Posted by ScooterJ February 10, 2023 Spring 2023, Week 3 View Score Sheets

The third week of Spring 2023 saw all sorts of technical difficulties as both an unavoidable server update and wifi crash decided to happen on the same night. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (148) and series (387) for the woman. As for the men, Scott Thompson snagged this week's high game with a 244, and high series was earned by John Boren with a 541. And the Tournament of Champions divisions are now set, ready for one-on-one action to begin next week! Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: On the lanes that suffered the most with technical issues, Balderdash and Just Shitty Enough pushed through the best they could and I really appreciate them seamlessly adapting to paper scoring while I worked to fix their ipad. Despite the strength of Dennis Walling with his below-average 519 series, Bald Boys accomplished only 1 win against Just Shitty. Countering this, John Boren with his 541 series oversaw Just Shitty as his team took the match with 3 wins. Balderdash drops 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Just Shitty moves up 1 spot to 1st.

week3On lanes 3 & 4: Sun Dolphins had a rendezvous with Glory Bowl. Though featuring Scott Thompson with his above-average 463 series, Dolphins accomplished only 1 win against the G-Holers. Brett Affolter with his better-than-normal 538 series drew the spotlight of the G-Holers (along with kudos to #1 Power-Ranked and Most Valuable Bowler Nicholas Knight) as his team took the match with 3 wins. Sun Dolphins remains in 6th place, while the G-Holers remain in 3rd.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: A well-matched pair of rivals gathered as I Thought This Was AA? took turns kicking the ball return with Let's Split Up Gang!. In spite of top-billing by #1 Head-to-Head AJ Hofmann and his above-average 478 series, the bowlaholics accomplished only 1 win against the splitter-uppers. On the flipside, Aaron Barber with his 522 series took the lead among the splitter-uppers as his team took the match with 3 wins. I Thought This Was AA? remains in 5th place, while the splitter-uppers remain in 4th.

Bowlers using fake IDs at The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (203), Brett Affolter (212), John Boren (213), and Scott Thompson (244)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Scott Thompson (244, previous best 190). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Nathan Burrows (466, previous best 460) and JC Cox (367, previous best 344).

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 6th-place Sun Dolphins (hcp 31) will share a couple of pitchers with 5th-place I Thought This Was AA?. Dolphins are expected to roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the bowlaholics are forecast to drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 4th-place Let's Split Up Gang! (hcp 109) will test their mettle against 1st-place Just Shitty Enough. The splitter-uppers might roll a little low and get swept; while Just Shitty ought to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 2nd-place Balderdash will battle 3rd-place Glory Bowl (hcp 102). Bald Boys are predicted to have the bottom drop out of their averages as they get swept; while the G-Holers are anticipated to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
