The fifth week of Fall 2009 saw three teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. Janelle (Laube) Lamar picked up this week's high game (138) and series (398) for the women, while David Codding earned this week's high game (205) and series (609) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 19 & 20: Rollin' J's shared a platter of cheese sticks with Ebowla. Headlined by Jerry Krall with his 383 series, Rollin' J's collected 3 wins against Ebowla. On the adjacent lane, Jason Carpio laid down the law in Ebowla with his (either injured, sick, or sandbagging) 377 despite his team notching only a single win. Rollin' J's leap 1 spot in the standings to 7th place, while Ebowla plunges 2 spots to 6th.
On lanes 21 & 22: Chicks With Balls kept stealing sips of beer from Sweep The Leg, Johnny. Despite being led by Janelle (Laube) Lamar with her 398 series, the Chicks got swept by Sweep The Leg. On the other half of the score sheet, #1 Head-to-Head David Codding mastered Sweep The Leg with his above-average 609 as they swept the competition. Chicks With Balls plummet 2 spots in the standings to 9th place, while Sweep The Leg remains in 1st.
On lanes 23 & 24: Quick Release alternated splits with No Pinheads. Reinforced by Ryan Doll with his below-average 512 series, with a nod to #1 Power-Ranked Brett Schroeder, Quick Release split the series with No Pinheads. As for the opposition, Pat Searcy oversaw No Pinheads with his below-average 538 as they matched their opponent in wins. Quick Release remains in 2nd place, while No Pinheads remain in 3rd.
On lanes 25 & 26: Split Happens took turns kicking the ball return with BILFs. Regardless of the star power of Nick Allegri with his below-average 384 series, Split Happens got swept by BILFs. In the midst of this, Scott Murdock took the lead in BILFs with his below-average 452 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Derrick Grimpo) as they swept the competition. Split Happens remains in 10th place, while BILFs jump 2 spots to 4th.
Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: WWJB had a rendezvous with BOWLSH!T. Although topped by Dave Winger with his 421 series, WWJB accomplished only 1 win against BOWLSH!T. Countering this, Orion Kinkaid guided BOWLSH!T with his dramatic 395 as his team took the series with 3 wins. WWJB remains in 5th place, while BOWLSH!T moves 1 spot to 8th.
Bowlers slipping under the velvet rope in front of The 200 Club include: David Codding (203,205,201), Jason Carpio (200), and Pat Searcy (201)
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: David Codding cleaned up Division 1, while nobody claimed victory in Division 2 (though Dave Winger came closest). AJ Hofmann staked a claim for the Iron Throne in Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Amy Goodnow came closest). Finally, Orion Kinkaid (Division 4) triumphed over his enemies in this week's Interdivisional bracket. In terms of overall points: David Codding is in the driver's seat in Division 1; Aubrey Moren and Brett Schroeder call the shots in Division 2 in a tie; Ryan Simonet and AJ Hofmann lead Division 3 in a tie; and Orion Kinkaid, Jared Goff, Derrick Grimpo, Amy Goodnow, and Amanda Duncan lead Division 4 in a tie.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 19&20, 5th-place WWJB (hcp 96) will tussle with 2nd-place Quick Release. WWJB is expected to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Quick Release is forecast to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
- Moving to lanes 21&22, 10th-place Split Happens will test their mettle against 7th-place Rollin' J's (hcp 71). Split Happens might maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Rollin' J's ought to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
- Then, over on lanes 23&24, 6th-place Ebowla (hcp 160) will throw some gutter balls with 1st-place Sweep The Leg, Johnny. Ebowla will likely roll decently, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Sweep The Leg will probably drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
- Next up, on lanes 25&26, 9th-place Chicks With Balls (hcp 20) will chuck some balls with 8th-place BOWLSH!T. The Chicks might perform well and sweep the series; while BOWLSH!T ought to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
- Finally, on lanes 27&28, 4th-place BILFs (hcp 94) will spend some quality time with 3rd-place No Pinheads. BILFs are predicted to perform well, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while No Pinheads are anticipated to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
