The Spring 2003 season is now underway, with eight teams entering the 16-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy. Four bowlers set a new personal best series, and three rolled new personal high games. Janelle (Laube) Lamar picked up this week's high game (172) and series (496) for the women, while Thomas Lin earned this week's high game (217) and series (593) for the men. First up, on lanes 17 & 18: D-Day waged a heated competition against Top Guns. With top billing by Demond Robinson with his 496 series, with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Nik Domann, D-Day split the series with Top Guns. Across the ball return, Pat Searcy called the shots for Top Guns with his 573 as they matched their opponent in wins. D-Day begins the season in 5th place, while Top Guns get going with 4th.
On lanes 19 & 20: When Push Comes To Shove had some one-on-one time with Canned Crabs. With the strength of Dennis Laube with his 523 series, the Shovers collected 3 wins against the Crabs. Countering this, Eric Lynch drew the spotlight in the Crabs with his 466 despite his team notching only a single win. When Push Comes To Shove gets underway in 2nd place, while the Crabs get rolling in 7th.
On lanes 21 & 22: Spanked entered a showdown to the death with The Good Sons. Topped by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Thomas Lin and his 593 series, Spanked celebrated a clean sweep over the Sons. On the other side, Tracey Robertson took the lead in the Sons with her 344 despite her team getting swept. Spanked begins with 1st place, while the Sons commence the season with 8th.
Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: Hulk Smash! alternated splits with Bowlers of Mass Destruction. Notwithstanding the leadership of Carl Goetz with his 534 series, the Hulk accomplished only 1 win against Mass Destruction. Simultaneously, Jarrod Guthrie mastered Mass Destruction with his exceptional 474 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Hulk Smash! starts out in 6th place, while Mass Destruction starts off with 3rd.
Bowlers who lied to their significant other claiming bowling was running long then went out for after-bowling drinks at The 200 Club include: David Codding (200), Dennis Laube (213), Pat Searcy (204), and Thomas Lin (212,217)
New personal high games were set tonight by Dennis Laube (213, previous best 200), Jason Carpio (191, previous best 178), and Shannon Myers (150, previous best 148). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Janelle (Laube) Lamar (496, previous best 478), Keith Blay (474, previous best 424), Jarrod Guthrie (474, previous best 461), and Shannon Myers (388, previous best 371). The 593 rolled by Thomas Lin is the new 7th-best series in league history!
