The Spring 2005 season draws to a close, with All Belt, No Buckle officially earning this season's championship title! The final week saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (201) and series (530) for the women, while Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (225) and series (594) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 19 & 20: All Belt, No Buckle chucked gutter balls with 4 Play. Although topped by Seth Gunderson with his 451 series, the Belt accomplished only 1 win against 4 Play. Countering this, Pat Searcy guided 4 Play with his 536 as his team took the series with 3 wins. All Belt, No Buckle close out in 1st place, while 4 Play end up with 2nd.
On lanes 21 & 22: Sub Parre faced off against Nellielocks and the 3 Spares. Blessed by Ken M. Wilson with his 572 series, Sub Parre collected 3 wins against Nellielocks. Simultaneously, Rich DeYoung oversaw Nellielocks with his 520 despite his team notching only a single win. Sub Parre end the season in 3rd place, while Nellielocks cros the finish line in 4th.
On lanes 23 & 24: Handicrappers hung out with The Incredibowls. Regardless of the star power of Paul Linder with his above-average 438 series, Handicrappers got swept by The Incredibowls. Across the ball return, Carl Goetz took the lead in The Incredibowls with his above-average 594 (benefitted greatly by real star — trifecta-winner #1 Power-Ranked, #1 Head-to-Head, and Most Valuable Bowler Freda Schroeder) as they swept the competition. Handicrappers drop 1 spot in the standings to complete in 6th place, while The Incredibowls move 1 spot to go home with 5th.
Finally, down on lanes 25 & 26: Bowlingstar Galactica matched wits with Big Pin Pin. Led by Eric Lynch with his below-average 464 series, the Galactica collected 3 wins against Pin Pin. . With Pin Pin forfeiting, all the Galactica needed to do was roll within 40 pins of their combined team average each game. However, that would not be the case. Bowlingstar Galactica finish in 7th place, while Pin Pin wind up in 8th.
Bowlers who lied to their significant other claiming bowling was running long then went out for after-bowling drinks at The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (225), David Parre (210), Freda Schroeder (201), Ken M. Wilson (205,204), Pat Searcy (200), and Rich DeYoung (200)
After a hard fought season, the Tournament of Champions was won tonight by Michael Basham (Division 2),
with Rich DeYoung (Division 1) landing in second place. Michael will pocket the nice first-place pot,
while Rich will take away the second-place pot. Congratulations!
