Cover Story

We're sure this comes as no surprise to anyone, but since the extension of the local stay-at-home order means we'd have to roll until at least mid-July to finish the season — and that's assuming bowling alleys are even in the first wave of businesses able to re-open (unlikely) — we are just going to go ahead and call the rest of this season off. At least we are making a clean break at the "midpoint" of the season so everybody got to bowl against each other once.

3/23 UPDATE: Now that we are on full-on lockdown until April 24, the absolute earliest bowling might resume is April 28. And even that is completely up in the air as the situation changes every day. We're going to wait until AMF contacts us to discuss options before making any further updates.

The mid-season position round is over, so we're now officially halfway done. One bowler roll a new personal best game. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (199) and series (478) for the women, while Demonic Duncan Ferber earned this week's high game (249) and series (666) for the men. While first and last place remained unchanged, there was some light mixing throughout all the other positions. Of particular note, F. C. K. D. has pulled themselves out of the bottom half and finally achieved a winning record.

Repo Men

Posted by ScooterJ On March - 3 - 2020ADD COMMENTS

So far this season, Scootylicious was the first team to take possession of First Place, and maintained its care for three weeks. Then last week they sold it to Pin Is King 3. But the King's coffers were empty and this week they defaulted on the loan, prompting the Bank of KLEAN BAWLZ!!1 to call in the loan and repossess the title.

Triple Threat

Posted by ScooterJ On January - 28 - 2020ADD COMMENTS

There's really nothing special about having a multi-team tie for 1st place in the second week of the season, I just couldn't think of any particular fitting title for this week. And because describing this type of tie using normal lingo (a number followed by the word "way") attracts PornBots, we'll just refer to it as a First Place Trifecta. The elements going into this scenario include Carolina Mach (again) picking up this week's high game (147) and series (389) for the women, Ben Spencer snagging this week's high game for the men with a new personal best 240, and Aaron Barber landing high series with a 603. The Spring 2020 season is now underway, with eight teams entering the 16-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy*. One bowler set a new personal best series. Carolina Mach had a roller coaster of a night, picking up this week's high game (215) and series (416) for the women before setting a new record for plunging. Her 215 knocks Kathy Smith out of the 5th place for women's high game scratch, after holding a position in the top 5 for nearly 20 years. More on that below. Meanwhile Seth Gunderson earned this week's high game (254) and series (626) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

The End of an Era

As our 20th year of bowling came to a close and we prepare to embark on our next 20 years, the bowling alley echoed the moment by ripping out the ball returns and scoring consoles we've been kicking/using since our formation and replaced them with spiffy new ones have no idea the abuse they will soon endure.

Though it's been a few seasons since we last saw them on top, this makes the third title for this specific team. This is also the third title for Nick Kinney, the fourth for Aaron Barber, the seventh for Jonathan Vigliaturo, and then... twelfth... for Seth Gunderson. Congrats, guys! Happy Piniversary!

As our league offocially celebrated its 20th birthday, some sort of malaise of old age set in. Apart from a few bright spots, rolling this week was so lackluster than not only did no one earn Most Valuable Bowler, nobody even qualified to be a runner-up! Through the mediocirty two teams did manage to climb in the standings, to the detriment of the two teams that slipped. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (159) and series (433) for the women.
