many as you'd like.See you next Tuesday!

Fall 2013: And the winner is…

Posted by Ken On December - 11 - 2013ADD COMMENTS

The Fall 2013 season came to an official conclusion on Tuesday night, complete with prize disbursement and the announcement of the various season-ending awards.Truth be told, this was an odd season as compared to our last one. There weren't any really incredible games this time around. Hardly any big series were thrown. No one went on a lengthy win streak tear nor did anyone shatter any long-standing records (well, no positive ones anyway). The following are bowlers that shot their all-time bests:Highest game?Bryan Mohr, Chadwick Andrews, Dennis Blake, Eric Lynch, Kody Karnes, and Matt BunyardHighest series?Bryan Mohr, Chadwick Andrews, Matt BunyardHighest season-ending average?Seth Gunderson, Greg Middleton, Jonathan Vigliaturo, Sarah Lynch, Anita Osthoff, Dennis Blake, Matt Bunyard, Bryan MohrWe looked and looked for any great new additions to the Top 25 lists but could only find one golden nugget across all of them – with their season-ending averages, Hall of Famer Seth Gunderson has moved up to be the 22nd best bowler of all time while Dennis Blake debuts on the list in the 24th spot. The biggest individual achievements for the season came out as follows:Angela Bradford Women's High Series Scratch = Angela Bradford (572)Freda Schroeder Women's High Game Scratch = Anita Osthoff (210)Women's High Series Handicap = Freda Schroeder (687)Women's High Game Handicap = Sarah Lynch (206)Women's Pins Over Average = Freda Schroeder (+50)Women's Most Improved Bowler = Freda Schroeder (+13)Don Glasscock Men's High Series Scratch = Ryan Doll (697)David Codding Men's High Game Scratch = Kody Karnes (267)Men's High Series Handicap = Chadwick Andrews (719)Men's High Game Handicap = Dennis Blake (273)Men's Pins Over Average = Ryan Doll (+98)Men's Most Improved Bowler = Chadwick Andrews / Bryan Mohr (+24)The results of the Season Favorites were announced at the Tuesday night meeting:Rookie of the Season - Chadwick Andrews (Adam LaRocca, runner-up)Seth Gunderson Captain of the Season - Ryan Doll (Seth Gunderson, runner-up)Carl Goetz Defensive Bowler of the Season - Dennis Blake (John Boren, runner-up)Underdog of the Season - Chadwick Andrews (Matt Bunyard, runner-up)Bob Brunker Good Sportsmanship Award - Rob Kaszuba (Kody Karnes, runner-up)Emily Podhajsky Good Sportsmanship Award - Anita Osthoff (Sarah Lynch, runner-up)Pat Searcy Life of the Party - Jonathan Vigliaturo/Cliff Barendsen (Seth Gunderson, runner-up)Most Fun Team to Face - Split It & Hit It (Bewbie Dance, runner-up)Most Feared Team to Face - Breaking Bad (Bewbie Dance, runner-up)People's Choice: Most Valuable Bowler - Bryan Mohr (John Boren, runner-up)Actual individual team MVBs:Ballz Out = Chadwick AndrewsBewbie Dance = Angela Bradford / Jonathan VigliaturoBreaking Bad = Kody KarnesBowltron = Bryan MohrEven Brunker Than Defore = Eric LynchGutterfingers = Scott MurdockSplit It & Hit It = Dennis BlakeWill Strike if Provoked = Freda Schroeder / Aubrey MorenActual: Most Valuable Bowler - Dennis Blake (Eric Lynch)Cumulative #1 Power Ranked Bowler: Kody Karnes (Dennis Blake)The Tournament of Champions was won by Chadwick Andrews when he beat runner-up Ryan Doll scratch...with a house ball. As this season's champ, Chadwick received an additional $42 in his prize envelope. Doll received $22 for second place. Prize money was handed out for the teams based upon wins:1. Bowltron (44-20)2. Bewbie Dance (39-25)3. Split It and Hit It (38-26)4. Will Strike if Provoked (35-29)5. Ballz Out (30.5-33.5)6. Breaking Bad (29-35)7. Gutterfingers (26.5-37.5)8. Even Brunker Than Defore (14-50)Dave Winger announced his retirement from the league so a special award was created for a league staple that has been a part of GutterAlley for 12 seasons (8 as a regular member, 4 as a sub). Going forward, one bowler from the league's past will be chosen by the Hall of Famers to be the recipient of the Dave Winger "Gone But Not Forgotten" Award. Naturally, Winger was the first recipient of the award bearing his name. And lastly, Pat Searcy was officially inducted into the GutterAlley Hall of Fame after being selected over Bill Krejci, Cory Chorpenning, Demond Robinson, Jason Carpio, and Ryan Doll by the voters of the bowling community.Congratulations to all of the winners this season at New Zealand casino10

