Corporate Challenge: Silver and Bronze

Posted by Ken June 20, 2011

The Kansas City Corporate Challenge bowling competition took place on Saturday, June 18th. Teams from all across the Greater Kansas City area competed in the annual event with VML digging in to face 'em all in Division E. The competition was strong but bowlers throughout GutterAlley's history showed up and came away with medals. The women's team was comprised of GutterAlley's own Sabrina Gray and Sarah Sauer along with VMLers Shelly Ledbetter and Kim Wallace. Ledbetter led the team with her 401 series. In a field of 16 teams, the women finished in 9th place. The men's team – who had never won a medal in the company's history – came away with the bronze medal behind a stellar performance by Brian Eye. Eye, finishing 10th overall in the individual competition for men (this includes both the men's field as well as the men in the co-ed competition), led the team with a 628 series. League bowler Orion Kinkaid and substitute Mike Berlin rolled alongside Eye and VMLer Jeff Berney to cap off the historic run.Year after year, the co-ed team has chased the gold medal and walked away with more silver and bronze medals than they care to remember. The 2011 competition served up yet another incredible – albeit BARELY dashed – run as four title winners (including two Hall of Famers) missed going home with the gold by a mere 13 pins. Comprised of Jennifer Seefeldt, Angela Bradford, Bill Krejci and Ken M. Wilson, the team narrowly missed that ever-elusive gold. Seefeldt earned a second medal as she rolled the second highest series overall for women in the entire division, ending her day with a 466 series. Individual finishes:Women's: Jennifer Seefeldt - 466 (155 average)Angela Bradford - 420 (140 average) Shelly Ledbetter - 401 (133 average)Sarah Sauer - 359 (119 average)Sabrina Gray - 349 (116 average)Kim Lawless - 248 (82 average)Men's:Brian Eye - 628 (209 average)Ken M.
