Spring 2009 Week 4 Robo-RecapThe fourth week of Spring 2009 saw four teams climb in the standings, while three teams slipped. Angela Bradford picked up this week's high game (172) and series (497) for the women, while Duncan Ferber earned this week's high game (225) and series (586) for the men. Meanwhile, the Tournament of Champions also kicked off tonight, beginning of 13 weeks of one-on-one bowling excitement! Read on for all the rest of the details!

First up, on lanes 19 & 20: Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends sparred with No Pinheads. Despite the strength of Ryan Housknecht with his (either injured, sick, or sandbagging) 279 series, Wonder Friends accomplished only 1 win against No Pinheads. Conversely, Phil Schroeder mastered No Pinheads with his above-average 506 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends drop 1 spot in the standings to 6th place, while No Pinheads move 1 spot to 1st.

week4On lanes 21 & 22: Schlitz For Us, Splits For You chucked gutter balls with Chico's Bail Bonds. Topped by Angela Bradford with her above-average 497 series, Schlitz collected 3 wins against Chico's. On the adjacent lane, David Codding took the lead in Chico's with his 553 despite his team notching only a single win. Schlitz For Us, Splits For You leaps 1 spot in the standings to 2nd place, while Chico's plunge 2 spots to 3rd.

On lanes 23 & 24: Chicks With Balls celebrated their love of large, heavy balls with Rule 6B. Despite being led by Andrea Caudillo with her above-average 437 series, the Chicks accomplished only 1 win against Rule 6B. On the other side, Ryan Doll shined in Rule 6B with his 504 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Chicks With Balls remains in 8th place, while Rule 6B remains in 4th.

On lanes 25 & 26: WWJB hung out with Turkey Sandwich. In spite of the prowess of AJ Taylor with his 376 series, WWJB got swept by Turkey Sandwich. As for the opposition, Jason Carpio laid down the law in Turkey Sandwich with his below-average 523 (benefitted greatly by real star — trifecta-winner #1 Power-Ranked, #1 Head-to-Head, and Most Valuable Bowler Zach Frank) as they swept the competition. WWJB plummets 3 spots in the standings to 9th place, while Turkey Sandwich jumps 2 spots to 5th.

Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: XXX had a rendezvous with Sh!t, Another Season. Starring Rich DeYoung with his below-average 456 series, XXX split the series with Another Season. Meanwhile, Duncan Ferber ruled Another Season with his above-average 586 as they matched their opponent in wins. XXX remains in 10th place, while Another Season jumps 2 spots to 7th.

Bowlers rolling into The 200 Club include: Carl Goetz (223), Cory Chorpenning (222), David Codding (203), David Parre (200), Duncan Ferber (225), and Jason Carpio (208)

In this week's Tournament of Champions brackets: Duncan Ferber staked a claim for the Iron Throne in Division 1, while David Parre got the better of Division 2. Nobody claimed victory in Division 3 (though Andrea Caudillo came closest), and Deena Slinkard dominated Division 4. And, finally, nobody claimed victory in the Interdivisional bracket, and in fact we aren't even going to talk about this bracket as it was a complete embarassment. In terms of overall points: Duncan Ferber runs the show in Division 1; David Parre holds the reins in Division 2; Andrea Caudillo governs Division 3; and Deena Slinkard is in the driver's seat in Division 4.

NEXT WEEK:

  • First, on lanes 19&20, 10th-place XXX (hcp 67) will throw some gutter balls with 4th-place Rule 6B. XXX is expected to perform well, yet still manage to lose the series but avoid getting swept; while Rule 6B is forecast to hold steady as they enjoy their victories.
  • Moving to lanes 21&22, 5th-place Turkey Sandwich (hcp 120) will chill with 7th-place Sh!t, Another Season. Turkey Sandwich might maintain their current strength as they get swept; while Another Season ought to hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
  • Then, over on lanes 23&24, 9th-place WWJB (hcp 180) will chuck some balls with 3rd-place Chico's Bail Bonds. WWJB will likely roll decently, yet still manage to get swept; while Chico's will probably hold steady as they rack up a sweep.
  • Next up, on lanes 25&26, 8th-place Chicks With Balls (hcp 132) will share a couple of pitchers with 1st-place No Pinheads. The Chicks might maintain their current strength as they lose the series but avoid getting swept; while No Pinheads ought to drop their average a bit even as they enjoy their victories.
  • Finally, on lanes 27&28, 2nd-place Schlitz For Us, Splits For You will tussle with 6th-place Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends (hcp 87). Schlitz is predicted to perform well and win the series; while Wonder Friends are anticipated to raise their average even as they avoid getting swept.
*(Remember, the predicted results above are based on mathematical extrapolations and can be changed by all sorts of factors. If you don't like how your team's results are predicted, you and your teammates have the power to prove the math wrong!)