It’s All Over

Posted by Ken On December - 4 - 2013ADD COMMENTS

With the members of Bowltron having wrapped up the championship last week, the Fall 2013 Finals were nothing more than a formality with the remaining teams jockeying for a better spot in the standings just for the hell of it. In the end, not a single team managed to move at all as Week #16 action came to a close. And while it may sound like nothing actually went down, you'd be wrong...In what had been shaping up to be one of the best Finals showdowns we've seen in quite a while as Bewbie Dance had used its second half to make the most serious run at catching eventual champions – and recipients of the newly christened Ken M. Wilson Championship Trophy – Bowltron, ended up being nothing more than the two teams meeting up to fight for pride instead. Game #1 went Bowltron's way while Game #2 landed in Bewbie's lap. Game #3 came down to a battle of the anchors with the Bewb's Carl Goetz showing why the Defensive Bowler of the Season is named after him after securing a ten pin victory in the clutch and ending with a team leading 620 series. Total pins went to the short-handed Bowltron, this week surprisingly led by anchor Ryan Doll and his 607 series. Bowltron ended their season with several accolades including becoming the second best team of all time, came in at 13th on the best records of all time and, for you purists, also had the most charity wins this season which most of us already knew. Bewbie Dance finishes their second in second place.Down on lanes 43 & 44, the big surprise of the season finished their best season ever as the men of Split It and Hit It – who put together their best all around effort since joining the league last Fall – took it to last year's champs Will Strike if Provoked to come away with a 3-1 matchup victory. Led by this season's most obvious candidate for People's Choice - Most Valuable Bowler Dennis Blake and his 559 series, Split It bounced back after dropping Game #1 to Will Strike to take the rest of the evening and refused to relinquish their 3rd place spot in the standings. Aubrey Moren matched Blake's 559 series but could only secure the one victory for Will Strike if Provoked, who ends their season in 4th place. When you go in to cast your ballot for the Rookie of the Season, you are absolutely kidding yourself if you do not give your first place votes to Chadwick Andrews. For the second week in a row – something NEVER done in the 28 seasons of GutterAlley action – Chadwick came away with not only Most Valuable Bowler honors but was the #1 Power Ranked bowler again. To top it off, he also won the Tournament of Champions besting 2nd place finisher Doll SCRATCH. Simply put, Tuesday belonged almost entirely to Andrews. Putting up both his career high game (213) as well as series (556), Chadwick led Ballz Out in a 2-2 split with this session's laughing stocks, Breaking Bad. With Kody Karnes and his 638 series leading the way, Bad ended its pathetic season going out with a whimper and holding onto 6th place. Ballz Out finished in 5th place. On the last pair of lanes, the bowlers of Gutterfingers decided to do what most everyone else did all season long and bully the 8th place Even Brunker Than Defore team. Led barely by Hall of Famer Scott "Scooter J" Murdock and his 468 series, the Fingers ended their run with a 3-1 matchup victory and finishing in 7th place. Eric Lynch of Defore also put up a 468 series but could only find one win on the night, taking Game #2 to avoid being swept. Even Brunker Than Defore remained in 8th place. As stated earlier, this season's Tournament of Champions winner was Chadwick Andrews whose big night came just at the right time to take the tournament. Ryan Doll finished in second.Bowlers ending their season with a trip to The 200 Club include: Aubrey Moren (216), Carl Goetz (229, 200), Chadwick Andrews (213), Dennis Blake (223), John Boren (227), Ken M. Wilson (203, 234), Kody Karnes (267), and Ryan Doll (213, 200).Next week is our league's traditional Fun Night, an evening of 9-pin tap bowling (knock down nine pins and it counts as a strike) that starts off with our awards ceremony and prize money disbursement. Winners of the individual achievements that net additional money in their prize envelopes this season include:Women:Angela Bradford Women's High Series Scratch = Angela Bradford (572)Freda Schroeder Women's High Game Scratch = Anita Osthoff (210)Women's High Series Handicap = Freda Schroeder (687)Women's High Game Handicap = Sarah Lynch (206)Men:Don Glasscock Men's High Series Scratch = Ryan Doll (697)David Codding Men's High Game Scratch = Kody Karnes (267)Men's High Series Handicap = Chadwick Andrews (719)Men's High Game Handicap = Dennis Blake (273)Voting for the Season's Favorites is now open and will close at noon next Tuesday (the 10th) so get in there and cast your ballot! Back in the Spring 2003 session of GutterAlley, we decided to create a way to allow the league collectively to bestow upon the individuals competing that season a nod in various areas ranging from the best captain to the favorite underdog. In that batch also came our first award named in honor of someone – the Bob Brunker Good Sportsmanship Award. With the start of the Hall of Fame and the retirement of various bowlers, additional awards were renamed in honor of these deserving individuals. To date, we have the following awards bearing the names of bowlers from our collective past and present:Carl Goetz Defensive Bowler of the Season - Renamed in the Fall 2011 season upon his Hall of Fame induction due to his legendary 10th frame performances in high pressure situations. No one has won it more often than Carl.Emily Podhajsky Good Sportsmanship Award - Upon beloved bowler Emily's retirement from the league, we separated the Good Sportsmanship Award into both a male and female category. Naturally she was the first recipient.Bob Brunker Good Sportsmanship Award - The award that started the naming tradition back in '03, bestowed upon eternal good sport – and Spring 2012 Hall of Fame inductee – Bob Brunker.Pat Searcy "Life of the Party" Award - Created last season in honor of one the league's biggest personalities, the legendary Pat Searcy, the award is given to the person who brings the most fun to the lanes that season.Scott Murdock "Get 'er Done" Award - Another award started last season, named after the league's most tireless worker since nearly the beginning – inaugural class Hall of Famer Scott "Scooter J" Murdock. The award is given out picked by Scoot himself, based upon his own personal observations of who, in his opinion, has provided the most help to the league in his or her own way. Given out at the end of each Spring season, covering both the Fall and Spring sessions.Continuing with renaming awards in honor of the league luminaries, we wanted to announced additional updates to the end of the season awards, both Season Favorites as well as individual achievements.Seth Gunderson Captain of the Season - Named after the only person to win the award three consecutive times, Spring 2013's Hall of Fame inductee Seth Gunderson.Ken M. Wilson Championship Trophy - Named after the inaugural class Hall of Famer that has won 12 championship titles so far, more than any other bowler. Angela Bradford Women's High Series Scratch - Currently owning the top spot on every single women's high game and high series record, it's only fitting to name the biggest of them all after inaugural class Hall of Famer Angela Bradford – the only female in league history to break the 600+ series mark. Don Glasscock Men's High Series Scratch - Easily the best bowler the league has ever seen, this seasonal achievement will be commemorated going forward bearing his name due to his all-time league best 770 series. Freda Schroeder Women's High Game Scratch - Trailing only to her daughter's 257, none of the other women in our league's history has outdone inaugural class Hall of Fame Freda Schroeder and her 234 game. David Codding Men's High Game Scratch - The Fall 2012 Hall of Fame inductee was the first, and so far only, man to shoot the most coveted game in all of bowling. 'nuff said. This ties up a number of loose ends that have been kicked around for a while now, with every member of the Hall of Fame now having an award named in his or her honor. Voting for the season favorites begins immediately after the Finals.

