Flipping It Back Around

Posted by ScooterJ March 29, 2022 Spring 2022, Week 10 View Score Sheets

The tenth week saw the top half of the standings flip back around, with Glory Bowl dropping back to third place after spemnding the past two weeks on top. JoAnne Barber picked up this week's high game (155) and series (406) for the women. As for the men, Carl Goetz snagged this week's high game with a 238, and high series was earned by Matthew Taylor with a 655. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: Splits & Giggles chuckled with delight as they crushed the dreamas of a third straight week in first for Glory Bowl. Highlighting the skills of Most Valuable Bowler Jeremy Varnell and his above-average 427 series, Giggles pumped up their record with a clean sweep over Glory. In the meantime, Kent Harms with his 485 series emboldened Glory despite his team getting swept. Splits & Giggles climb 1 spot in the standings to 5th place, while Glory plunges 2 spots to 3rd.

On lanes 3 & 4: Flamboyant Fluffykins waged a heated competition against Going, Going, BALD!. While headlined by Dustin Schmeltz, who wondered why some of his teammates keep failing to wear their bowties as he rolled an above-average 543 series, Flamboyant accomplished only 1 win against Baldness. While that was going down, #1 Head-to-Head Matthew Taylor brought his own cheer section to watch as his better-than-normal 655 series took charge of Baldness (with a nod to #1 Power-Ranked Ben Spencer) as his team took the match with 3 wins. Flamboyant Fluffykins drop 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while Baldness move up 1 spot to 2nd.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: After an initial victory gave The Wally McWallingtons hope in their battle against ChuckaScoot, Scoot Scootsplained to Seth a few too many bowling tips and flipped things back the other way. Notwithstanding the leadership of AJ Hofmann with his above-average 515 series, The McWallingtons accomplished only the 1 win against Scoot Chuckers. Moving on to the challengers, Carl Goetz with his better-than-normal 641 series took the lead among Scoot Chuckers as his team took the match with 3 wins. The Wally McWallingtons remains in 4th place, while Scoot Chuckers move up 1 spot to 1st.

Bowlers slipping under the velvet rope in front of The 200 Club include: Aaron Barber (200,209), Ben Spencer (227), Carl Goetz (238,233), Matthew Taylor (230,210,215), and Seth Gunderson (201)

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Matthew Taylor creamed Division 1, while Ben Spencer had his way with Division 2. Jeremy Varnell trounced Division 3, and Brandon Martinez vanquished Division 4. In terms of overall points: Matthew Taylor leads Division 1; Ben Spencer holds the reins in Division 2; JoAnne Barber tops Division 3; and Emily Nicolet and Brandon Martinez govern Division 4 in a tie.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 4th-place The Wally McWallingtons will share a couple of pitchers with 6th-place Flamboyant Fluffykins (hcp 20). The McWallingtons are expected to roll a little low and lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Flamboyant is forecast to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 1st-place ChuckaScoot will chill with 3rd-place Glory Bowl (hcp 135). Scoot Chuckers might roll a little low, yet still manage to win the series; while Glory ought to drop their average a bit while they avoid getting swept.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 5th-place Splits & Giggles (hcp 141) will challenge 2nd-place Going, Going, BALD!. Giggles are predicted to roll decently, yet still manage to get swept; while Baldness are anticipated to drop their average a bit even as they rack up a sweep.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
