The sixth week of Spring 2026 came roaring down the lanes with the subtlety of a bowling ball launched from a trebuchet. Three matches were contested and — astonishingly — all three ended in clean sweeps. That’s right, not one, not two, but three full broom jobs across the house. I’m Alotta Tenpin, your sideline reporter for the evening, delivering the action with notebook in hand and enthusiasm set somewhere between “sports broadcast” and “roller coaster operator.”
The standings took a little shuffle as two teams climbed while two slid down the ladder. Lindsay Sargent blasted this week’s women’s high game with a personal-best 145, while JoAnne Barber collected the women’s high series with a tidy 369. On the men’s side, Ian Estey dominated the stat sheet with both the high game (213) and the high series (595), racking up his 20th career 200+ game in the process. There were milestones everywhere — Nick Kinney crossed the colossal 90,000 career pin plateau and Jim Koger cruised past 30,000. Folks, it was the kind of night where pins fell like dramatic plot twists in a soap opera. Read on for all the details — and when you're done, be sure to see this week's bingo results.

Hot-n-Ready®
The pizza-powered bowlers of Hot-n-Ready® came out sizzling and served up the first clean sweep of the evening, winning all three games and the series with the confidence of a team that clearly preheated the oven. The attack was led by the bespectacled strike technician Ian Estey, whose spectacular 595 series included games of 212 and 213 — the night’s highest numbers — while also marking his 20th career 200+ game. Supporting the offensive feast was the always-smiling Buck Nasty, rolling with the kind of jovial grin that makes you think he just heard the punchline before anyone else. Buck blasted a 200 that was an outrageous 54 pins over his average, the biggest over-average performance of the night. No wonder he earned the trifecta: #1 Power-Ranked, #1 Head-to-Head, and Most Valuable Bowler. Seth Gunderson saved his fireworks for the finale with a clutch 212 after two slow starts, while Nick Kinney quietly contributed a steady series and crossed the gigantic milestone of 90,000 career pins, now sitting at 90,283. “When Ian started throwing 200s I knew our pizza was ready and damn tasty,” Buck laughed afterward. The Ready® squad left the lanes absolutely buzzing as they climbed into first place.

Squid Row
For the nautical crew of Squid Row, the night unfolded like an underwater tragedy. As they dropped each game, the squid-shirted squad watched their hopes drift away like an untethered leaky rowboat in choppy waters. The towering Ben Spencer was the bright spot, posting a strong 528 series highlighted by a 189 game that stood as the team’s best effort of the night. Spencer is impossible to miss — with the kind of lanky stride that looks like he could walk across two lanes in a single step. Chris Windham struggled far below his average with a 408 series, while Dennis Walling opened strong with a sharp 187 before the tide turned against the team. Matthew Taylor rolled a steady 178, 173, and 175, yet the scoreboard stubbornly refused to cooperate. And as regular readers know, Taylor has a theory when things go wrong on lanes 1 and 2. “Those lanes are different,” he insisted afterward, gesturing at the approach like a man presenting evidence in court. “The oil pattern is suspicious. The pins are defective. And the floorboards themselves voted for Trump.” Whether inept marine life or screwy physics is responsible remains unconfirmed, but the Squids slipped one spot in the standings to second place and left looking understandably devastated.

The Queenpins
Royal bowling authority was firmly established on lanes 3 and 4 as The Queenpins captured the evening’s second clean sweep. Leading the charge was Jon Little, who debuted a noticeably shorter haircut — goodbye flowing locks, hello aerodynamic efficiency — and promptly rolled a dazzling personal-best 193 in Game 1 on his way to a strong 497 series. Lindsay Sargent delivered the night’s best women’s game with a brilliant personal-best 145 in Game 3 after starting the night modestly with games of 93 and 97, a late surge that helped slam the door on the sweep. Ryan Sisco battled through a tough night below his average, but the Queenpins still locked up every game. “The haircut adds at least ten pins,” Jon Little joked afterward. The team celebrated enthusiastically despite the odd twist that the standings shuffle still dropped them one spot to fourth place.

