Slow Motion

Posted by ScooterJ October 4, 2022 Fall 2022, Week 7 View Score Sheets

The seventh week of Fall 2022 saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (155) and series (431) for the women. As for the men, Matthew Taylor snagged this week's high game with a 236, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 649. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: In a fairly closely-matched lineup AJ's Minions somehow had to give up pins to Glory Bowl. Despite extra motivation generated by AJ Hofmann with his 494 series, the minions merely managed to split the series with the Glorious. In the midst of this, Brett Affolter with his 510 series showed off for the Glorious as they matched their opponent in wins. AJ's Minions remains in 2nd place, while the Glorious remain in 6th.

On lanes 3 & 4: We find a pairing of virtually equal strengths, as Baby Beardo and Balderdash alternated between bowling and asking Ron to set pins back up on lane 4. Propelled by the skills of Carl Goetz with his above-average 649 series, and supported tremendously by trifecta-winner #1 Power-Ranked, #1 Head-to-Head, and Most Valuable Bowler Aaron Barber, the Beardettes collected 3 wins against the balder dashers. As for the opposition, Matthew Taylor with his better-than-normal 624 series took charge of the balder dashers despite his team notching only a single win. Baby Beardo remains in 1st place, while the balder dashers sink 1 spot to 4th.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: Somewhere between paint drying and the movement of glaciers, as continents drifted and mountains eroded away, Sun Dolphins and I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter spent nearly into Wednesday slowly getting ariund to finishing their third game. Although blessed by Ryan Sisco with his 492 series, the dolphins accomplished only 1 win against the nonbelievers. Moving on to the challengers, JoAnne Barber with her better-than-normal 431 series laid down the law for the nonbelievers as her team took the match with 3 wins. Sun Dolphins remains in 5th place, while the nonbelievers move up 1 spot to 3rd.

Bowlers who stripped naked and shared a cozy hot tub together in a back room at The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (201,203), Carl Goetz (230,230), Matthew Taylor (236,208), and Nick Kinney (207)

A new personal best series was rolled tonight by JC Cox (344, previous best 323).

JoAnne Barber claimed the season's women's high series with her 431. In addition, Matthew Taylor nabbed this season's men's high game with his 236. Carl Goetz bagged the season's men's high series with his 649.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: AJ Hofmann routed Division 1, while Scott Murdock decimated Division 2. Aaron Barber had his way with Division 3, and Pat Hamell mopped up Division 4. In terms of overall points: Nick Kinney calls the shots Division 1; James Tott and Michael Gordon hold the reins in Division 2 in a tie; Ryan Sisco governs Division 3; and Ray Scott dominates Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 1st-place Baby Beardo will hang out with 3rd-place I Can't Believe It's Not Gutter (hcp 134). The Beardettes are expected to roll a little low and get swept; while the nonbelievers are forecast to raise their average while they rack up a sweep.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 2nd-place AJ's Minions will match wits with 5th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 64). The minions might maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while the dolphins ought to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 6th-place Glory Bowl (hcp 88) will test their mettle against 4th-place Balderdash. The Glorious are predicted to have a bit of an off night and get swept; while the balder dashers are anticipated to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
