Spring 2008 Week 8 Robo-RecapWe are now halfway through the Spring 2008 season, so time is running out for those teams who want a shot at the championship to position themselves. The eighth week saw three teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (224) and series (535) for the women, while John Coleman earned this week's high game (217) and series (599) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 19 & 20: You Don't Know Sh!t waged a heated competition against Dr. Strangelanes, Or How I Learned To Stop Opening And Earn The Belt. Despite being led by Cory Chorpenning with his below-average 539 series, Don't Know Sh!t accomplished only 1 win against Dr. Strangelanes. Simultaneously, Shaun Crockett oversaw Dr. Strangelanes with his above-average 473 as his team took the series with 3 wins. You Don't Know Sh!t remains in 3rd place, while Dr. Strangelanes remain in 5th.

week8On lanes 21 & 22: Bad Newz Kennels spent a romantic evening with Ebowla. With top billing by Freda Schroeder with her above-average 535 series, the Kennels collected 3 wins against Ebowla. Across the ball return, Chris Lewis laid down the law in Ebowla with his 426 despite his team notching only a single win. Bad Newz Kennels leap 1 spot in the standings to 1st place, while Ebowla plunges 2 spots to 8th.

On lanes 23 & 24: 3 Dudes and a Doll celebrated their love of large, heavy balls with ?. Notwithstanding the leadership of Chris Rigdon with his below-average 469 series, 3 Dudes and a Doll got swept by ?. On the other side, trifecta-winner (#1 Head-to-Head, #1 Power-Ranked, and Most Valuable Bowler) John Coleman shined in ? with his dramatic 599 as they swept the competition. 3 Dudes and a Doll drops 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while ? moves 1 spot to 7th.

On lanes 25 & 26: Sofa King Good did battle with Dios Mios. While headlined by Don Glasscock with his (either injured, sick, or sandbagging) 550 series, Sofa King got swept by Dios Mios. In the midst of this, Bill Krejci ruled Dios Mios with his 533 as they swept the competition. Sofa King Good remains in 4th place, while Dios Mios move 1 spot to 6th.

Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: Split Happens kept grabbing the balls of It's Britney, Bitch. Blessed by James Long with his 512 series, Split Happens collected 3 wins against Britney. In the meantime, Jeff Unseld dominated Britney with his above-average 405 despite his team notching only a single win. Split Happens remains in 10th place, while Britney remains in 9th.

Bowlers slipping into The 200 Club include: Angela Bradford (204), Bill Krejci (210), Cory Chorpenning (213), Don Glasscock (208), Freda Schroeder (224), John Coleman (217), and Seth Gunderson (202)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Freda Schroeder (224, previous best 222). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Shaun Crockett (473, previous best 461).

Adding to the excitement, the 224 rolled by Freda Schroeder is this season's new high game among women.

The 224 rolled by Freda Schroeder is the new 8th-best women's game in league history!

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Bill Krejci topped Division 1, while John Coleman spanked Division 2. Kris Hiestand dominated Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though John Keck came closest). And, finally, nobody claimed victory in the Interdivisional bracket, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about this bracket as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Don Glasscock is in the driver's seat in Division 1; Dennis Laube leads Division 2; John Richardson runs the show in Division 3; and Aubrey Moren governs Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:
  • First, on lanes 19&20, 1st-place Bad Newz Kennels will share a couple of pitchers with 7th-place ? (hcp 84). The Kennels are expected to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while ? is forecast to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
  • Moving to lanes 21&22, 4th-place Sofa King Good will throw some gutter balls with 9th-place It's Britney, Bitch (hcp 192). Sofa King might roll a little low, yet still manage to sweep the series; while Britney ought to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
  • Then, over on lanes 23&24, 5th-place Dr. Strangelanes, Or How I Learned To Stop Opening And Earn The Belt will challenge 6th-place Dios Mios (hcp 50). Dr. Strangelanes will likely maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Dios Mios will probably hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Next up, on lanes 25&26, 8th-place Ebowla will tussle with 10th-place Split Happens (hcp 12). Ebowla might maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Split Happens ought to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
  • Finally, on lanes 27&28, 3rd-place You Don't Know Sh!t will roll against 2nd-place 3 Dudes and a Doll (hcp 93). Don't Know Sh!t is predicted to roll a little low, yet still manage to win the series; while 3 Dudes and a Doll is anticipated to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