After having taken hold of the top spot in the league standings in Week #6 and not relinquishing it at all, Bowltron wrapped up their run Tuesday night by racking up enough wins to be untouchable in the Finals next week. Congratulations to four time champion John Boren and first time winners Bryan Mohr and Rob Kaszuba! Oh, and Ryan Doll was carried along for the ride as well. The Finals this week will merely be for a formality as the rest of the league just divides what's left over. Ready to hear how it all played out in Week #15? Read on...They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder so it's pretty apparent that there will be no yearning in the Finals between Split It and Hit It and Will Strike if Provoked as they will face off once again like they did this week. Entering the night in 3rd place and 4th place respectively, the teams battled one another to a standstill with Split It's Dennis Blake hoisting a 527 to Will Strike's Aubrey Moren 621. The wins keep them right where they were, with a single win separating them.On Lanes 43 & 44, Bewbie Dance needed to add big wins in order to keep their championship hopes alive but ran face first into Ballz Out and this season's #1 Rookie of the Season contender Chadwick Andrews. Putting up a team high 495 series – and netting both #1 Power Ranked bowler as well as Most Valuable Bowler honors in the process – Andrews led his team to a surprising 3-1 matchup victory and effectively ending the Bewbs big second half of the season. The wins allow Ballz Out to hop up to 5th while Bewbie Dance remains in 2nd place. Carl Goetz led the Bewbs with a 536 series in the losing effort. With Even Brunker Than Defore running late, Gutterfingers opted to let 'em catch up once they arrived and the matchup was on. This proved to be a boon for Even Drunker as they earned a 3-1 matchup victory, nearly sweeping their opponents, with only a loss in Game #2 by a mere nine pins. Eric Lynch led Defore with his 490 series while Anita Osthoff's 473 series was the best from the Gutterfingers. Despite the wins, Even Brunker remains in 8th while, despite the losses, Gutterfingers remains in 7th place. The two teams will face one another again next week in the Finals. The last time Breaking Bad faced Bowltron, they battled one another to a standstill. The same could be said after the first two games of their matchup down on the last pair of lanes, with Bowltron taking Game #1 by 21 pins and Breaking Bad taking Game #2 by 21 pins to make Game #3 a winner-takes-three battle. Naturally, as they have done all season, Breaking Bad shit the bed and Bowltron was not only rewarded with the 3-1 matchup victory but sealing the title for the Fall 2013 season. Ryan Doll's 565 series led Bowltron for the night while Bad's Ken M. Wilson and his 594 was the best they could offer. Bowltron ends their run in 1st place while Breaking Bad takes their commanding 27-33 record into 6th place. The Tournament of Champions seeds are officially set now that the regular season has concluded. Despite Freda Schroeder thinking that she was battling everyone in all the divisions tonight (no one quite understands that one, seeing as how the ToC has been around for a couple of years now and we thought everyone understood how it works), here's how it all sits:Division 1 = Ryan Doll (35) is the #1 seed, Ken M. Wilson (23) is the #2 seedDivision 2 = Angela Bradford (29) is the #3 seed, Jonathan Vigliaturo (18) is the #4 seedDivision 3 = Freda Schroeder (33) is the #5 seed, Bryan Mohr (21) is the #6 seed (narrowly defeating Matt Bunyard due to the seasonal Power Ranking tie-breaker)Division 4 = Chadwick Andrews (29) is the #7 seed, Steve Kohlmeyer (23) is the #8 seedGood luck to these eight rollers! For those of you interested, you can check out the bracket for next week. This week's rollers spied at The 200 Club include: Aubrey Moren (215, 217), Carl Goetz (200), Dennis Blake (224), John Boren (212), and Ken M. Wilson (247).Voting for this season's Hall of Fame ballot is now officially closed. Thank you to all who voted. See you next Tuesday!

