The Spring 2003 season is now underway, with eight teams entering the 16-week competition for the coveted, nonexistent championship trophy. Four bowlers set a new personal best series, and three rolled new personal high games. Janelle (Laube) Lamar picked up this week's high game (172) and series (496) for the women, while Thomas Lin earned this week's high game (217) and series (593) for the men. Read on for all the rest of the details!
First up, on lanes 17 & 18: D-Day kept grabbing the balls of Top Guns. With the strength of Demond Robinson with his 496 series, with kudos to Most Valuable Bowler Nik Domann, D-Day split the series with Top Guns. On the other half of the score sheet, Pat Searcy shined in Top Guns with his 573 as they matched their opponent in wins. D-Day begins with 5th place, while Top Guns begin in 4th.
On lanes 19 & 20: When Push Comes To Shove had a rendezvous with Canned Crabs. Starring Dennis Laube with his 523 series, the Shovers collected 3 wins against the Crabs. Countering this, Eric Lynch showed off in the Crabs with his 466 despite his team notching only a single win. When Push Comes To Shove gets underway in 2nd place, while the Crabs start off with 7th.
On lanes 21 & 22: Spanked couldn't stop inappropriately groping The Good Sons. Reinforced by #1 Power Ranked and #1 Head-to-Head Thomas Lin and his 593 series, Spanked celebrated a clean sweep over the Sons. On the flipside, Tracey Robertson drew the spotlight in the Sons with her 344 despite her team getting swept. Spanked starts out in 1st place, while the Sons get rolling in 8th.
Finally, down on lanes 23 & 24: Hulk Smash! kept stealing sips of beer from Bowlers of Mass Destruction. Notwithstanding the leadership of Carl Goetz with his 534 series, the Hulk accomplished only 1 win against Mass Destruction. On the adjacent lane, Jarrod Guthrie dominated Mass Destruction with his marvelous 474 as his team took the series with 3 wins. Hulk Smash! leaves the gate in 6th place, while Mass Destruction gets going with 3rd.
