Aaron Barber was the thirteenth bowler inducted into the GutterAlley Hall of Fame, voted in during the Fall 2022 season. His fellow inductees were AJ Hofmann and Dennis Walling.
Aaron first joined the GutterAlley Bowling League as a one-off sub in the Spring 2014 season, and as of the time of this writing has participated in every season since. With his career as a regular bowler possibly coming to an end after the Spring 2025 season due to work obligations, as of this update he has rolled 855 games across 23 seasons.
His all-time high scratch game is 286 (tied for 5th best) and his best scratch series is 712. He has been Most Valuable Bowler 9 times, won 8 championships, and has been winner or runner-up of numerous People's Choice Most Valuable Bowler and Defensive Bowler awards.
Aaron's contributions to the league go beyond skill. His sense of humor and his personality make him a joy to bowl both alongside and against, and he has made a number of suggestions to improve the league that have been incorporated into our style of play. And in 2021 when AMF shut down, Aaron organized a small summer league at Gladstone Bowl that kept us going and interested long enough to find a new permanent home.
Aaron's greatest contribution to the league has been his ability to recruit new members. He has more than once fielded entire teams, and is directly or indirectly responsible for more new bowlers than anyone else in league history -- and that even includes the 15 people recruited by the league's founder! While in recent years Dennis Walling has taken over as the league's top recruiter, it was Aaron who recruited Dennis so everybody who was brought in by Dennis ultimately owes their participation to Aaron. It is likely that half or more o the current league members are currently here because of Aaron.
It is with great pleasure that the GutterAlley Hall of Fame opens its doors to Aaron Barber.