Almost to the Finish Line

Posted by Ken On November - 19 - 2013ADD COMMENTS

The final few weeks of each season are always an exercise of "what will happen if" scenarios. While some seasons have already been settled and decided, the Fall 2013 session is not one of them. Mathematically, the top four teams are still in the running albeit with two of those teams sitting in there with very long odds. Next week's matchups will truly set the stage for how the Finals will go down but, for now, Week #14's action brings us just the right amount of intrigue to keep it interesting. Here's what went down...Not having won a series against any opponent since the position round, the men of Breaking Bad finally managed to leave the bowling alley on the positive side of a battle after taking a 3-1 victory over Gutterfingers. With Kody Karnes leading the entire league with his 651 series, Bad bounced back after a narrow Game #1 loss to secure three victories and moved up one place into 5th place. Gutterfingers' Anita Osthoff led her team with a 538 series and remains in 7th place.Needing to stave off the surging of the teams just below them in the league standings, the men of Bowltron fired on all cylinders to emphatically bounce back after a lax second half of the season against opponents Even Brunker Than Defore. With anchor Ryan Doll finally earning his keep with a team-leading 621 series as well as Bryan Mohr's stint as this week's #1 Power Ranked bowler , 'tron earned one of two sweeps Tuesday night. Eric Lynch's 405 series led the way for Defore but it simply was not enough to derail the revitalized Bowltron. Both teams remain in their respective spots with Bowlton in 1st and Brunker Than Defore in 8th place. With time running out, every win that Bewbie Dance can secure keeps them in the hunt for the title this season. Facing reigning champs Will Strike if Provoked, Bewbie came out to take Game #1 by two pins and then Game #2 in a big way behind anchor Carl Goetz and his 641 series. When things looked rosy for the Bewbs, Provoked emphatically struck back. With Aubrey Moren's personal season high series of 643 just in time, Will Strike turned the tables to even the matchup at 2-2 to keep their hopes at repeating alive...barely. The wins keep Bewbie Dance in 2nd place, although they now trail Bowltron by three, but find Will Strike if Provoked slipping one spot into 4th place. If there is a team that has turned it around this season, it's definitely Split It and Hit It. After having knocked around the league for the past few sessions, the men have found a way to win a lot this season and did so again when they needed to the most against opponents Ballz Out. With anchor Dennis Blake's 562 series coupled with this week's Most Valuable Bowler performance from teammate Matt Bunyard, the Split It gang notched a 4-0 matchup victory to improve to 3rd place with their impressive 33-23 record. Ballz Out, whose jets seem to have cooled here recently, fall one spot down into 6th place. Anchor Cliff Barendsen led the team with his below-average 389 series. The Tournament of Champions rolls on:Division 1 = Ryan Doll (29), Ken M. Wilson (20)/Carl Goetz (20)Division 2 = Angela Bradford (26), Jonathan Vigliaturo (18)Division 3 = Freda Schroeder (30), Bryan Mohr (21)Division 4 = Chadwick Andrews (23), Steve Kohlmeyer (22)This week's rollers spied at The 200 Club include: Anita Osthoff (210), Aubrey Moren (223, 224), Bryan Mohr (202), Carl Goetz (222, 216, 203), Dennis Blake (224), John Boren (202, 225), Jonathan Vigliaturo (204), Ken M. Wilson (215, 202, 229), Kody Karnes (202, 213, 236), and Ryan Doll (201, 219, 201).Voting for this season's Hall of Fame ballot is only open for one more week so, if you haven't voted yet, get in there and cast your vote(s) today! Things are Getting Tighter

