Nominee – Carl Goetz

Carl Goetz is a nominee for induction into the GutterAlley Hall of Fame during the Fall 2011 season.

Goetz joined the league in the Spring of 2001. Since then he has completed 18 seasons, winning the championship in 9 of those seasons – Fall 2001, Fall 2002, Fall 2003, Spring 2004, Fall 2005, Fall 2008, Spring 2010, Fall 2010, and Spring 2011. No stranger to high games, Carl's name appears in the top five individual achievement records in league history for: Men's High Series Scratch, High Game Scratch, High Series Handicap, and High Game Handicap. A legendary finisher in high pressure 10th frame situations, Goetz was named the Defensive Bowler of the Season four times and runner-up twice. Three times he was named the People's Choice Most Valuable Bowler as well as the runner-up twice. In the Spring 2011, he was the season's actual Most Valuable Bowler single-handedly keeping his team in first place all 16 weeks of the season. During the Spring 2006 season he missed rolling a perfect game by one pin, ending with a 279. He struck in every single frame except the 8th, when he got 9-pins and then picked up the spare. In 2003, during the Spring session, Carl became the very first bowler in the league to crest the 700+ series mark, ending with a 706.Carl has been the Most Valuable Bowler on seven separate occasions as well as runner-up an additional 13 times. His performances on Tuesday nights have resulted in seventeen #1 Power Ranked bowler nods, more than every other bowler except one in league history. Here are a few comments about Carl from those that nominated him:

"Each season that passes without inducting Carl into the Hall of Fame is a discredit to this incredibly determined and gifted bowler.""He is a consistent kick butt bowler, yeah, I've beat him a time or two, but I'm already in the Hall of Fame, so I can't vote for myself.""Cause he's legen... wait for it.... dary! He has been the top bowler in the league for years, and he's been in the league for a long, long time.""He's a bad ass. He's a bad ass. He's a bad ass. He's a bad ass. He's a bad ass.""He, as you know, is an excellent bowler that truly enjoys the game. He's too hard on himself and the ball return sometimes, but you know he likes being part of our group."

The GutterAlley Hall of Fame Screening Committee is proud to put Carl up for enshrinement.
