The Spring 2015 Position Round saw almost unbearably high temperatures in the bowling alley and also saw hot action in all four matchups.UPDATE! The mystery of the standings discrepancy has been solved. Last week our server needed a restore from backup and this restore happened to also restore a typo that had been previously fixed. That typo resulted in Squirtin' Tuna being credited with 1 more win than they actually had. So yes, Seth Gunderson, it turns out they were bowling in the correct position this week. Updates below...First up, on lanes 41 & 42: Amazeballs hoped to extend their first place lead, and with the help of Angela Bradford and her 589 series, they not only succeeded but also put themselves (just barely) beyond one-week's reach of their closest competition. The most interesting facet of this matchup, however, is that her own brother Carl Goetz rolled a 704 series (the 6th in his career) but it wasn't enough secure even a single win in a very intense battle. Sponsored By Rogue drops 2 spots to 4th place 1 spot to 3rd place, part of a three-way tie.On lanes 43 & 44: a very fishy matchup saw Squirtin' Tunas deliver such an intense onslaught that the low bowler on the team was... Aaron Barber ?!?!?. With yet another new personal best series by Michael Gordon for the second week in a row, a 643 this week, the Tuna secured three victories to climb to 2nd place but remain in 4th place due to total pins (part of a 3-way tie). Meanwhile, Aubrey Moren had to roll a new personal best game of 278 (which is also the new high score for this season) to lead 10 Pins 10 Balls to their lone win with his 641 series. 10 Pins drops 1 spot 2 spots to 5th place. On lanes 45 & 46: In the quickest matchup of the night as both teams coped with their anchors away, Gimme Headpin finally saw signs of life with the return of as full a roster as they're going to get the rest of this season. Brian Coe's 618 series was more than enough to get a clean sweep against Split It & Hit It (led by Todd Way's 407 series). Headpin climbs 1 spot to 3rd place 3 spots to 2nd place (the total pins leader in a 3-way tie), while Split It drops a spot to 7th.

Big games from
What a difference one night can make! Despite one team needing to post-bowl once again, seven – count 'em, SEVEN – teams swapped places in the league standings after Week #4 action was posted. While not everything be updated, it's pretty apparent that this week will go down as one of the biggest reshuffles we've seen in quite some time. Here's how almost all of it played out...The results of the matchup between

There's an old saying that history repeats itself...well, considering that we only lost four bowlers from last season, it seems that the league is falling right back into the way it finished in the Fall for the most part. Week #3 is typically the calm after the storm of the first two weeks as averages wildly fluctuate but begin to settle. Tentatively, only two teams swapped places in the league standings as the bowlers of the Spring 2015 season get ready for the next 13 weeks of competition. NOTE: Until the members of

The most volatile week of each season is always, without a doubt, Week #2. Averages set the in the debut week fluctuate wildly as bowlers either get hot or cool off and teams struggle to secure victories during this roller coaster ride. A total of six teams swapped places Tuesday night with the exception of the team on top and the team on bottom but we're pretty confident that this pattern will continue as the Spring 2015 season rolls on. Amazingly, six bowlers in the league currently carry averages above 200 – the most we've ever seen in league history. In the first matchup of the evening,
With the holiday season behind us, it was once again time to get down to business with the 31st season of GutterAlley action. Thirty-two bowlers across eight teams will duke it out over 16 weeks as one team will make its way to winning it all and be named the champs of the Spring 2015 season. While the majority of the league showed up to kick off Week #1 action, one team was mysteriously absent...Kicking the season off on the first pair of lanes, last season's 2nd and 3rd place finishers did battle once again in a roller coaster of a matchup. Behind an impressive start for his season,
The holiday season is behind us and it's already that time again – dust off your balls and say goodbye to the wife and kids as it's time to head back onto the battlefields as the 31st season of GutterAlley actions begins this evening. This season will feature three new recruits making their debut this season! A special welcome to rookies
The Fall 2014 season – our 30th since beginning back in the Winter of 1999 – came to a big finish Tuesday night with quite a few season-wide records to go with it. Not only was this
With the results of Week #15 recorded, the matchups in the Finals this season are all set. It's been an interesting run so far, with a number of teams bouncing all over the place throughout the past four months and a number of long-time records falling. Collectively, this season has witnessed our roster of 32 bowlers throwing
Thanksgiving is later this week and, in its own special way, the league gave thanks to the Bowling Gods by sacrificing many, many turkeys on the lanes in Week #14 action. After the feathers stopped flying, half of the league managed to change places in the standings with the top two teams remaining neck and neck with two weeks to go. The standings at the end of next week will determine the seeding in The Finals. After their dominating victory last week over their main competition,
The Finals are less than a month away now and, with the results of Week #13, it's still almost anybody's game. Big scores and even bigger series continue to permeate the league as teams strive to add as many wins to their record before it's all said and done. Hell, three different bowlers shot a 256 tonight. So let's get down to the particulars, shall we?Try as they might,
While temperatures plummeted outside, scores plummeted inside overall in Week #12 of GutterAlley action as our league average took a dive. Despite big victories across the four matchups only two teams ended up moving at all in the league standings. Gaps are starting to form in-between the various teams throughout the league as the Finals draw closer and closer. Brace yourself, folks...it's going to be a bumpy ride.In the first matchup of the night,
With the baseball season finally over, 31 of the 32 bowlers competing in the Fall 2014 season showed up to do battle in Week #11 of GutterAlley action. With six teams changing spots in the league standings, it turns out that only three games separate the top four teams in the league and total pins are coming into play to slot the competitors. Several bowlers shot their personal bests as league continues to march onward towards the Finals a mere five weeks away.In the first matchup of the night,
With the Royals on the brink of elimination in the World Series playing in the background, the GutterAlley bowling league stepped up to the plate in a big way during Week #10 action. In what is shaping up to be
Tuesday night saw the Kansas City Royals return to the World Series for the first time in 29 years. Unlike the Royals, bowlers put up big scores to ensure the teams came away with wins including one that nearly ended in a perfect game. The complete story of Week #9 cannot be told just yet as the current league leaders are post-bowling later in the week but, what we have so far, is pretty impressive. Read on.In the first matchup of the night – which coincidentally was the last one to finish up – saw the last frame rolled by
With the Royals playing once again, pre-bowling scores riddled the league's matchups and worked as a mixed bag across the board. A Hall of Famer reminded the league why he's one of the best bowlers we've ever seen en route to keeping his team atop the league standings while six other teams played musical chairs in the league standings. Ready to see how it all played out? Well, what are you waiting for?!?In the first matchup of the evening, half of

At the conclusion of Week #7 Tuesday night, every team has now faced one another once. With the position round looming just ahead, wins become imperative while jockeying for a better spot where you can do more damage against your closest opponent. While the top three teams didn't budge, 4th through 8th place jumped, jived, and wailed into new spots. This season has seen some impressive scores and series from both teams as well as individuals and this week was no exception. Ready to hear the particulars? Well, read on...Coming off an impressive run with last week's matchup of being the only team to outright win a series against the 1st place team,
With the Kansas City Royals amazingly making it into the post-season for the first time since some of our league bowlers were born, half of the league did not show up to roll with plans to either post-bowl or already having pre-bowled. Week #6 had a lot of TBDs and tentatives...until now.The matchup between
