Witness Intimidation

Posted by ScooterJ April 3, 2018 Spring 2018, Week 10 View Score Sheets

The tenth week of Spring 2018 saw one team climb in the standings, while one team slipped, and one bowler set a new personal best series. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (169) and series (462) for the women. As for the men, Kody Karnes and Nick Kinney both tied for this week's high game with a 245, and high series was earned by Kody Karnes with a 678. Read on for all the rest of the details!

FIRST, A NOTICE: WE ARE A MONTH AWAY FROM THE PAYMENT DEADLINE, and several of you are very far behind. Fee statements will be provided in next week's envelopes.

No caption necessary.

First up, on lanes 3 & 4: In a rather lopsided matchup, the stinking refuse washed up from the Splitbowl Countries landed on the shores of The United Chumps of PBR Me, ASAP. Strengthened by Matthew Taylor with his below-average 575 series (though credit is also due to game 3 rallies by Ben and Russell), Splitbowl turned around their recent slump to collect 3 wins against PBR. On the other half of the score sheet, Jeremy Varnell with his best-ever 489 series emboldened PBR despite his team notching only a single win. Splitbowl Countries remains in 2nd place, while PBR remains in 4th.

On lanes 5 & 6: In a pairing of teams of similar strength, WITNESS!!! figured they'd continue extending their hold on first place in after making quick work of HOF Sandwich. However, while reinforced by Nick Kinney with his above-average 564 series, Witness!!! accomplished only 1 win against the Sandwich. This is because they didn't count on the #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head antics of Kody Karnes and his better-than-normal 678 series. Kody laid down the law for the Sandwich as his team took the match with 3 wins. WITNESS!!! remains in 1st place, but their lead has dropped back below 4 games. Meanwhile, the Sandwich remains in 3rd.

Jeremy's ball bag contains ball sweat older than some of the people in this league.

On lanes 7 & 8: Mary Janes Last Frame entered a showdown to the death with Holy Sandbaggers, Batman!. Propelled by the skills of Most Valuable Bowler Michael Mead and his above-average 622 series, Mary Jane split the series with the Sandbaggers. They had expected to take three wins, but between Aubrey Moren's 579 series and birthday boy Phil Schroeder's 225 in game 2, the Sandbaggers were able to match their opponent in wins. Mary Janes Last Frame remains in 5th place, while the Sandbaggers remain in 6th.

Finally, down on lanes 9 & 10: Three Strikes and a Spare had a long, slow bowling session with Sit Down, Be Humbowl. With extra motivation generated by sub Neil Hufford and his above-average 517 series, Three Strikes celebrated a clean sweep over Humbowl. Moving on to the challengers, Brian Byfield with his bone-chilling 498 series shone in Humbowl despite his team getting swept. Pushing through lane malfunctions and needing to press the reset button far too many times (the mechanic has been notified, by the way), Three Strikes and a Spare climbs 1 spot in the standings to 7th place, while Humbowl slips 1 spot to 8th.

Bowlers getting the VIP treatment in The 200 Club include: Aubrey Moren (234), Bob Brunker (216,203), Kody Karnes (233,245,200), Matthew Taylor (202,201), Michael Mead (207,206,209), Nick Kinney (245), Phil Schroeder (225), and Seth Gunderson (216)

A new personal best series was rolled tonight by Jeremy Varnell (489, previous best 479).

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Aubrey Moren rolled his ass to the top of Division 1, while Bob Brunker conquered Division 2. Freda Schroeder had her way with Division 3, and Jeremy Varnell made quick work of Division 4. In terms of overall points: Aubrey Moren reigns over Division 1; Scott Murdock tops Division 2; Freda Schroeder runs the show in Division 3; and Emily Nicolet governs Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 3&4, 6th-place Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! (hcp 58) will compete against 3rd-place HOF Sandwich. The Sandbaggers are expected to roll a little low, but split the series with the Sandwich; while the Sandwich is forecast to drop their average a bit while they keep the series tied.
  • Moving to lanes 5&6, 2nd-place Splitbowl Countries will share a couple of pitchers with 7th-place Three Strikes and a Spare (hcp 150). Splitbowl might roll a little low, yet still manage to win the series; while Three Strikes ought to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
  • Then, over on lanes 7&8, 1st-place WITNESS!!! will challenge 8th-place Sit Down, Be Humbowl (hcp 104). Witness!!! will likely have a bit of an off night, but split the series with Humbowl; while Humbowl will probably hold steady as they keep the series tied.
  • Finally, on lanes 9&10, 5th-place Mary Janes Last Frame will spend some quality time with 4th-place PBR Me, ASAP (hcp 155). Mary Jane is predicted to roll a little low, yet still manage to sweep the series; while PBR is anticipated to hold steady as they endure a rough night.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
