We are now halfway through the Fall 2002 season, so time is running out for those teams who want a shot at the championship to position themselves. The eighth week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (153) and series (433) for the women. As for the men, Bob Brunker snagged this week's high game with a 210, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 569. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 17 & 18: Top Guns deliberately ate cheese sticks in front of GRRR. Led by Most Valuable Bowler Bob Brunker and his 529 series, Top Guns celebrated a clean sweep over GRRR. Concurrently, Byron Hester drew the spotlight in GRRR with his 395 despite his team getting swept. Top Guns remains in 1st place, while GRRR remains in 6th.
On lanes 19 & 20: Team 5 accepted a challenge by Pop Gunns. Starring David Codding with his above-average 519 series, with props to #1 Power-Ranked and Most Valuable Bowler Bob Brunker, Team 5 collected 3 wins against Pop Gunns. As for the opposition, Carl Goetz reigned supreme in Pop Gunns with his above-average 569 despite his team notching only a single win. Team 5 remains in 2nd place, while Pop Gunns remain in 3rd.
Finally, down on lanes 21 & 22: Team 6 took turns kicking the ball return with UnaBowlers. Demonstrating the prowess of Nik Domann with his spectacular 475 series, Team 6 celebrated a clean sweep over the UnaBowlers. Across the ball return, Corey Weinfurt mastered the UnaBowlers with his above-average 474 despite his team getting swept. Team 6 leaps 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while the UnaBowlers sink 1 spot to 5th.

A new personal high game was set tonight by Jerry Krall (180, previous best 167). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Tracey Robertson (372, previous best 338) and Jerry Krall (495, previous best 442).

- First, on lanes 17&18, 4th-place Team 6 will match wits with 3rd-place Pop Gunns. Team 6 is expected to watch their averages take a plunge, but split the series with Pop Gunns; while Pop Gunns are forecast to see their team average take a dive while they keep the series tied.
- Moving to lanes 19&20, 5th-place UnaBowlers will tussle with 6th-place GRRR. The UnaBowlers might drop their averages like a brick, but split the series with GRRR; while GRRR ought to see their team average take a dive while they keep the series tied.
