Spring 2003 Week 8 Robo-RecapThe Spring 2003 position round is now history, and and the championship will be on us before we know it! The eighth week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (177) and series (482) for the women. As for the men, Carl Goetz and Pat Searcy both tied for this week's high game with a 223, and high series was earned by Carl Goetz with a 611. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 17 & 18: D-Day took turns kicking the ball return with Top Guns. In spite of top-billing by Ken M. Wilson with his 518 series, with a nod to #1 Power-Ranked Scott Murdock, D-Day accomplished only 1 win against Top Guns. In the midst of this, #1 Head-to-Head Pat Searcy commanded Top Guns with his above-average 599 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Phil Schroeder) as his team took the series with 3 wins. D-Day plummets 2 spots in the standings to 3rd place, while Top Guns remain in 2nd.

week8On lanes 19 & 20: Bowlers of Mass Destruction traded lane malfunctions with The Good Sons. Featuring Corey Weinfurt with his above-average 522 series, Mass Destruction celebrated a clean sweep over the Sons. As for the opposition, Michelle Tollefson called the shots for the Sons with her above-average 394 despite her team getting swept. Bowlers of Mass Destruction leaps 2 spots in the standings to 1st place, while the Sons sink 1 spot to 5th.

On lanes 21 & 22: When Push Comes To Shove couldn't stop undressing with their eyes the members of Canned Crabs. Showcasing David Codding with his 568 series, the Shovers collected 3 wins against the Crabs. On the flipside, Eric Lynch shined in the Crabs with his 506 despite his team notching only a single win. When Push Comes To Shove leaps 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while the Crabs sink 1 spot to 7th.

Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: Hulk Smash! spent some quality time with Spanked. Blessed by Carl Goetz with his above-average 611 series, the Hulk collected 3 wins against Spanked. On the other half of the score sheet, Thomas Lin mastered Spanked with his 499 despite his team notching only a single win. Hulk Smash! leaps 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while Spanked remains in 8th.

Bowlers entering The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (223,214), Pat Searcy (207,223), and Thomas Lin (205)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Shannon Myers (157, previous best 155). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Scott Murdock (479, previous best 474).

The 611 rolled by Carl Goetz is tied for the 4th-best series in league history!

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Pat Searcy made quick work of Division 1, while Ken M. Wilson mopped up Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Phil Schroeder came closest), and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Marca Robinson came closest). In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz and Pat Searcy reign over Division 1 in a tie; Ken M. Wilson calls the shots Division 2; Phil Schroeder governs Division 3; and Marca Robinson is in the driver's seat in Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:
  • First, on lanes 17&18, 8th-place Spanked will meet with 5th-place The Good Sons (hcp 104). Spanked is expected to maintain their current strength as they just barely miss sweeping the series; while the Sons are forecast to hold steady as they just barely avoid getting swept.
  • Moving to lanes 19&20, 6th-place Hulk Smash! (hcp 50) will battle 1st-place Bowlers of Mass Destruction. The Hulk might maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Mass Destruction ought to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Then, over on lanes 21&22, 4th-place When Push Comes To Shove will challenge 7th-place Canned Crabs (hcp 135). The Shovers will likely maintain their current strength as they win the series; while the Crabs will probably hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
  • Finally, on lanes 23&24, 3rd-place D-Day (hcp 32) will hang out with 2nd-place Top Guns. D-Day is predicted to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Top Guns are anticipated to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)

Spring 2003, Week 5

Posted by BowlingBot On February - 4 - 2003ADD COMMENTS

Spring 2003 Week 5 Robo-RecapThe fifth week of Spring 2003 saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. Three bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Janelle (Laube) Lamar landed this week's high game for the women with a 174, and women's high series was bagged by Freda Schroeder with a 471. As for the men, Pat Searcy snagged this week's high game with a 222, and high series was earned by Bob Brunker with a 616. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 17 & 18: Hulk Smash! had a rendezvous with D-Day. Regardless of the star power of Carl Goetz with his 538 series, the Hulk accomplished only 1 win against D-Day. While that was going down, Ken M. Wilson called the shots for D-Day with his above-average 529 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Nik Domann) as his team took the series with 3 wins. Hulk Smash! drops 1 spot in the standings to 5th place, while D-Day sinks 1 spot to 3rd.

Brian Byfield's cross-lanes incident tonight might not have been quite this cool, but it was still impressive. On lanes 19 & 20: Canned Crabs alternated splits with The Good Sons. Though featuring Eric Lynch with his (either injured, sick, or sandbagging) 442 series, the Crabs accomplished only 1 win against the Sons. As for the opposition, Steve Robinson oversaw the Sons with his 405 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Canned Crabs leap 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while the Sons move 1 spot to 4th.

On lanes 21 & 22: When Push Comes To Shove traded lane malfunctions with Bowlers of Mass Destruction. Despite the strength of David Codding with his 523 series, the Shovers got swept by Mass Destruction. In the meantime, #1 Power-Ranked Corey Weinfurt shined in Mass Destruction with his miraculous 590 (along with props to #1 Power-Ranked and Most Valuable Bowler Nik Domann) as they swept the competition. When Push Comes To Shove drops 1 spot in the standings to 7th place, while Mass Destruction moves 1 spot to 2nd.

Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: Spanked shared a platter of cheese sticks with Top Guns. In spite of top-billing by Bill Krejci with his above-average 522 series, Spanked got swept by Top Guns. Across the ball return, Bob Brunker reigned supreme in Top Guns with his stupendous 616 as they swept the competition. Spanked remains in 8th place, while Top Guns remain in 1st.

Bowlers sneaking into The 200 Club include: Bob Brunker (204,215), Corey Weinfurt (219,211), David Codding (204), Ken M. Wilson (212), and Pat Searcy (222)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Corey Weinfurt (219, previous best 201). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Bob Brunker (616, previous best 596), Jason Carpio (538, previous best 501), and Corey Weinfurt (590, previous best 528).

The 616 rolled by Bob Brunker is tied for the 3rd-best series in league history!

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Bill Krejci topped Division 1, while Nik Domann walloped Division 2. Jason Carpio triumphed over his enemies in Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about Division 4 as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Bob Brunker runs the show in Division 1; Nik Domann and Eric Lynch dominate Division 2 in a tie; Jason Carpio and Phil Schroeder are both in the driver's seat (on each other's laps?) in Division 3 in a tie; and Tracey Robertson governs Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:
  • First, on lanes 17&18, 1st-place Top Guns will spend some quality time with 7th-place When Push Comes To Shove (hcp 11). Top Guns are expected to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while the Shovers are forecast to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
  • Moving to lanes 19&20, 2nd-place Bowlers of Mass Destruction (hcp 12) will roll against 8th-place Spanked. Mass Destruction might perform well and sweep the series; while Spanked ought to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
  • Then, over on lanes 21&22, 6th-place Canned Crabs (hcp 98) will chuck some balls with 3rd-place D-Day. The Crabs will likely maintain their current strength as they get swept; while D-Day will probably hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
  • Finally, on lanes 23&24, 4th-place The Good Sons (hcp 70) will tussle with 5th-place Hulk Smash!. The Sons are predicted to perform well and win the series; while the Hulk is anticipated to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
