Slightly Too Shitty

Posted by ScooterJ February 21, 2023 Spring 2023, Week 5 View Score Sheets

Tonight was a night of almost complete sweepage, with both of the complete sweeps also serving as stunning upsets. One bowler set a new personal best game and series. In a shocking development, JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (128) and series (356) for the woman. As for the men, Nick Kinney snagged this week's high game with a 234, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 576. Read on for all the rest of the details!

Lanes 1 & 2 hosted the first and perhaps most stunning sweep of the evening, when Just Shitty Enough shat just a wee bit too much and wound up flushed by Glory Bowl. Nick Kinney led Shitty with a below-average 552 series, but even if he'd hit his average it may not have mattered thanks to trifecta-winner (#1 Head-to-Head, #1 Power-Ranked, and Most Valuable Bowler) Nicholas Knight. His commanding 508 series made Glory Bowl unstoppable. Just Shitty Enough drops 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while the G-Holers move up 1 spot to 1st.

On lanes 3 & 4: A heated battle saw I Thought This Was AA? lead a surprising sweep over Balderdash, with one game decided by a single pin. Demonstrating the rare prowess of Scott Murdock with his 456 series, the bowlaholics landed a clean sweep over Bald Boys. Countering this, Matthew Taylor with his 576 series reigned supreme within Bald Boys despite his team getting swept. I Thought This Was AA? leaps 2 spots in the standings to 3rd place, while Bald Boys plunge 2 spots to 5th.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: A father-son sub duo stepped in to fill a pair of voids in Let's Split Up Gang!, who enjoyed near-sweep overSun Dolphins. Reinforced by James Tott with his 486 series, once handicps were figured the splitter-uppers missed a clean sweep over Dolphins by just one pin thanks to a game 1 tie. For the Dolphins, Ryan Sisco with his better-than-normal 390 series was pod leader as his team missed getting swept by just one pin. Let's Split Up Gang! remains in 4th place, while Dolphins remain in 6th.

Bowlers who collected mardis gras beads on their way to The 200 Club include: Matthew Taylor (206), Nicholas Knight (210), and Nick Kinney (234)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Nicholas Knight (210, previous best 194). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Nicholas Knight (508, previous best 495).

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1 (though John Boren came closest), while nobody claimed victory in Division 2 (though Brett Affolter came closest). Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Scott Murdock came closest), and Nicholas Knight decimated Division 4. In terms of overall points: Matthew Taylor leads Division 1; Brett Affolter is in the driver's seat in Division 2; Nathan Burrows tops Division 3; and Jim Koger and Nicholas Knight run the show in Division 4 in a tie.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 5th-place Balderdash will battle 6th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 144). Bald Boys are expected to maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Dolphins are forecast to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 4th-place Let's Split Up Gang! will match wits with 1st-place Glory Bowl. The splitter-uppers might perform well and win the series; while the G-Holers ought to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 2nd-place Just Shitty Enough will challenge 3rd-place I Thought This Was AA? (hcp 126). Just Shitty is predicted to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while the bowlaholics are anticipated to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)

Jesus Christ, after hearing an incorrect form of his name used repeatedly by members of Balderdash and Just Shitty Enough.
