The Spring 2009 season is now underway, with ten teams entering the 16-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy. Two bowlers set a new personal best series, and four rolled new personal high games. Freda Schroeder landed this week's high game for the women with a 184, and women's high series was bagged by Angela Bradford with a 481. As for the men, Cory Chorpenning earned this week's high game (289) and series (689). Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 19 & 20: No Pinheads waged a heated competition against Sh!t, Another Season. Despite being led by Dennis Laube with his 548 series, No Pinheads accomplished only 1 win against Another Season. Concurrently, #1 Power-Ranked Cory Chorpenning reigned supreme in Another Season with his 689 as his team took the series with 3 wins. No Pinheads leaves the gate in 8th place, while Another Season starts off with 1st.
On lanes 21 & 22: Chico's Bail Bonds spent some quality time with Chicks With Balls. With top billing by #1 Head-to-Head Ken M. Wilson and his 586 series, Chico's collected 3 wins against the Chicks. On the other half of the score sheet, Janelle (Laube) Lamar commanded the Chicks with her 400 despite her team notching only a single win. Chico's Bail Bonds starts out in 2nd place, while the Chicks get rolling in 9th.
On lanes 23 & 24: Schlitz For Us, Splits For You kept stealing sips of beer from Turkey Sandwich. With the strength of Angela Bradford with her 481 series, Schlitz split the series with Turkey Sandwich. In the meantime, Jason Carpio shined in Turkey Sandwich with his 621 as they matched their opponent in wins. Schlitz For Us, Splits For You begins with 5th place, while Turkey Sandwich begins in 4th.
On lanes 25 & 26: Rule 6B did battle with WWJB. Starring Ryan Doll with his 488 series, Rule 6B collected 3 wins against WWJB. While that was going down, Dave Winger guided WWJB with his terrific 512 despite his team notching only a single win. Rule 6B gets underway in 3rd place, while WWJB commences the season with 10th.
Finally, down on lanes 27 & 28: Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends had a rendezvous with XXX. Topped by Drew Eldridge with his 424 series, Wonder Friends split the series with XXX. In the midst of this, Rich DeYoung dominated XXX with his 483 as they matched their opponent in wins. Capt. Awesome & Wonder Friends 7th place, while XXX 6th.

New personal high games were set tonight by Dave Winger (187, previous best 183), Cory Chorpenning (289, previous best 286), Rob Kaszuba (209, previous best 204), and Adam Messner (189, previous best 167). In addition, new personal best series were rolled by Dave Winger (512, previous best 488) and Cory Chorpenning (689, previous best 688). The 289 rolled by Cory Chorpenning is the new 2nd-best game in league history!
