Epic of the Underdog: Triumphs in Bowling

Posted by BowlingBot November 14, 2023 Fall 2023, Week 12 View Score Sheets

In the twelfth week of Fall, a bowling saga unfolds,
Two teams ascended, while two in rankings doled.
A bowler, with prowess, set a personal best high,
As the alleys witnessed battles, fierce and nigh.

JoAnne Barber, a warrior of the fairer kin,
Her bowling prowess a melody, a sweet violin.
With a high game of one twenty-eight, she sung,
And a series of three seventy-six, victories flung.

Ben Spencer, a titan among the bowling men,
His prowess echoed in lanes, time and again.
Two-eleven, his high game, a thunderous roar,
A five sixty-nine series, leaving opponents ashore.

On lanes 1 & 2, Sun Dolphins took their stand,
Against Balderdash, a challenge most grand.
Scott Thompson, their champion with a four-seven-four,
Led his team to triumph, a victorious roar.

Bald Boys, the challengers, led by Ben so bold,
Despite a lone win, their tale was told.
A climb for Dolphins, a descent for the Boys,
In the standings, they rearranged their toys.

On lanes 3 & 4, a clash of titans, a spectacle grand,
Glory Bowl and √-1, strength at their command.
Brett Affolter, a hero with a four-seven-five,
Leading Glory Bowl to triumph, in their bowling hive.

Imaginary Number, AJ Hofmann's valiant crew,
A sweep against them, a tale of rue.
Glory Bowl ascends, a step on the stair,
Imaginary Number descends, a fate unfair.

Down on lanes 5 & 6, DB Lenz a Hand,
A celebration of skill, a bowling band.
Doug Lenz, a maestro with a five hundred feat,
Leading his team to victories, a rhythmic beat.

Vigs Eras Tour 2023, the challengers brave,
Nick Kinney, their hero, a skilled wave.
A five fifty-five series, a singular win,
In the bowling arena, battles within.

The saga unfolds, each strike a battle cry,
As teams rise and fall, beneath the bowling sky.
In this epic alley clash, victory and defeat,
A tale etched in the lanes, where rivals meet.

The only bowler who could afford the cover charge at The 200 Club was Ben Spencer (211)

A new personal best series was rolled tonight by Doug Lenz (500, previous best 487).

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1 (though Dennis Walling came closest), while Ben Spencer dominated Division 2. Doug Lenz topped Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Brian Schaben came closest). In terms of overall points: Aaron Barber runs the show in Division 1; Ben Spencer leads Division 2; Nicholas Knight is in the driver's seat in Division 3; and Brian Schaben governs Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 1st-place Vigs Eras Tour 2023 will face 4th-place √-1 (hcp 93). The Vigs Tour crew is expected to maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Imaginary Number is forecast to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 6th-place DB Lenz a Hand will socialize with 3rd-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 22). DB Handlers might roll a little low, yet still manage to win the series; while Dolphins ought to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 2nd-place Balderdash will match wits with 5th-place Glory Bowl (hcp 103). Bald Boys are predicted to have a bit of an off night, yet still manage to win the series; while the G-Holers are anticipated to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
