The ninth week of Fall 2026 delivered a bottom-of-the-standings reset, spectacular individual performances, and enough bowling drama to make the storm a few miles north look like a calm sunny day! One team climbed the standings while another slid backward to its usual next, proving that in Gutter Alley, gravity is not merely a force of nature; it is a competitive strategy. I'm Alotta Tenpin, your exuberant sideline reporter, and I've got the play-by-play on every triumph, heartbreak, and mysteriously disappearing pin. JoAnne Barber captured the woman's high game with 127 and high series with 345, while Dennis Walling blasted the men's high game with 214 and Jon Little claimed the men's high series with 537. Buckle up, bowlers, because this week's action is ready to roll! And don't forget to check out this week's bingo results!
Squid Row: Tentacles of Triumph
Ladies and gentlemen, the squids have surfaced, and they are grabbing victory with all eight arms! Squid Row took three of the four available points against One Woman, Three Excuses, holding on to first place with the sort of confidence usually reserved for people who know exactly where the sleeper pin is hiding. Dennis Walling came out bowling arm swinging with a monstrous 214, the men's high game of the night, before the team's scoring cooled off in Game 2. Matthew Taylor contributed a 496 series, below the pace of his 176 average, so even the team's tentacles had a few slippery moments. Ben Spencer missed the third game due to being carried off by a twister, leaving the crew to navigate part of the evening without all hands on deck, and either Chris Windham or Scott Thompson -- whichever it's supposed to be at this point -- was absent entirely. I have to say, the squid-patterned shirts are a bold fashion statement; the coordinated aquatic aesthetic practically screams, "We came to ink the competition!" The team won Games 1 and 3 and the total series, losing only Game 2. Dennis Walling boasted, "That 214 was my way of reminding everyone who's in charge around here. The rest of the team just had to make sure they didn't embarrass me afterward!" Squid Row remains in 1st place, holding its ground at the top of the food chain.
One Woman, Three Excuses: One Woman, One Comeback, Three Losses
Oh, the humanity! One Woman, Three Excuses opened with a loss, exploded for a Game 2 victory, then watched the final game and total series slip away. The team's emotional trajectory resembled a roller coaster designed by someone who had never heard of safety regulations. Jeremy Varnell delivered the evening's most astonishing over-average performance, launching a 172 that was 71 pins above his average of 101 and the team's highest game. He followed it with a 78, however, demonstrating that consistency is apparently an optional accessory. JoAnne Barber, the team's namesake woman and a determined competitor, had a quieter night overall but rallied to a 127 in Game 3 -- earning the women's high-game honors and finishing with a 345 series. Chris Lenz led the team in total pins with 362, while Jesse Sauerbrei produced a strong 150 in Game 2 to help fuel the comeback. Unfortunately, one victorious game wasn't enough to rescue the series. Jeremy Varnell insisted, "I shot 172, which was 71 pins over my average. Then I shot 78, because apparently I believe in keeping my opponents emotionally invested!" One Woman, Three Excuses remains in 3rd place, unchanged in the standings, and will surely return with at least three new explanations.

Rat & Roll: A Vintage Performance with a Sour Finish
Gather around the cheese board, fellow connoisseurs, because Rat & Roll uncorked a couple of delightful victories before the evening's vintage turned a little vinegary! These sophisticated rodents swept Games 1 and 2, with Andy Orwig pouring out a spectacular 187 in Game 2. That performance established a new personal-best league game, while his 440 series set a new personal series record and earned him the week's Most Valuable Bowler distinction. What a bouquet of brilliance! David Schemenauer added a solid 158 in Game 3, but the rats couldn't quite gnaw their way through the final frame of the evening's competition. Brandon Cook also contributed a respectable 381 series, while Kyle Weber endured a challenging night, finishing below his 101 average in all three games. The team won two individual games but lost Game 3 and the total series, leaving the overall match tied at two points apiece. Andy Orwig quipped, "A personal-best 440 series and a new high game! I would like to thank the grapes, the cheese, and everyone who didn't get in my way. The trophy cabinet is getting crowded!" Rat & Roll remains in 4th place, unchanged in the standings. They may have lost the series, but these wine-loving rodents still have plenty of corks left to pop.
The Queenpins: Royal Decree, Delivered by Messenger Pin
Make way for the crown, because The Queenpins survived an early deficit and seized the total-series victory with a royal flourish! Their evening began with an eight-pin heartbreak in Game 1, followed by another loss in Game 2, but these royal rollers refused to abdicate. Ryan Sisco, sporting a ball cap over his short gray hair and enough gray stubble to suggest years of royal intrigue, delivered a terrific 460 series against his 129 average. His performance also earned him the week's #1 Head-to-Head and #1 Power-Ranked honors. Jon Little supplied the fireworks with a 201 game and a 537 series, reaching the milestone of 10 career 200-plus games. That's a kind of like a decade's worth of bowling excellence. Todd Kasik struggled with an 80 in Game 1 but recovered with a 124 and then a 139, helping Queenpins claim Game 3 and the total series. Jon Little proclaimed, "I hit 201, reached ten league 200s, and helped bring home the series. You're welcome, Your Majesty. I assume the crown comes with a parking spot." The Queenpins move up one position to 5th place, a royal promotion earned through perseverance and some timely pin diplomacy.

