Spring 2003 Week 14 Robo-RecapThe fourteenth week of Spring 2003 saw two teams climb in the standings, while two teams slipped. Three bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (199) and series (531) for the women, while Carl Goetz earned this week's high game (260) and series (706) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 17 & 18: Canned Crabs spent some quality time with D-Day. Although blessed by Eric Lynch with his (either injured, sick, or sandbagging) 393 series, the Crabs got swept by D-Day. Countering this, Ken M. Wilson showed off in D-Day with his 506 as they swept the competition. Canned Crabs plummet 2 spots in the standings to 8th place, while D-Day remains in 2nd.

An irritated Kody waits for Russell to bowl.On lanes 19 & 20: The Good Sons kept stealing sips of beer from Hulk Smash!. Though featuring Steve Robinson with his above-average 474 series, the Sons accomplished only 1 win against the Hulk. On the other half of the score sheet, trifecta-winner (#1 Head-to-Head, #1 Power-Ranked, and Most Valuable Bowler) Carl Goetz dominated the Hulk with his staggering 706 as his team took the series with 3 wins. The Good Sons remains in 5th place, while the Hulk jumps 2 spots to 6th.

On lanes 21 & 22: Bowlers of Mass Destruction kept grabbing the balls of Spanked. Demonstrating the prowess of Corey Weinfurt with his above-average 545 series, Mass Destruction collected 3 wins against Spanked. On the adjacent lane, Janelle (Laube) Lamar guided Spanked with her fantastic 501 despite her team notching only a single win. Bowlers of Mass Destruction remains in 1st place, while Spanked remains in 7th.

Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: Top Guns traded lane malfunctions with When Push Comes To Shove. Showcasing Pat Searcy with his 559 series, Top Guns celebrated a clean sweep over the Shovers. Concurrently, David Codding took the lead in the Shovers with his below-average 492 despite his team getting swept. Top Guns leap 1 spot in the standings to 3rd place, while the Shovers sink 1 spot to 4th.

Bowlers getting the VIP treatment in The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (256,260), Corey Weinfurt (206), and Pat Searcy (223)

A new personal high game was set tonight by Carl Goetz (260, previous best 233). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Carl Goetz (706, previous best 611), Janelle (Laube) Lamar (501, previous best 496), and Justin Strelow (528, previous best 501).

Freda Schroeder claimed the season's women's high series with her 531. In addition, Carl Goetz nabbed both high game and series for the men this season with his 260 and 706, respectively.

CARL GOETZ SET THE NEW ALL-TIME HIGH GAME WITH HIS 260! CONGRATULATIONS!
The 531 rolled by Freda Schroeder is the new 5th-best women's series in league history!

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Pat Searcy topped Division 1, while Freda Schroeder creamed Division 2. Phil Schroeder trounced Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Scott Murdock came closest). In terms of overall points: Pat Searcy reigns over Division 1; Ken M. Wilson tops Division 2; Steve Robinson and Phil Schroeder call the shots in Division 3 in a tie; and Marca Robinson and Tracey Robertson are both in the driver's seat (on each other's laps?) in Division 4 in a tie.

NEXT WEEK:
  • First, on lanes 17&18, 1st-place Bowlers of Mass Destruction (hcp 28) will match wits with 3rd-place Top Guns. Mass Destruction is expected to perform well, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Top Guns are forecast to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
  • Moving to lanes 19&20, 4th-place When Push Comes To Shove will compete against 7th-place Spanked (hcp 12). The Shovers might maintain their current strength as they and split the series with Spanked; while Spanked ought to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
  • Then, over on lanes 21&22, 5th-place The Good Sons (hcp 96) will meet with 2nd-place D-Day. The Sons will likely roll decently, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while D-Day will probably hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Finally, on lanes 23&24, 8th-place Canned Crabs (hcp 56) will face 6th-place Hulk Smash!. The Crabs are predicted to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while the Hulk is anticipated to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
