We are now halfway through the Spring 2009 season, so time is running out for those teams who want a shot at the championship to position themselves. The eighth week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. One bowler set a new personal best series, and two rolled new personal high games. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (202) and series (528) for the women, while Zach Frank earned this week's high game (213) and series (593) for the men. First up, on lanes 19 & 20: Chico's Bail Bonds deliberately ate cheese sticks in front of Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends. Demonstrating the prowess of David Codding with his 557 series, Chico's missed a clean sweep over Wonder Friends by just one pin.On the adjacent lane, Amanda Zahnweh guided Wonder Friends with her exceptional 406 as her team missed getting swept by just one pin. Chico's Bail Bonds leap 2 spots in the standings to 2nd place, while Wonder Friends remain in 8th.
On lanes 21 & 22: WWJB shared a platter of cheese sticks with No Pinheads. Starring Most Valuable Bowler Rich Foster and his astonishing 417 series, WWJB collected 3 wins against No Pinheads. Meanwhile, Aubrey Moren called the shots for No Pinheads with his 519 despite his team notching only a single win. WWJB leaps 1 spot in the standings to 9th place, while No Pinheads plunge 2 spots to 4th.
On lanes 23 & 24: Turkey Sandwich traded lane malfunctions with XXX. Led by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Zach Frank and his thrilling 593 series, Turkey Sandwich collected 3 wins against XXX. Countering this, Rich DeYoung oversaw XXX with his above-average 517 despite his team notching only a single win. Turkey Sandwich remains in 7th place, while XXX sinks 1 spot to 10th.
On lanes 25 & 26: Sh!t, Another Season celebrated their love of large, heavy balls with Chicks With Balls. Headlined by Duncan Ferber with his above-average 567 series, Another Season collected 3 wins against the Chicks. While that was going down, Janelle (Laube) Lamar ruled the Chicks with her 413 despite her team notching only a single win. Sh!t, Another Season leaps 1 spot in the standings to 5th place, while the Chicks sink 1 spot to 6th.
Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: Rule 6B alternated between bowling and dry humping Schlitz For Us, Splits For You. Showcasing Adam Messner with his spectacular 539 series, Rule 6B split the series with Schlitz. As for the opposition, Angela Bradford commanded Schlitz with her above-average 528 as they matched their opponent in wins. Rule 6B remains in 3rd place, while Schlitz remains in 1st.
Bowlers who lied to their significant other claiming bowling was running long then went out for after-bowling drinks at The 200 Club include: Angela Bradford (202), Cory Chorpenning (204), David Codding (202), Duncan Ferber (201), and Zach Frank (213,203)
New personal high games were set tonight by Adam Messner (195, previous best 189) and Emily Podhajsky (148, previous best 133). In addition, a new personal best series was rolled by Adam Messner (539, previous best 488).
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Duncan Ferber got the better of Division 1, while Rich DeYoung made quick work of Division 2. Adam Messner vanquished Division 3, and Zach Frank claimed victory in Division 4. And, finally, nobody claimed victory in the Interdivisional bracket, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about this bracket as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz tops Division 1; Rich DeYoung and Phil Schroeder hold the reins in Division 2 in a tie; Chris Lewis runs the show in Division 3; and Zach Frank leads Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 19&20, 9th-place WWJB (hcp 28) will test their mettle against 10th-place XXX. WWJB is expected to perform well, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while XXX is forecast to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
- Moving to lanes 21&22, 5th-place Sh!t, Another Season will chill with 1st-place Schlitz For Us, Splits For You (hcp 61). Another Season might roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Schlitz ought to raise their average while they enjoy their victories.
- Then, over on lanes 23&24, 8th-place Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends (hcp 10) will match wits with 6th-place Chicks With Balls. Wonder Friends will likely roll decently and win the series; while the Chicks will probably raise their average even as they avoid getting swept.
- Next up, on lanes 25&26, 4th-place No Pinheads will tussle with 3rd-place Rule 6B (hcp 53). No Pinheads might maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Rule 6B ought to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
- Finally, on lanes 27&28, 2nd-place Chico's Bail Bonds will roll against 7th-place Turkey Sandwich (hcp 118). Chico's are predicted to perform well and sweep the series; while Turkey Sandwich is anticipated to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
