The Spring 2009 position round is now history, and and the championship will be on us before we know it! The tenth week saw two teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. Freda Schroeder landed this week's high game for the women with a 190, and women's high series was bagged by Angela Bradford with a 521. As for the men, Carl Goetz snagged this week's high game with a 244, and high series was earned by Cory Chorpenning with a 638. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 19 & 20: Rule 6B sparred with Chico's Bail Bonds. Topped by #1 Power-Ranked Ryan Doll and his astonishing 573 series, Rule 6B split the series with Chico's. Across the ball return, Most Valuable Bowler Carl Goetz showed off in Chico's with his phenomenal 626 as they matched their opponent in wins. Rule 6B drops 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Chico's sink 1 spot to 3rd.
On lanes 21 & 22: Schlitz For Us, Splits For You had a delightful time with Sh!t, Another Season. Showcasing Bob Brunker with his 529 series, Schlitz celebrated a clean sweep over Another Season. Countering this, Cory Chorpenning ruled Another Season with his above-average 638 despite his team getting swept. Schlitz For Us, Splits For You leaps 2 spots in the standings to 1st place, while Another Season sinks 1 spot to 5th.
On lanes 23 & 24: No Pinheads accepted a challenge by Chicks With Balls. Led by Freda Schroeder with her above-average 507 series, No Pinheads collected 3 wins against the Chicks. On the other half of the score sheet, Janelle (Laube) Lamar laid down the law in the Chicks with her above-average 427 despite her team notching only a single win. No Pinheads leap 1 spot in the standings to 4th place, while the Chicks remain in 6th.
On lanes 25 & 26: Turkey Sandwich entered a showdown to the death with WWJB. Headlined by Jason Carpio with his below-average 502 series, Turkey Sandwich split the series with WWJB. On the other side, AJ Taylor took the lead in WWJB with his 380 as they matched their opponent in wins. Turkey Sandwich remains in 7th place, while WWJB remains in 8th.
Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends kept grabbing the balls of XXX. Regardless of the star power of Drew Eldridge with his 404 series, Wonder Friends got swept by XXX. Conversely, #1 Head-to-Head Rich DeYoung dominated XXX with his staggering 575 as they swept the competition. Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends remains in 9th place, while XXX remains in 10th.
Bowlers who lied to their significant other claiming bowling was running long then went out for after-bowling drinks at The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (244), Cory Chorpenning (209,241), Duncan Ferber (202), Ken M. Wilson (215,202), Rich DeYoung (203), and Ryan Doll (218)
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Bob Brunker dominated Division 1, while David Parre mopped up Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Scott Murdock came closest), and Deena Slinkard cleaned up Division 4. Finally, Adam Messner (Division 3) swept this week's Interdivisional bracket. In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz is in the driver's seat in Division 1; Angela Bradford and David Parre top Division 2 in a tie; Adam Messner governs Division 3; and Deena Slinkard calls the shots for Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 19&20, 6th-place Chicks With Balls (hcp 147) will spend some quality time with 3rd-place Chico's Bail Bonds. The Chicks are expected to perform well, yet still manage to get swept; while Chico's are forecast to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Moving to lanes 21&22, 10th-place XXX will match wits with 9th-place Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends (hcp 7). XXX might perform well and win the series; while Wonder Friends ought to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
- Then, over on lanes 23&24, 5th-place Sh!t, Another Season will compete against 4th-place No Pinheads (hcp 36). Another Season will likely maintain their current strength as they win the series; while No Pinheads will probably hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
- Next up, on lanes 25&26, 7th-place Turkey Sandwich (hcp 62) will throw some gutter balls with 1st-place Schlitz For Us, Splits For You. Turkey Sandwich might maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Schlitz ought to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Finally, on lanes 27&28, 8th-place WWJB (hcp 96) will tussle with 2nd-place Rule 6B. WWJB is predicted to maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Rule 6B is anticipated to raise their average while they rack up a sweep.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
