Fall 2012 was our 25th season. The Championship Team was FTOP, featuring John Boren, Cory Chorpenning, David Codding, and Ken Wilson. This was the debut season of pretty much everyone who was ever a member of Split It and Hit Hit, among whom only Mark Devoe and Michael Smith rolled all 10 of that team's seasons. We also welcomed Chadwick Andrews (6 seasons), and Cliff Barendsen and Bryan Mohr (5 seasons each). Also debuting this season was Ryan Simonet and Andy McLeod (6 seasons), John Richardson (5 seasons), the Jeters (4 seasons), and Brian Henderson and Amy Logan (3 seasons). This was the final season for Pat Searcy and for David Codding, who quit after rolling the league's first 300 game because "there was nowhere to go but down". (Don't worry, we decided to be nice and not pick the week he rolled his 300 for the purposes of this game.)
In week 5 of that season (September 25, 2012), David Codding had high game for the men (247) while Carl Goetz had high series (653), and Anita Osthoff had high game for the women (186) while Freda Schroeder picked up high series with 475.
The top song in the US: "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift, while the #1 film in theaters was "End of Watch" starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña. Oh and the world was supposed to end in December. (I guess we forgot.)
Each week this season we fire up our time machine so you can bowl against teams from the past! Your opponent is whomever the team sharing your team number faced in that past season.
Team wins are calculated just like normal game play. The FOUR teams with the best win-loss records will each receive extra prize money at the end of the season!
Individuals also win points by beating their assigned opponent on the past team! Use a 100% handicap (like in the Tournament of Championships) between yourself and the other bowler to score your games.
Max 4 points per week*. The top 4 individuals in each ToC division will get extra prize money at the end of the season!
*Minus 1 pt you lose a game against a past version of yourself. Max win of 3 points if your opponent is blind.

Game Rules
Every week we will feature one of our past bowling seasons, and each team will roll (virtually) against their counterpart's opponent from that past season. Scoring is done with the standard 80% handicap, and the four teams with the best win-loss records at the end of the season will all win extra cash!
But that's not all. Each week you as an individual bowler are rolling against the past-season bowler opposite you in the lineup. Use a 100% handicap when scoring, just like in the Tournament of Champions. Earn points for each victory (or half a point for each tie). Borrowing the Tournament of Champions divisions, the top four points-earners in each division will also win extra cash! But there are a couple of caveats for the one-on-one games:
If you are bowling against a past version of yourself and you lose any game, one point will be deducted.
If you or your individual past opponent are blind for all 3 games, the maximum points you can earn that week is 3 instead of 4.
Game Rules
You don't need to worry about doing anything but bowling. We will be tracking it all for you.
The season that will be featured each week will not be revealed in advance.
The schedule was determined in advance before any current team numbers were assigned.
Changing your bowling order does not change who your past opponent is at the individual level. Whomever is opposite you on the printed sheet each Tuesday is who you face regardless of any changes your team makes to the bowling order.
In the event of any ties, the ties will be broken by an impartial method to be determined by Scott and AJ at the end of the season.
Online tracking and leaderboards will begin in week 4, when the ToC divisions are known. (Until then we will be tracking on paper.)
For the team vs team games, use an 80% handicap. 1 point is earned for each win, 0.5 point for each tie, for a maximum of 4 team points each week.
Subs count towards the results of the team games.
For the individual bowler games, use a 100% handicap against the past opponent. 1 point is earned for each win, 0.5 point for each tie, for a maximum of 4 team points each week. (Exceptions, max of 3 points if either is blind for all 3 games, and minus 1 point if you lose a game against your past self.)
Team prizes will be paid lump sum to each winning team at the awards ceremony, it is up to your team to determine how to divide it up.
Individual prizes will be paid directly to each individual at the award ceremony.
This is a one-time-only game. If we ever play it again, it probably won't be until Fall 2024.
