Halfway to the Pot o’ Gold

Posted by ScooterJ March 14, 2017 Spring 2017, Week 8 View Score Sheets

Our season is now officially half over. Three teams are sliding along the downhill side of the rainbow towards the pot of gold, while everyone else is still back on the uphill slope, weighed down with too much corned beef and green beer.

A few members of Omaha Hambone were anxious to hit the road for Vegas and hoped to make quick work of a most-absent Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. And you'd think that being led by Kody Karnes and his luck-o-the-Irish 692 series would have been enough to do it. However, though dominated by the pre-bowled 634 series of Aubrey Moren, it was a cold-virus-riddled 194 game by Dennis Laube that let the air out of one of the Hambone tires before their road trip. Nonetheless, Omaha Hambone remains in 1st place, while Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! drops 1 spot to 3rd.

A virus infected the Laube
That left him all achey and snotty.
But thanks to some drugs
Game 1 beat the bugs,
But Games 2 and 3 were just shoddy.

Next up, 3/4 of Frankee's Uncles has mostly smooth going against 3/4 of Terra Bowler. Led by Ken M. Wilson and his 655 series, Frankee's Uncles secured 3 wins against Terra Bowler. However Scott Murdock and his 479 series briefly fought back via his first 200+ game since the blarney stone was still a molten pool of magma, landing 1 win for his team. Frankee's Uncles climbs 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Terra Bowler drops 1 spot to 5th.

There once was Carl who, we'd find
Was tops on his team every time.
But he got on a roll
Where the best he could bowl
Was when he was gone, as a blind.

Coming down with Ebowla would wreck just about any St. Patrick's party, and FYWFK found this out the hard way. Led by Sean Simmons and his 455 series (and an MVB by Chantal Jacot), Ebowla hemorrhaged 3 wins out of FYWFK. Meanwhile, defended by AJ Hofmann and his 494 series, FYWFK could only resist the infection with 1 win. Ebowla climbs 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while FYWFK remains in 6th.

A new rookie bowler named Dan
Concocted a hell of a plan.
His roll looked like butter
Till his ball bent the gutter
And the follow-through injured his hand.

After trading places with Trump's Toupee in the standings last week, Suckeredusintoit traded them right back this week. Led by Brandon Darby and his 334 series, Suckeredusintoit got swept by Trump's Toupee. Meanwhile, led by Dustin Schmeltz and his 522 series, Trump's Toupee achieved a clean sweep. We didn't see what caused this to happen, possibly a potato famine, but between the two teams only JoAnne Watson had a decent third game and game 3 was largely a game of attrition. Suckeredusintoit drops 1 spot in the standings to 8th place (until they almost certainly switch it again next week), while Trump's Toupee moves up 1 spot to 7th (until ditto).

A Toupee team member called dibs
On getting all bruised in the ribs.
Pat doesn't know how
Something made him say "Ow!"
But if Tott claims innocence, he fibs.

This week in Tournament of Champions: Ken Wilson gained some ground on Kody Karnes to secure 1st place, while Aubrey Moren won tonight's rounds to become a contender for 2nd. Division 2 was won by Ben Spencer, but the only movement was Sean Simmons gaining a little ground on Scoot. Nobody won Division 3 though Dennis Laube extended his lead. Finally, Chantal Jacot topped Division 4 and moved into 2nd place just behind James Tott.

Bowlers entering The 200 Club this week include: Aaron Barber (209,224), Aubrey Moren (232,217), Bob Brunker (227), Dustin Schmeltz (210), Ken M. Wilson (224,225,206), Kody Karnes (202,223,267), Michael Gordon (209,235), and Scott Murdock (202)

See you next week!

  FROM THE GUTTER (GUTTER QUOTE)
"Doesn't AJ have a Lucky Charms cereal box photo shoot he should be at or something?"

Chantal Jacot, rightly sticking up for Scoot after Scoot's 202 game wasn't enough to gain him any ground on his end-of-season average bet with AJ Hofmann.
