Mopping It Up

Posted by ScooterJ April 12, 2017 Spring 2017, Week 12 View Score Sheets

Tonight was a night of almost all sweeps, and saw a formerly near-last-place team barrel its way into the top half of the standings. Meanwhile the formerly first-place team became increasingly frustrated with their inability to regain the lead and it cost them their most precious commodity.

Gordon Wetfoot doesnt know where he went wrong, but his growler's gone, and he just can't get it back.

In the only non-sweep of the night, Frankee's Uncles sparred with FYWFK. Led by Ken M. Wilson and his 634 series, Frankee's Uncles secured 3 wins against FYWFK. With FYWFK forfiting game 1 due to not having quorum, half the team finally assembled for the second game. AJ Hofmann topped FYWFK with a 419 series (due to bowling game 1 for fun, which does count towards his league average despite the forfeit), and apparently slipped Carl some cash to eke out one win in game three. Frankee's Uncles remains in 1st place, while FYWFK remains in 7th.

On lanes 3 & 4: In another heartbreak for Suckeredusintoit, Aubrey Moren and his 605 series led Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! to a clean sweep. Poor Suckered is now in their third week of finallyt having a complete team but just can't seem to catch a break. Dennis Walling led Suckered in their losing effort with a 501 series. Suckeredusintoit remains in 8th place, while Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! remains in 3rd.

In the night's most confusing matchup, but one that would have ended the same way no matter how you arranged it, Terra Bowler exchanged their position in the top half of the standings with Trump's Toupee. Dustin Schmeltz and his 566 series led Toupee secured a clean sweep, assisted by great bowling by both fifth-man Jeremy Varnell -- who had to switch who he was subbing for after game 1 when James Tott suddenly arrived -- and also by the late-arriving Tott himself. Meanwhile Ben Spencer and his 469 series led Terra Bowler as they slipped into the bottom half. Terra Bowler drops 1 spot in the standings to 5th place, while Trump's Toupee makes tonight's biggestleap by jumping 2 spots to 4th.

Our fourth matchup of the evening is brought to you by...

Cinder block brewery invites you to stop by our taproom for a glass of hand crafted beer. Or take a growler with you, it makes great bowling alley floor cleaner!

Down on lanes 7 & 8: Omaha Hambone found themselves exposed to Ebowla. Fortunately, bathing in a moderate to high IBU beer is proven to combat most forms of hemorrhagic fever. Led by Aaron Barber and his 673 series, Omaha Hambone secured a clean sweep over Ebowla. Meanwhile, led by Sean Simmons and his 485 series, Ebowla got swept... and probably mopped, too. Omaha Hambone remains in 2nd place, while Ebowla drops 1 spot to 6th.

This week in Tournament of Champions, Aaron Barber cleaned up Division 1 to move into 2nd place. In Division 2, Phil Schroeder hung JV out to dry to move into 2nd as well. Dennis Laube might as well be awarded all the money now since he won't allow anyone else to do anything in Division 3. Finally, with only 3 bowlers present for game 1, Division 4 had no winner but Chantal Jacot still earned a few points to extend her lead.

Bowlers entering The 200 Club this week include: Aaron Barber (210,234,229), Aubrey Moren (200,227), Carl Goetz (234,223), Dennis Laube (222), Dennis Walling (204), Dustin Schmeltz (214), Ken M. Wilson (245,203), Michael Gordon (224), Michael Mead (203), Phil Schroeder (214), and Sean Simmons (210)