Posted by Ken On November - 12 - 2013ADD COMMENTS

Week #13 is in the books and just about everything stayed the same with the standings still remaining super tight. A mere six games separate the top half of the league with two weeks of "regular season" bowling remaining before the Finals. With a few key matchups left to go before the big showdown, it's still mathematically any of these four teams season to win. In the first (and last) matchup of the night, Ballz Out battled opponents Will Strike if Provoked to a tie in Game #1 and then took Game #2 behind this week's #1 Power Ranked bowler performance out of the Ballz' Cliff Barendsen and his 578 series. The momentum stopped there, however, as Will Strike's Dennis "Pops" Laube turned the tide with his team-leading 532 series that secured Game #3 as well as the total pins victory to take a 2.5-1.5 win. Will Strike ended the night as the only team to move up at all in the league standings, improving to 3rd place. Ballz Out remains in 5th place. In the most watched matchup of the night, the two teams that have exploded in the second half of the season – Bewbie Dance and Split It and Hit It – collided head on Tuesday night...and it ended up almost entirely belonging to the Bewbs. With anchor Carl Goetz leading the way with his 616 series, the Bewbies came just one game shy of blanking Split It by winning the first two as well as total pins. Split It's anchor Dennis Blake kept his team alive with his 518 series but slipped one spot down into 4th place with the losses. Bewbie Dance remains in 2nd place, back one single game. All season long, Even Brunker Than Defore has been picked on by their opponents. Not this week. With anchor Eric Lynch putting up a Most Valuable Bowler performance with his 510 series against laughingstocks Breaking Bad, the team finally broke into double digits in the win column after splitting their series at 2-2. Bad's Kody Karnes led his team with a 616 series to keep them in 6th while Even Brunker remains in 8th.Down on lanes 47 & 48, Bowltron desperately tried to hold onto their perch atop the league standings and managed to do so against opponents Gutterfingers. With John Boren leading the entire league with his 632 series, Games #1 and #2 – as well as total pins – ended up going their way but it was Scott "Scooter J" Murdock's 498 series (mainly from his Game #3 score of 202) that secured the come-from-behind 3-pin victory in their final game. Both teams remain in their respective positions on the league standings, Bowltron in 1st and Gutterfingers in 7th place. The Tournament of Champions rolls on:Division 1 = Ryan Doll (23), Ken M. Wilson (19)Division 2 = Angela Bradford (26), Cliff Barendsen (16)Division 3 = Freda Schroeder (30), Bryan Mohr (15)Division 4 = Chadwick Andrews (22), Michael Smith (18)This week's rollers spied at The 200 Club include: Aubrey Moren (221), Bill Krejci (223, 215), Carl Goetz (213, 207), Cliff Barendsen (202), Dennis Blake (205), Dennis Laube (206), John Boren (226, 214), Ken M. Wilson (203, 205), Kody Karnes (224, 201), Scott Murdock (202), and Seth Gunderson (208).Voting is only open a couple more weeks for the Hall of Fame ballot this season and is looking for your vote(s) today! The Help

