Leap Frog!

Posted by BowlingBot March 15, 2022 Spring 2022, Week 8 View Score Sheets

This past Tuesday featured two matchups that went exactly the opposite of what any reasonable person would expect, allowing a (halfway) different pairing of teams to leapfrog up the standings. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (164) and series (425) for the women. As for the men, Matthew Taylor snagged this week's high game with a 242, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 609. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Going, Going, BALD! should have easily crushed The Wally McWallingtons. But thanks to their overwhelming fear of lanes 1 & 2, the star power of Matthew Taylor with his below-average 530 series could not keep Baldness from instead getting swept by The McWallingtons. Over on the other side, Scott Murdock with his 502 series showed off for The McWallingtons as they swept the competition. Going, Going, BALD! drops 1 spot in the standings to 3rd place, while The McWallingtons, expected to sink to dead last today, instead moved up 1 spot to 4th.

On lanes 3 & 4: Glory Bowl deliberately ate cheese sticks in front of Flamboyant Fluffykins. Emboldened by #1 Power-Ranked Nicholas Knight and his downright ridiculous 495 series, Glory achieved a clean sweep over Flamboyant. Concurrently, Nathan Burrows with his slightly-off 382 series mastered Flamboyant despite his team getting swept. In a STUNNING development, Glory Bowl leaps 2 spots in the standings to 1st place, while Flamboyant sinks 1 spot to 5th.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: With the scales heavily tipped in one team's favor from the outset, the oppressive ChuckaScoot made use of voodoo dolls resembling each member of the endearing Splits & Giggles. Unfortunately for Chuck, those dolls were efective. While headlined by Carl Goetz with his above-average 609 series, Scoot Chuckers accomplished only 1 win against Giggles. Meanwhile JoAnne Barber with her better-than-normal 425 series ruled Giggles (along with a major contribution by #1 Head-to-Head and Most Valuable Bowler Emily Nicolet) as her team took the match with 3 wins. ChuckaScoot drops 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Giggles remain in 6th.

Bowlers who crashed the party at The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (240) and Matthew Taylor (242)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Nicholas Knight (187, previous best 178). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Emily Nicolet (407, previous best 406) and Nicholas Knight (495, previous best 445).

Adding to the excitement, the 164 rolled by JoAnne Barber is this season's new high game among women.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Scott Murdock cleaned up Division 1, while Aaron Barber decimated Division 2. JoAnne Barber mopped up Division 3, and Emily Nicolet dominated Division 4. In terms of overall points: Matthew Taylor calls the shots Division 1; Aaron Barber runs the show in Division 2; JoAnne Barber reigns over Division 3; and Emily Nicolet leads Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 2nd-place ChuckaScoot will socialize with 5th-place Flamboyant Fluffykins (hcp 174). Scoot Chuckers are expected to roll a little low, yet still manage to win the series; while Flamboyant is forecast to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 6th-place Splits & Giggles (hcp 41) will compete against 4th-place The Wally McWallingtons. Giggles might roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while The McWallingtons ought to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 1st-place Glory Bowl (hcp 92) will test their mettle against 3rd-place Going, Going, BALD!. Glory is predicted to maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Baldness are anticipated to raise their average while they rack up a sweep.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
