We are now halfway through the Fall 2007 season, so time is running out for those teams who want a shot at the championship to position themselves. The eighth week saw three teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and one rolled new personal high game. Janelle (Laube) Lamar landed this week's high game for the women with a 135, and women's high series was bagged by Jennifer Seefeldt with a 377. As for the men, Don Glasscock earned this week's high game (277) and series (691). Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 19 & 20: Bad Newz Kennels traded lane malfunctions with Your Mom. Led by Carl Goetz with his below-average 487 series, the Kennels celebrated a clean sweep over Your Mom. In the meantime, Ryan Doll showed off in Your Mom with his below-average 476 despite his team getting swept. Bad Newz Kennels remains in 3rd place, while Your Mom remains in 9th.
On lanes 21 & 22: Split Happens matched wits with Seefeldt the Glasscock. With top billing by Most Valuable Bowler Nick Allegri and his above-average 524 series, Split Happens collected 3 wins against the Glasscock. Across the ball return, Don Glasscock ruled the Glasscock with his 691 despite his team notching only a single win. Split Happens leap 1 spot in the standings to 7th place, while the Glasscock sinks 1 spot to 2nd.
On lanes 23 & 24: Ebowla took turns kicking the ball return with Dios Mios. Though featuring Tom Finley with his thrilling 420 series, Ebowla got swept by Dios Mios. On the flipside, #1 Power-Ranked Kris Hiestand drew the spotlight in Dios Mios with his stupendous 568 as they swept the competition. Ebowla drops 1 spot in the standings to 8th place, while Dios Mios move 1 spot to 1st.
On lanes 25 & 26: Seriously Handicapped kept stealing sips of beer from Cannonbelt Run. While headlined by Tyler Hilker with his amazing 563 series, the Handicapped accomplished only 1 win against Cannonbelt. On the other side, Seth Gunderson commanded Cannonbelt with his below-average 476 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Seriously Handicapped remains in 10th place, while Cannonbelt remains in 4th.
Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: The GameCox sparred with Sh!t, I Don't Know. Though reinforced by Jason Carpio with his below-average 475 series, the GameCox got swept by I Don't Know. On the other half of the score sheet, #1 Head-to-Head Duncan Ferber dominated I Don't Know with his exceptional 676 as they swept the competition. The GameCox drops 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while I Don't Know moves 1 spot to 5th.
Bowlers who lied to their significant other claiming bowling was running long then went out for after-bowling drinks at The 200 Club include: Brian Eye (211), Cory Chorpenning (217), Don Glasscock (225,277), Duncan Ferber (230,223,223), Ken M. Wilson (211), Kris Hiestand (223), Steve Kiernan (200), and Tyler Hilker (209)
A new personal high game was set tonight by Kris Hiestand (223, previous best 184). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Kris Hiestand (568, previous best 471) and Duncan Ferber (676, previous best 646). The 277 rolled by Don Glasscock is tied for the 3rd-best game in league history!
In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Duncan Ferber made quick work of Division 1, while Tyler Hilker had his way with Division 2. David Parre spanked Division 3, and Travis Kleiner eradicated Division 4. And, finally, nobody claimed victory in the Interdivisional bracket, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about this bracket as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Duncan Ferber governs Division 1; Nik Domann holds the reins in Division 2; Phil Schroeder reigns over Division 3; and Travis Kleiner dominates Division 4.
NEXT WEEK:
- First, on lanes 19&20, 7th-place Split Happens (hcp 40) will face 1st-place Dios Mios. Split Happens are expected to perform well, but split the series with Dios Mios; while Dios Mios are forecast to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
- Moving to lanes 21&22, 10th-place Seriously Handicapped (hcp 167) will compete against 5th-place Sh!t, I Don't Know. The Handicapped might maintain their current strength as they get swept; while I Don't Know ought to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Then, over on lanes 23&24, 9th-place Your Mom (hcp 68) will throw some gutter balls with 4th-place Cannonbelt Run. Your Mom will likely have a bit of an off night and get swept; while Cannonbelt will probably hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
- Next up, on lanes 25&26, 2nd-place Seefeldt the Glasscock will match wits with 6th-place The GameCox (hcp 147). The Glasscock might roll a little low, but split the series with the GameCox; while the GameCox ought to hold steady as they keep the series tied.
- Finally, on lanes 27&28, 3rd-place Bad Newz Kennels will roll against 8th-place Ebowla (hcp 131). The Kennels are predicted to perform well and sweep the series; while Ebowla is anticipated to raise their average even as they endure a rough night.