Posted by Ken On November - 5 - 2013ADD COMMENTS

Now with less than four weeks until the Finals, the season that seemed to be almost wrapped up by a single team a little while back has been drastically rewritten. A mere four and a half games now separate the top half of the league standings setting the stage for an interesting November. Week #12's action was definitely owned by the help this week, as teammates stepped up to collectively aid their team on the pathway to victory. Now let's get into the recap...If there was ever a team to be feared this second half of the season, it's Bewbie Dance. Despite a roller coaster start to their season, this band of cagey veterans has weathered the storm and is currently on its way to overtaking the top spot in the league standings. Against this week's victims Gutterfingers, the Bewbs took a 3-1 matchup victory led by Hall of Famer Angela Bradford and her 551 series. The wins keep the team in 2nd place but now sit just a single game out of first. Anita Osthoff led the Fingers with a 511 series in the losing effort and remain in 7th place. In what could possibly have been the longest recorded matchup in league history, Will Strike if Provoked ended up taking cursed team Breaking Bad 3-1 on lanes 43 & 44. With anchor Aubrey Moren leading the way with his 546 series, Will Strike bounced back after a Game #1 loss to take the remaining games in the contest — including a single pin victory in Game #3. Bad's Kody Karnes led not only the team but the league with his 623 series. Will Strike remains in 4th while Breaking Bad slips a spot into 6th place. Things are not looking good for the men of Bowltron. Three weeks ago, 'tron sat atop the league standings with a solid eight game league over everyone and showed no signs of slowing down. Since then? They have combined for a 2-10 record. Their latest beatdown came at the hands of surging Split It and Hit It, who is enjoying their best season to date. Led by anchor Dennis Blake's 555 series – and aided by this week's Most Valuable Bowler performance out of Matt Bunyard – Split It refused to back down after a Game #1 misfire to end the night with a 3-1 matchup victory. The wins keep Split It in 3rd place but they now sit just four games behind 1st place Bowltron. John Boren led Bowltron with a 585 series. The only team to sweep their opponents – and, subsequently, improve their position in the standings this week – was Ballz Out. Taking aim at opponents Even Brunker Than Defore, the Ballz' anchor Cliff Barendsen and his 560 series put up this week's #1 Power Ranked bowler performance to propel his team up a notch into 5th place. Brunker's Eric Lynch provided the most fire power for his gang with a 460 but it simply wasn't enough to turn the tide, despite two games being very close. Even Brunker Than Defore remains in 8th place. The Tournament of Champions rolls on:Division 1 = Ryan Doll (23), Ken M. Wilson (18)Division 2 = Angela Bradford (26), Dennis Blake/Jonathan Vigliaturo (15)Division 3 = Freda Schroeder (24), Bryan Mohr (15)Division 4 = Chadwick Andrews (22), Michael Smith (18)This week's rollers spied at The 200 Club include: Angela Bradford (203), Aubrey Moren (227), Bill Krejci (203), Dennis Blake (203), John Boren (214, 209), Ken M. Wilson (202), Kody Karnes (232), and Ryan Doll (203).The Hall of Fame ballot is open and ready for your vote(s) today! Get in there and make it happen for someone. On a final note, it's a sad day in GutterAlley history as Anastasia "Stasia" Gregory (pictured above, on the right) will be leaving the employ of the bowling alley as she recently received a promotion at her other job and will be focusing on that. Her Tuesday with us was her last. Good luck, Stasia! You'll definitely be missed.See you next Tuesday!

