Fall 2008 Week 9 Robo-RecapBy now every team has bowled each other once, so next week is the Fall 2008 position round. But enough about next week, you came here to read about this week. The ninth week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. Freda Schroeder picked up this week's high game (188) and series (461) for the women, while Cory Chorpenning earned this week's high game (254) and series (681) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 19 & 20: WWJB alternated splits with Bowl Movement. Although topped by Eric Summers with his 334 series, WWJB got swept by Bowl Movement. In the meantime, Patty Morrisey took the lead in Bowl Movement with her above-average 366 as they swept the competition. WWJB drops 1 spot in the standings to 10th place, while Bowl Movement jumps 2 spots to 4th.

This was done rather often this week by people we wouldn't normally expect. On lanes 21 & 22: Ain't No Sh!t kept stealing sips of beer from Livin' On A Spare. Showcasing Cory Chorpenning with his above-average 681 series, Ain't No Sh!t celebrated a clean sweep over Livin' On A Spare. Concurrently, Lindsay Jamis ruled Livin' On A Spare with her staggering 401 despite her team getting swept. Ain't No Sh!t remains in 1st place, while Livin' On A Spare sinks 1 spot to 8th.

On lanes 23 & 24: Dave and the Wingers had a rendezvous with Spare The Rod, Split The Kitty. Despite being led by Rob Kaszuba with his stunning 508 series, the Wingers accomplished only 1 win against Spare The Rod. Countering this, Will Jeter dominated Spare The Rod with his 476 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Dave and the Wingers leap 1 spot in the standings to 9th place, while Spare The Rod remains in 5th.

On lanes 25 & 26: Bad Newz Kennels faced off against Is This Billable?. In spite of the prowess of #1 Head-to-Head Dennis Laube and his powerful 564 series, the Kennels got swept by Is This Billable?. On the adjacent lane, Ryan Doll oversaw Is This Billable? with his above-average 609 (with a nod to #1 Power-Ranked Ben Wetteborn) as they swept the competition. Bad Newz Kennels plummet 2 spots in the standings to 6th place, while Is This Billable? moves 1 spot to 7th.

Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: Chico's Bail Bonds entered a showdown to the death with Dios Mios. Even though highlighted by the skills of Ken M. Wilson with his astounding 633 series, Chico's accomplished only 1 win against Dios Mios. In the midst of this, Bill Krejci mastered Dios Mios with his 549 (with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Lefty John Boren) as his team took the series with 3 wins. Chico's Bail Bonds remains in 2nd place, while Dios Mios remain in 3rd.

Bowlers paying far too much for well vodka at The 200 Club include: Bill Krejci (223), Cory Chorpenning (230,254), Dennis Laube (211), Duncan Ferber (213,244), Ken M. Wilson (233,226), Kendall Kukowski (201), and Ryan Doll (210,221)

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Nobody claimed victory in Division 1 (though Duncan Ferber came closest), while nobody claimed victory in Division 2 (though Phil Schroeder came closest). Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Tom Finley came closest), and nobody claimed victory in Division 4 (though Dave Winger came closest). Finally, Cory Chorpenning (Division 1) made quick work of this week's Interdivisional bracket. Finally, Dennis Laube (Division 2) made quick work of this week's Interdivisional bracket. Finally, Amanda Cox Jeter (Division 4) made quick work of this week's Interdivisional bracket. In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz reigns over Division 1; Aubrey Moren dominates Division 2; Travis Kleiner holds the reins in Division 3; and Amanda Cox Jeter governs Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 19&20, 1st-place Ain't No Sh!t will battle 2nd-place Chico's Bail Bonds (hcp 89). Ain't No Sh!t is expected to see their averages fall off a cliff as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Chico's are forecast to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Moving to lanes 21&22, 3rd-place Dios Mios will spend some quality time with 4th-place Bowl Movement (hcp 56). Dios Mios might maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Bowl Movement ought to raise their average while they rack up a sweep.
  • Then, over on lanes 23&24, 5th-place Spare The Rod, Split The Kitty (hcp 67) will chuck some balls with 6th-place Bad Newz Kennels. Spare The Rod will likely roll decently, yet still manage to get swept; while the Kennels will probably raise their average while they rack up a sweep.
  • Next up, on lanes 25&26, 7th-place Is This Billable? will face 8th-place Livin' On A Spare (hcp 75). Is This Billable? might maintain their current strength as they and split the series with Livin' On A Spare; while Livin' On A Spare ought to raise their average while they keep the series tied.
  • Finally, on lanes 27&28, 9th-place Dave and the Wingers will throw some gutter balls with 10th-place WWJB (hcp 13). The Wingers are predicted to perform well, but split the series with WWJB; while WWJB is anticipated to raise their average while they keep the series tied.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
