Glory Bowl Rises & Shines

Posted by BowlingBot March 5, 2024 Spring 2024, Week 7 View Score Sheets

The seventh week of Spring 2024 saw Glory Bowl climb substantially in the standings, while two other teams slipped. Wonder Twin powers were activated as JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (123) and series (354) for the woman while Michael Gordon earned this week's high game (237) and series (654) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

Squid Row vs. Sun Dolphins (Lanes 1 & 2)
In a battle for supremacy, Squid Row and Sun Dolphins clashed tentacle-to-flipper. Matthew Taylor of Squid Row dominated with a stellar 604 series, leading his team to a triumphant victory with 3 wins. Despite Scott Thompson's valiant efforts for the Dolphins with a better-than-normal 495 series, they could only muster a single win. Squid Row reigns supreme, holding onto their 1st place, while the Dolphins and their barnacle-crusted blowholes find themselves listing 6th.

Schindler's Fists vs. DB Lenz a Hand (Lanes 3 & 4)
The showdown of the titans unfolded as Schindler's Fists faced off against DB Lenz a Hand. Michael Gordon, the #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head bowler, delivered a magnificent 654 series, leading the Fists to a resounding clean sweep over Lenz Handlers. Doug Lenz showed resilience with a better-than-normal 465 series, but it wasn't enough to stave off the Fists' onslaught. Schindler's Fists maintains their stronghold in 2nd place, while Lenz Handlers slide down a notch to 5th.

Scoot crapped all over the lanes.

Grumpy Old Men vs. Glory Bowl (Lanes 5 & 6)
The alleys witnessed low-octane drama as Grumpy Old Men clashed with Glory Bowl. AJ Hofmann's below-average 499 series was a glimmer of hope for the Grumps, but the MVP title seemed to elude them, especially with Least Valuable Bowler Scott Murdock unable to break 100 in the third game. Meanwhile, Kent Harms unleashed a better-than-normal 562 series for Glory, securing a sweeping victory alongside the Most Valuable Bowler, Carl Mueller. Grumpy Old Men tumble down a spot to 4th place, while Glory triumphantly jumps up two positions to 3rd

Bowlers who crashed the party at The 200 Club include: Dennis Walling (210), Kent Harms (205), Matthew Taylor (232), and Michael Gordon (237,219)

The 654 rolled by Michael Gordon is this season's new high series for men.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Kent Harms dominated Division 1, while Scott Thompson ruled Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though JC Cox came closest), and Carl Mueller crushed Division 4. In terms of overall points: Matthew Taylor governs Division 1; Scott Thompson leads Division 2; Chris Windham and Buck Nasty call the shots in Division 3 in a tie; and Ryan Sisco runs the show in Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 2nd-place Schindler's Fists will face 3rd-place Glory Bowl (hcp 64). Fists are expected to roll a little low, yet still manage to sweep the series; while Glory is forecast to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 1st-place Squid Row will test their mettle against 4th-place Grumpy Old Men (hcp 46). Squids might maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Grumps ought to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 6th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 8) will share a couple of pitchers with 5th-place DB Lenz a Hand. Dolphins are predicted to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Lenz Handlers are anticipated to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