Chopping Away

Posted by Ken On October - 30 - 2013ADD COMMENTS

What a turn of events! A couple of weeks ago, the season looked to be all but over with one team aiming to clinch it very, very soon. Yet, the rest of the league refused to lay down and let it happen with quite a turn of events. Week #11 was witness to quite a performance across the board as half the league switches places in the league standings. With the Finals a little over a month away, could another team overtake the current league leaders? Only time will tell...Let's face it...the last two weeks have been a wake up call for Bowltron. Learning that they are actually going to have to bowl well in order to get any more wins this season, the team got yet another schooling – this time from unlikely upsetters Ballz Out. Led this week with one of this season's candidates for Rookie of the Season Chadwick Andrews and his 479 series (nearly 100 pins over his average), the Ballz boys took the matchup 3-1. Anchorless Bowltron was led, once again, by John Boren and his 553 series. Despite the second week of losses, Bowltron continues to hold onto 1st place but their comfortable buffer has been severed to a mere three games. Ballz Out climbs up one spot to 6th place.Things are definitely getting better all around for Split It and Hit It this season. With anchor Dennis Blake having settled into a higher average range – and leading his team this week with a 526 series – alongside a Most Valuable Bowler performance from teammate Matt Bunyard, the boys with the coolest bowling shirts in the league logged a clean sweep against Even Brunker Than Defore. The wins push Split It up into 3rd place and now sit only six games out of first place. Defore, led by Eric Lynch and his 399 series, remain in 8th place.Historically, Scott Murdock of Gutterfingers tends to bring his A-game the week of his birthday most noticeably when he single-handedly ended the longest win streak in league history. This season proved no different as Murdock, 45-pounds lighter and this week's #1 Power Ranked bowler, put up a 574 series to lead his team to a 2-2 split against reigning champs Will Strike if Provoked. Provoked's Aubrey Moren and his 587 series mounted the comeback and sealed Games #2 and #3 in the 10th frame to avoid getting swept. Both games were settled by just a few pins. Adding in the victories from the split, both teams slip one spot in the standings with Provoked falling to 4th and Gutterfingers to 7th place.Down on lanes 47 & 48, the rollers on Bewbie Dance have openly set their sights on winning the season. With all four bowlers working as a team – and all raising or maintaining their current averages – the Bewbs danced all over hapless Breaking Bad. Led by a reinvigorated Carl Goetz and his 618 series, Bewbie Dance swept their opponents clean off the lanes and advanced up to 2nd place and sit only three games out of first. With 17 titles between the four bowlers on the team (and three of them in the Hall of Fame), this could set up one hell of a race to the finish as this crew knows how to win it all. Bad's Kody Karnes put up the highest series of the night, ending with a 660, but watched as his team fell down to 5th place. The Tournament of Champions rolls on:Division 1 = Ryan Doll (22), Ken M. Wilson (18)Division 2 = Angela Bradford (23), Dennis Blake (15)Division 3 = Freda Schroeder (23), Bryan Mohr (15)Division 4 = Michael Smith (18), Chadwick Andrews (16)This week's rollers spied at The 200 Club include: Anita Osthoff (205), Aubrey Moren (212, 211), Bill Krejci (233), Carl Goetz (232, 206), Chadwick Andrews (205), Dennis Blake (201), John Boren (214), Jonathan Vigliaturo (201), Ken M. Wilson (211, 203), Kody Karnes (221, 223, 216), Phil Schroeder (206), Scott Murdock (219), and Seth Gunderson (208).The Hall of Fame ballot is open and ready for your vote(s) today! Week 10 is done. Over. Kaput. Now that we’re two weeks into the second half of the season, let’s figure out this one question -- true or false: what is your horniest bowling night ever? But first, hey, Freda, Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In called. It’s Halloween season and they want their rainbow sherbet costume back. They also said congrats on being the only team that won 4 games tonight. To which you can thank oldest horny bowler of the night -- Phil Schroeder -- and his 588 series. Even Brunker Than Defore (which has NOTHING to do with Hall of Famer Bob Brunker), was led by Eric Lynch ’s 553 series.Bill? Bill Krecji ? Are you here? Nope. He wasn’t. And Breaking Bad didn’t really show up either, as they continued their struggles by giving up 3 games to Split It and Hit It. Split It was led by this week’s #1 Power Ranked Horny Bowler, Todd Way, who bowled a 484 series (which was an impressive 39 pins over his average, per game). Ken Wilson ’s 668 series led Breaking Bad and he claims his “booty hole” is still “not feeling all okay.” Whatever. We’d like to take a second to wish a very special happy birthday to our own Dave Winger. Turning 70 is a pretty special event. Special, that is, until Mr. “Horny-All-Day-Every-Day” Chad Andrews ruins it with a super precious 12-lb ball. Chadwick, his 468 series, and Ballz Out left their namesakes all over the lanes, taking home 3 games from the birthday boy's team.Over on lanes 45 and 46, AB was makin’ those bewbies dance for most of the night. Things got kind of weird with her brother there, especially since his close friends call him Carl “Tits” Goetz, but after a few more strikes, nobody seemed to care that much. Behind Seth Gunderson ’s "MVB performance (so hot, so horny), the Bewbie Dancers managed to grope 3 games away from Bowltron. On their opposing lanes, Jon Boren was busy being boring shooting a 636. Unfortunately for Boren, the rest of his team was too preoccupied informing Ryan Doll that Flash does, indeed, suck. No, man. It sucks. Not much ground was gained on Bowltron this week. So if anyone doesn’t want them to win, you best start doing bowling games more better. Here’s the current standings in the tourneys.:Division 1: Ken is at 18, Doll at 16.Division 2: AB has 17, JV has 15.Division 3: Freda with 17, Scoot with 14.Division 4: Michael Smith 17, Cole Meyer 15Bill? Billseph Krecji? Hello? Here’s the people who bowled better than Doll tonight:- AB: 211, 210- Anita: 205- Aubrey: 203- “Tits”: 209- Dennis Blake: 224- Pops: 202- Erock Lynch: 233- Boooooooooren: 207, 201, 228- Ken: 221, 245, 202- Kody: 203, 214- Phil: 203- Seth: 209, 213- Jonathan: 205See you next Tuesday!