Fist My Bump: Pin Tau-Setter Edition
The beetles have been sent to earth to announce we have a bowling team! Fist My Bump
launched a three-point mission against BowlJobs, and the crew returned with two game and one total-series victories safely aboard. Scott Murdock was the mission commander, blasting an 183 in Game 2 and finishing with a 472 series, comfortably above his 142 average. That's the sort of performance that makes Rocky rather bowl than save Erid. AJ Hofmann experienced a rough descent at Adrian, with his scores falling across the three games. Tim Deddens struggled in the first two games before recovering to 132 in Game 3, while Jim Koger quietly maintained a remarkably steady course. The team dropped Game 1 but recovered to win Games 2 and 3 and the total series. Scott Murdock explained, "I handled the pressure, launched that 183, and got our mission back on course. The rest of you can thank me later. Rocky would have been proud, although he'd probably have asked me to explain why our balls and pins are made from inefficient materials instead of superior xenonite." With three of the four available points secured, the team can celebrate a successful interstellar expedition. Fist My Bump remains in 2nd place, holding steady and keeping the championship dream alive.
BowlJobs: Promising Pin-tential Blown Prematurely
Well, folks, BowlJobs got off to a promising start, winning Game 1 before watching the rest of the evening's opportunities slip through their fingers like a torn packet of lube. There was plenty of chemistry on display, but the team couldn't quite get the pins to cooperate with its romantic ambitions. Chris Hagan delivered the team's high game with a 157 and finished with a 363 series, opening above his 133 average before suffering two difficult outings. Kurt Fredrickson struggled throughout the evening, finishing below his 125 average in all three games. Brian Schaben was still away recovering from his botched gender reassignment surgery, while Mike Fitzgerald was unexpectedly detained while smuggling Ožujsko across the Kansas border. BowlJobs won Game 1, then lost Games 2 and 3 and the total series. Chris Hagan shot back, "I put up a 157, and somehow that still wasn't enough. I keep getting within inches of humping Scoot's ass only to fall flaccid!" The team drops one position to 6th place. The good news? There's still time to turn things around. The bad news? It's going to take a lot of successful humping to get there.

And there you have it, bowling fans! Week 9 delivered a commanding performance from Squid Row, a royal recovery from The Queenpins, a personal-record celebration for Andy Orwig, and a three-point launch for Fist My Bump. Meanwhile, One Woman, Three Excuses flashed a dazzling Game 2 comeback, Rat & Roll uncorked some memorable moments, and BowlJobs learned that one good game doesn't always make for a happy ending. Through every strike, spare, gutterball, and emotional roller coaster, the standings remain a living, breathing drama. Will the leaders hold their ground? Can the challengers mount a comeback? And which bowler will next send the pins scrambling for cover? I'm Alotta Tenpin, reporting from the sidelines, where the action is always rolling and the puns are never in short supply. Until next week, keep your eyes on the pins and your expectations somewhere between a perfect game and a spectacular blooper reel!

Bowlers enjoying a guest pass to The 200 Club include: Dennis Walling (214) and Jon Little (201)
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Jon Little cleaned up Division 1, while Ryan Sisco trounced Division 2. Andy Orwig clobbered Division 3, and Jesse Sauerbrei topped Division 4. In terms of overall points: Jon Little runs the show in Division 1; Tim Deddens and Scott Murdock hold the reins in Division 2 in a tie; Brandon Cook governs Division 3; and Jesse Sauerbrei leads Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 1&2, 4th-place Rat & Roll (hcp 44) will throw some gutter balls with 2nd-place Fist My Bump
. Rats are expected to roll a little low, but split the series with Fist My Bump; while Fist My Bump is forecast to drop their average a bit while they keep the series tied. - Moving to lanes 3&4, 3rd-place One Woman, Three Excuses (hcp 14) will match wits with 6th-place BowlJobs. Excuses might maintain their current strength as they and split the series with BJs; while BJs ought to drop their average a bit while they keep the series tied.
- Finally, on lanes 5&6, 5th-place The Queenpins (hcp 110) will socialize with 1st-place Squid Row. Queenpins are predicted to have a bit of an off night and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Squids are anticipated to drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
