The fifth week of Spring 2010 saw two teams climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (204) and series (527) for the women. As for the men, Phil Schroeder snagged this week's high game with a 232, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 569. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 25 & 26: Lil' Devils sparred with Empire Strikes Back. Even though highlighted by the skills of Janelle (Laube) Lamar with her above-average 405 series, Lil' Devils got swept by the Empire. Simultaneously, Carl Goetz showed off in the Empire with his 569 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Chris Lewis) as they swept the competition. Lil' Devils remains in 8th place, while the Empire moves 1 spot to 3rd.
On lanes 27 & 28: Scoot Gave Us The Schlitz kept grabbing the balls of Little Lebowski Urban Achievers. With the strength of Angela Bradford with her above-average 527 series, the Schlitz collected 3 wins against the Urban Achievers. In the meantime, Greg Shelton laid down the law in the Urban Achievers with his phenomenal 453 despite his team notching only a single win. Scoot Gave Us The Schlitz leaps 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while the Urban Achievers plunge 2 spots to 5th.
On lanes 29 & 30: No Pinheads accepted a challenge by The Prak Attack. Topped by Phil Schroeder with his astounding 565 series, the Pinheads collected 3 wins against the Attack. While that was going down, Shane Pfaffly called the shots for the Attack with his 426 despite his team notching only a single win. No Pinheads remains in 1st place, while the Attack remains in 6th.
Finally, down on lanes 31 & 32: Bowlumpkin traded lane malfunctions with 3 Pin Moon. Despite being led by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Rich Foster and his remarkable 567 series, Bowlumpkin missed getting swept by 3 Pin Moon by just one pin. Concurrently, Ryan Doll ruled 3 Pin Moon with his 567 as his team took the series with 3.5 wins. Bowlumpkin remains in 7th place, while 3 Pin Moon remains in 2nd.
Bowlers who lied to their significant other claiming bowling was running long then went out for after-bowling drinks at The 200 Club include: Angela Bradford (204), Aubrey Moren (205), Carl Goetz (217), Phil Schroeder (232), Rich Foster (212), and Ryan Doll (201)
A new personal high game was set tonight by Tiffany Schmidt (171, previous best 161). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Rich Foster (567, previous best 520) and Tiffany Schmidt (380, previous best 377).
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Bob Brunker swept Division 1, while Phil Schroeder topped Division 2. Greg Shelton trounced Division 3, and Bill Riley made quick work of Division 4. In terms of overall points: Bob Brunker holds the reins in Division 1; Phil Schroeder runs the show in Division 2; Andrea Caudillo and Greg Shelton are both in the driver's seat (on each other's laps?) in Division 3 in a tie; and Sabrina Gray and Bill Riley govern Division 4 in a tie.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 25&26, 2nd-place 3 Pin Moon (hcp 16) will roll against 1st-place No Pinheads. 3 Pin Moon is expected to roll a little low, but split the series with the Pinheads; while the Pinheads are forecast to drop their average a bit while they keep the series tied.
- Moving to lanes 27&28, 6th-place The Prak Attack (hcp 40) will share a couple of pitchers with 7th-place Bowlumpkin. The Attack might maintain their current strength as they and split the series with Bowlumpkin; while Bowlumpkin ought to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
- Then, over on lanes 29&30, 4th-place Scoot Gave Us The Schlitz (hcp 68) will match wits with 3rd-place Empire Strikes Back. The Schlitz will likely maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the Empire will probably raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
- Finally, on lanes 31&32, 5th-place Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (hcp 10) will socialize with 8th-place Lil' Devils. The Urban Achievers are predicted to perform well, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Lil' Devils are anticipated to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