The Battle for Second Place?

Posted by Ken On October - 15 - 2013ADD COMMENTS

Now that we're more than half way done with the Fall 2013 season, the curse that seemed to be keeping the league from rolling high scores seems to have been lifted. Couple that with a team well on their way to running away with the title way before the Finals and we may be watching a battle for second place in this second half. Bewbie Dance, led by Carl Goetz's 545 series, took their matchup against Even Brunker Than Defore 3-1 and advanced up to 2nd place. Eric Lynch threw the highest series for Defore – a 431 – but remain in 8th place.Bowltron continues to dominate the league with a 4-0 beatdown of opponents Will Strike if Provoked. Led by Ryan Doll's 697 series, Bowltron now sits a full 8 games ahead of the rest of the league. Doll was also this week's #1 Power Ranked bowler. Will Strike, led by Aubrey Moren's 527 series, slip two spots down into 4th place.Splitting their matchup at 2-2, Ballz Out and Breaking Bad battled one another to a stand still. Ballz Out was led by Cliff Barendsen's 483 series while Ken M. Wilson hoisted a 646 series for Breaking Bad. Ballz Out remains in 7th place while Breaking Bad climbs one spot to 3rd place.Dennis Blake's 598 series and sub Todd Way's Most Valuable Bowler performance powered Split It and Hit It to a 3-1 win over Gutterfingers, led by Anita Osthoff's 520 series. Split It moves up one spot to 5th while Gutterfingers falls down into 6th place. The Tournament of Champions results: Division 1 = Ryan Doll (16), Ken M. Wilson (15)Division 2 = Jonathan Vigliaturo (15), Dennis Blake (11)Division 3 = Freda Schroeder (16), Bryan Mohr (12)Division 4 = Michael Smith (16), Chadwick Andrews (13)This week's The 200 Club: Anita Osthoff (200), Bill Krejci (237), Bryan Mohr (213), Carl Goetz (239), Dennis Blake (250), John Boren (205, 231, 224), Ken M. Hall of Fame Nominees: Fall 2013

Posted by Ken On October - 14 - 20131 COMMENT

Vote for Searcy!!!Kicking off in the Spring 2011 season, our bowling community collectively cast its votes for the inaugural class of enshrinees to the GutterAlley Hall of Fame. These initial four bowlers were tasked with carrying on the Hall's enshrinement duties, promising that one new bowler would make his or her way to join them at the end of every season going forward. We are happy to say that the tradition is about to continue for a sixth time to welcome in the ninth inductee. The GutterAlley Hall of Fame Screening Committee is proud to announce the names of the six candidates up for enshrinement this season – Bill Krejci, Cory Chorpenning, Demond Robinson, Jason Carpio, Pat Searcy, and Ryan Doll. Each of these six bowlers, in his own way, has made an impact on the league over the years. It will now be up to you to cast your votes to send one person to join AB, Scoot, Freda, Ken, Carl, Bob, Codding, and – most recently – Seth in the Hall.Every member of the bowling community that has an active account on GutterAlley.com will be assessed a number of votes based upon his or her tenure within the league. Bowlers who have not yet completed a full season are ineligible to vote for the Hall of Fame candidates. Bowlers who have completed 1-2 full seasons are allowed one vote. Bowlers who have completed 3-4 season are allowed two votes. Bowlers who have completed 5+ seasons are allowed three votes. Hall of Famers are allowed four. Voters are not required to cast all of their available votes.Voting starts today and shall remain open until the week before the Finals (Week 15 - November 26th, 2013).For your convenience, we have prepared a page about each nominee so that you can get to know them better and see their influence on our league both on and off the lanes: Read the rest of this entry »
