Who’s On First?

Posted by ScooterJ September 27, 2017 Fall 2017, Week 6 View Score Sheets

While Mustache Cash Stash technically remains in first place by total pins, there are three teams tied for first place and a total of 5 teams that are within a game of first place. To have so many teams so close together at the top of the standings by week 6 is absolutely unprecedented in the history of our league. No, that's not hyperbole, I went through the week 6 standings of every past season and there has never been such a massive tie before by this point in the season.

Due to last night's server crash that delayed the updating the web site, we're going to go with the computer-generated writeup for the remainder of this post. At least that should mean fewer typos! :)

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Mustache Cash Stash did battle with Roll, Drink, Repeat. Led by Michael Mead and his 521 series, Mustache Cash Stash split the series with Roll, Drink, Repeat. Meanwhile, led by Sean Miller and his 476 series, Roll, Drink, Repeat ended in a stalemate. Mustache Cash Stash remains in 1st place, while Roll, Drink, Repeat remains in 10th.

Based on someone's horrible handwriting, this person apparently scored LSD in game 2. That's all I can make of this scratch. (Subtracting from the series totals, apparently this scrawl somehow represents 159?)

On lanes 3 & 4: Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! took turns kicking the ball return with NotContra. Led by Most Valuable Bowler Dennis Laube and his 512 series, Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! secured 3 wins against NotContra. Meanwhile, led by Aaron Barber and his 541 series, NotContra could only secure 1 win. Holy Sandbaggers, Batman! climbs 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while NotContra sinks 2 spots to 4th.

On lanes 5 & 6: Bowl Yer Ballz Off sat down for crumpets and tea with Brooklyn Strikers. Led by Rob Kaszuba and his 491 series, Bowl Yer Ballz Off split the series with Brooklyn Strikers. Meanwhile, led by Conrad Bonney and his 425 series, Brooklyn Strikers ended in a stalemate. Bowl Yer Ballz Off remains in 6th place, while Brooklyn Strikers remains in 7th.

On lanes 7 & 8: Split It & Hit It had a delightful time with The Alt-Left. Led by #1 Power-Ranked Bowler Mark DeVoe and his 487 series, Split It & Hit It managed only 1 win against The Alt-Left. Meanwhile, led by Lefty Ian Goetz and his 450 series, The Alt-Left secured 3 wins. Split It & Hit It remains in 8th place, while The Alt-Left moves up 1 spot to 3rd.

If you wandered off leaving behind a full house: Queens over Sabrinas, Scoot has your cash.

Finally, down on lanes 9 & 10: JG's Rusty Nuts couldn't stop undressing with their eyes the members of Less Terra Bowl. Led by Jeremy Varnell and his 426 series, JG's Rusty Nuts managed only 1 win against Less Terra Bowl. Meanwhile, led by Jason Carpio and his 486 series, Less Terra Bowl secured 3 wins. JG's Rusty Nuts remains in 9th place, while Less Terra Bowl remains in 5th.

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 1 as it was a complete embarassment, while Sean Miller swept Division 2. Alison Radke creamed Division 3, and Jeremy Varnell had his way with Division 4. Finally, Phil Schroeder (Division 2) topped this week's Interdivisional bracket. In terms of overall points: Aaron Barber dominates Division 1; AJ Hofmann is in the driver's seat in Division 2; Freda Schroeder reigns over Division 3; and Conrad Bonney calls the shots Division 4.

Bowlers entering The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (224) and Michael Mead (222)

  FROM THE GUTTER (GUTTER QUOTE)
"Do you think tonight's write-up will mention that I rolled 71 pins below average? Hold on, I need to go make a phone call."

Michael Mead, mysteriously dashing outside with only one shoe on minutes before the gutteralley.com server "crashed" last night.