Walk Offs
The Walk Offs experienced a night that felt like a baseball team striking out with the bases loaded in the ninth inning. Defeated in every game, they left the lanes visibly crushed. Chris Hagan led the effort with a 393 series and the team’s top game of 153, bouncing back nicely after a slow start. Hagan, with his blonde hair and athletic build, looks like someone who could sell sports drinks during halftime commercials, and frankly I would buy two. Carl Mueller rolled a respectable 330 series while representing the legal profession in his mysterious “Jungle Law” t-shirt, while Brian Schaben and Kurt Fredrickson struggled below their averages as the scoreboard slowly sealed their fate. “I think gravity was stronger tonight,” Schaben said afterward in one of the evening’s more philosophical interviews. The Walk Offs remain in fifth place, though their humor and resilience remain championship caliber.

3 Pins and a Gutter
For 3 Pins and a Gutter, the evening played out like a dramatic tragedy in three acts, each act involving the opposing team knocking down more pins. The team was left looking like they’d just watched the final episode of a beloved TV series get canceled mid-season. Sporting his trademark suspenders, Nathan Burrows led the team with a 390 series despite it coming in below his average, and his 151 opener stood as the team’s best game of the night. Burrows surprised the crowd by not wearing his famous cosmic kittens shirt — a development I personally believe may have angered the bowling gods. Jesse Sauerbrei battled through an uneven night while Jeremy Varnell contributed a 334 series despite missing one game. JoAnne Barber delivered the bright spot of the evening with the women’s high series of the week at 369. “Maybe the kittens should come back next week,” Nathan Burrows admitted afterward. Despite the tough sweep, the team remains in sixth place but vowed to regroup.

Thots & Spares
The pun-loving powerhouse Thots & Spares completed the night’s trilogy of sweeps with a confident victory over their opponents. AJ Hofmann led the charge with an impressively steady 513 series — games of 170, 171, and 172 — the kind of consistency that bowling analysts refer to as “statistical elegance,” which I am almost certain is a real term. Hofmann, returning to the lanes after medical leave to get cybernetic implants, looked like a man who studies oil patterns the way meteorologists study hurricanes. Scott Murdock contributed the team’s high game with a booming 189 during his 474 series before deciding to sit back and relax for the third game, while Tim Deddens soared well above his average with a strong 452 series including a 166 opener. Jim Koger added a steady 365 and quietly surpassed the massive milestone of 30,000 career pins, now sitting at 30,307. “Thirty thousand pins and a sweep? That’s efficient bowling,” Koger said afterward. The Thots left the lanes absolutely thrilled as they climbed into third place.
Three matches. Three sweeps. A night where the brooms were busy and the standings shuffled like a deck of cards. Hot-n-Ready® surged into first place, Squid Row slipped to second, Thots & Spares climbed to third, and the rest of the league is already plotting revenge for next week.
From the sidelines, I’m Alotta Tenpin reminding you that bowling is a game of precision, strategy, and occasionally blaming the lane oil when all else fails.
Bowlers bribing their way into The 200 Club include: Buck Nasty (200), Ian Estey (212,213), and Seth Gunderson (212)
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: AJ Hofmann had his way with Division 1, while Buck Nasty dominated Division 2. Tim Deddens topped Division 3, and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Carl Mueller came closest). In terms of overall points: Ian Estey is in the driver's seat in Division 1; Scott Murdock leads Division 2; Tim Deddens holds the reins in Division 3; and Jeremy Varnell tops Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 1&2, 5th-place Walk Offs (hcp 102) will roll against 3rd-place Thots & Spares. Walkers are expected to maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Thots are forecast to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Moving to lanes 3&4, 6th-place 3 Pins and a Gutter (hcp 163) will chuck some balls with 2nd-place Squid Row. Gutterly Pinned might maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Squids ought to raise their average while they rack up a sweep.
- Finally, on lanes 5&6, 1st-place Hot-n-Ready® will chill with 4th-place The Queenpins (hcp 84). The Ready® is predicted to maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Queenpins are anticipated to drop their average a bit while they endure a rough night.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
