The Halfway Point

Posted by ScooterJ October 26, 2021 Fall 2021, Week 8 View Score Sheets

We are now already halfway through the Fall 2021 season, and we marked this momentous occasion with absolutely no movement in the standings. Emily Nicolet picked up this week's high game (115) and series (291) for the women. As for the men, James Tott snagged this week's high game with a 226, and high series was earned by Dennis Walling with a 566. Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 1 & 2: In a rather closely-matched lineup Kenny Fan Club Would You Rather.... Showcasing Conor Clarke with his 522 series, Kenny collected 3 wins against Would You. Meanwhile, AJ Hofmann with his better-than-normal 488 series laid down the law for Would You despite his team notching only a single win. Game three was a nailbiter that literally came down to the last ball of the last frame on each side. Kenny Fan Club remains in 6th place, while Would You remains in 2nd.

On lanes 3 & 4: Another closely-matched pairing had The Heavy Pins facing of with Bowlie Guacamole. Despite a show of strength by Kent Harms with his above-average 452 series, Heavy P accomplished only 1 win against Guac. On the flipside, trifecta-winner (#1 Head-to-Head, #1 Power-Ranked, and Most Valuable Bowler) Dustin Schmeltz and his better-than-normal 545 series ruled Guac as his team took the match with 3 wins. The Heavy Pins remains in 5th place, while Guac remains in 3rd.

Finally, down on lanes 5 & 6: Yep, you guessed it, all three pairs of lanes had closely matched teams. Going Going Bald alternated rolls with Shephus Cripes. Regardless of the star power of Dennis Walling with his above-average 566 series, Baldness accomplished only 1 win against Shephus. In the midst of this, James Tott with his better-than-normal 541 series oversaw Shephus as his team took the match with 3 wins. Going Going Bald remains in 1st place, while Shephus remain in 4th.

Bowlers getting the VIP treatment in The 200 Club include: Dennis Walling (205,208), Dustin Schmeltz (200), James Tott (226), and Nick Kinney (202)

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Dennis Walling cleaned up Division 1, while nobody claimed victory in Division 2 (though James Tott came closest). Kent Harms eradicated Division 3, and Brandon Martinez rolled his ass to the top of Division 4. In terms of overall points: Carl Goetz is in the driver's seat in Division 1; James Tott dominates Division 2; Kent Harms tops Division 3; and Brandon Martinez runs the show in Division 4.

NEXT WEEK, WHICH WILL BE ON MONDAY DUE TO THE WYCO ELECTION ON TUESDAY:

  • First, on lanes 1&2, 1st-place Going Going Bald will socialize with 3rd-place Bowlie Guacamole (hcp 142). Baldness are expected to maintain their current strength as they win the series; while Guac is forecast to hold steady as they avoid getting swept.
  • Moving to lanes 3&4, 4th-place Shephus Cripes will chuck some balls with 2nd-place Would You Rather... (hcp 84). Shephus might maintain their current strength as they sweep the series; while Would You ought to hold steady as they endure a rough night.
  • Finally, on lanes 5&6, 5th-place The Heavy Pins (hcp 17) will meet with 6th-place Kenny Fan Club. Heavy P is predicted to maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Kenny is anticipated to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.

*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)

  FROM THE GUTTER (GUTTER QUOTE)
"Shit, you guys bowl during Monday Night Football next week? Maybe the Chiefs should try bowling that night too. The way they play, you guys could use someone who we know will reliably clear all Varnell's dead wood out of the gutter."

Sub Nick Kinney, on learning of next week's schedule change.
